Katherine C. "Kay" Donovan

of Quincy, 92, formerly of Dorchester and North Scituate, died on October 25, 2009 at Hancock Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy after a brief illness.

Kay was born and raised in Dorchester. She graduated from Saint Gregory’s High School and then attended business school in Boston. She worked for the State Treasurer’s office and later began a career at the Atlantic and Pacific Co. (A&P Co.). She retired from A&P as an Office Manager of the Fish Division.

Kay will always be remembered for her constant care and devotion to her family, her parish of origin, Saint Peter’s, Dorchester and her many friends.

Devoted daughter of the late Michael J. and Eileen (McCarthy) Donovan and sister of the late Geraldine Donovan, Eileen Donovan (Sister Geraldine Marie, SCH), Joseph M. Donovan and Anna Donovan McBournie. She is survived and deeply mourned by her sister, Virginia (Donovan) Thompson, her brother, Gerald J. Donovan, eight nieces and nephews, their spouses and twenty-three grand nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton on Friday, Oct. 30 at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. MILTON, Thursday 4-8PM. Interment Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.

Thomas P. Walsh

81, of Milton, died at Marina Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy on October 23, 3009.

Born in South Boston, Mr. Walsh graduated from South Boston High School. He entered the United States Army at the age of 18 and later graduated from Northeastern University.

Mr. Walsh began working for the accounting department at Gillette Safety Razor Corp. in 1946. He retired from Gillette in 1987 as the Assistant Director of International Finance.

He was a member of the Cunningham Couples Bowling League and enjoyed playing Ping Pong and softball, and dancing.

Mr. Walsh also was a member of the Board of Directors for the South Boston Community Health Center.

Beloved husband of Joan B. (Higgins) Walsh. Father of Brian P. Walsh and his wife Janice Pender of West Roxbury, Robert E. Walsh and his wife Kathleen of Milton and Susan D. Walsh of Texas. Brother of the late John J. Walsh. Grandfather of Sara and Conor Walsh. Private funeral services will be held.

Jeanne Hannon Grace

of Milton, died after a brief illness at The Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on October 21, 2009.

A homemaker, Mrs. Grace was actively involved in many local social and community associations. She was a member of The Charles River Country Club, The Harvard Club, The Harvard Faculty Club and The Boston University Women’s Council, The Museum of Fine Arts, The Algonquin Club, The Emmerson Majestic Theater Group and a longtime member of The Milton Hoosic Club, where she and her husband Karl were honored with a Commemorative Golf Tournament in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the Club.

Mrs. Grace attended Jean D’Arc Academy, Newton College of the Sacred Heart and Boston University.

Clara Annie Lord

October 20, 2009 at the age of 79.

Born in Boston, MA Clara is the beloved daughter of the late Frank A. Lord and Helen T. Dozier. Dear sister of Robert Gelzer of Boston; Richard Gelzer of Greensboro, NC; James Dozier of Boston; Michael Dozier of Wasilla, Alaska; Helen Schneider of Boynton Beach, Fl; Della Gelzer of Boston; Diana Dozier of Boston; Cheryl Murriell of Chicago, Il and Rowena Wesley of Boston. Clara is survived by her loving cousins Patricia Johnson-Laidler of Merrimack, NH; Constance Geary of Nashua, NH; Florence Dunston of Boston, and a host of other family and friends.

Charles C. Winchester

an Attorney and a longtime resident of Milton, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

Born in Woburn, Charles was a graduate of Newton High School, Class of 1954. He attended Dartmouth College and was a graduate of Boston College Law School, Class of 1961.

Charles was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1961. That same year, he joined Fish and Richardson PC, a law firm in Boston. After 41 years with Fish and Richardson, he retired as Chairman of the Board in 2002.

Charles was an active resident of the Town of Milton. He was a Town Meeting Member since 1972 and a member of the Warrant Committee from 1974 – 1978. He also served as Chairman of the Warrant Committee for two years.

He was elected to the School Committee in 1980, served for two years, and he served as Chairman of the School Committee for the last year. In 1982, he was elected as Town Moderator and worked in that position for 9 years, retiring in 1991. He also was a Corporator of the Milton Hospital.

In 1995, Charles was selected to serve as Chairman of the Fire Department Study Committee, and in 1998 he was appointed Chairman of the School Building Committee, a position that he held for 11 years.

Charles was a member of The Massachusetts Bar Association, The American Bar Association, Patent Law Association, and the US Bar- Japanese Patent Liaison Committee.

Beloved husband of 50 years of Janet M. (Lyons) Winchester. Loving father of Christine Winchester of Braintree, Charles Winchester of Milton, Mark and his wife Jacci of Vermont, Joan Sachs, MD and her husband Jeffrey of Marblehead, Stephen Winchester of Milton and Matthew Winchester of New Orleans.Also survived by 7 grandchildren. Brother of Jane Winchester, MD of Greenfield and the late Grace Winchester.

Edmond Tercy, Jr.

an automotive mechanic, died Tuesday October 13 at Broward General Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 47 years old.

Beloved father of Guerino Tercy, Carl Edmond Tercy, Nadjy Strika Tercy and Jeffrey Tercy. Loving son of Edmond Tercy Sr. and Therese Franck Tercy. Brother of Emmelyne Tercy, Yves Casimir Tercy, reginald Tercy, Kerven Tercy, Ralph Tercy, Jean-Paul Tercy and Fabienne Tercy.

Joan M. (Manning) Kane

76, of New Bedford, formerly of Milton and Braintree, died peacefully on Sunday October 18, 2009.

Born in Milton, the daughter of the late Joseph T. and Stella H. (MacPhee) Manning, she lived in Milton and Braintree for many years
before moving to New Bedford in 2004.

Mrs. Kane was formerly employed by Aetna Casualty until her retirement.

Survivors include a daughter, Michaela Markey and her husband
Christopher of Dartmouth; a brother, David P. Manning of Abbottstown,
PA; four grandchildren, Clare, Nora, Declan, and Bridget Markey; and
many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Joseph R. Manning and Paul D. Manning
and the former wife of the late Russell Allsopp.

John J. Young

a self-employed carpenter, died Tuesday October 13 at Brigham and women’s Hospital. He was 68 years old.

Beloved husband of Ruby (Rickerson) Young. Father of Shawn, Deborah, Donna, MaryBeth, Blake, Vivian, Ricky and Mario. Brother of Steven and his wife Deborah of Brockton. John is also survived by eleven grandchildren.

Bruce F. Forde

age 78, of Quincy, formerly of Milton, died at Milton Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Boston, he was a resident of Milton for over 41 years, moving to Quincy in 1973. For over 31 years he was employed by the Town of Milton at Milton Cemetery.

An avid bowler, he also enjoyed ice skating at the Saint Moritz Rink in Quincy, and Skiing.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nina L. (D’Ambrosio) Forde.
He is also survived by three sisters, Natalie Barritt of Weymouth, Charlotte Mims of VA and Judith Forde of Quincy. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mary G. (Norton) MacDougall

89, of Quincy, formerly of Mattapan died at Marina Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on October 11, 2009.

Born and raised in Roxbury, Mary graduated from Girls High School. She worked as the Women’s Basketball Coach at Norfolk House in Roxbury.

A devoted mother and wife, Mary and her husband, Robert, raised their family in Mattapan. She moved to Holbrook after her husband’s death and later moved to Quincy in 2002.

Mary travelled to Hawaii several times and loved to sing.

Beloved wife of the late Robert J. MacDougall. Mother of Judith A. Presutti of Quincy, Jean M. McKinnon of Maui, HI, R. J. MacDougall of Boston, John P. MacDougall of Maui, HI, and Mary T. Riley of Pembroke. Sister of Lillian Norton and Ann Norton, both of Roslindale and the late John Norton. Mary is survived by 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
