Katherine C. "Kay" Donovan

of Quincy, 92, formerly of Dorchester and North Scituate, died on October 25, 2009 at Hancock Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy after a brief illness.

Kay was born and raised in Dorchester. She graduated from Saint Gregory’s High School and then attended business school in Boston. She worked for the State Treasurer’s office and later began a career at the Atlantic and Pacific Co. (A&P Co.). She retired from A&P as an Office Manager of the Fish Division.

Kay will always be remembered for her constant care and devotion to her family, her parish of origin, Saint Peter’s, Dorchester and her many friends.

Devoted daughter of the late Michael J. and Eileen (McCarthy) Donovan and sister of the late Geraldine Donovan, Eileen Donovan (Sister Geraldine Marie, SCH), Joseph M. Donovan and Anna Donovan McBournie. She is survived and deeply mourned by her sister, Virginia (Donovan) Thompson, her brother, Gerald J. Donovan, eight nieces and nephews, their spouses and twenty-three grand nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton on Friday, Oct. 30 at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. MILTON, Thursday 4-8PM. Interment Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
