A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth Landing  on Saturday September 9 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Friday 6 -8  PM. Interment private.

Sandra Ann (Hayes) Cobb

Sandra Ann (Hayes) Cobb, of Weymouth, formerly of Milton, died at Pat Roche Hospice House, Hingham, Friday September 1, 2017.

Born and raised in Milton, Sandra was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1975. She was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan and enjoyed Cape Cod, the beach, dancing and crocheting.

Wife of the late Alan Cobb. Sister of Karen Nunziato of Norwell and Donna Carroll of Braintree. Aunt of Jonathan T. Carroll of West Roxbury, Laura Carroll-Shapiro of Roslindale and Nicole L. Nunziato of Quincy. Great-aunt of Joseph T. Carroll of West Roxbury. Daughter of the late Thomas J. and Gloria I. (Bold) Hayes. Niece of Jeanne Bold of Weymouth, William Hayes of Scituate and she is also is survived by many cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Thursday September 7 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Wednesday 4-8 PM. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Gertha Lespinasse

Gertha Lespinasse, of Miami, FL, passed away August 28, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Loving mother of Marlyne Ebanks, Roody Lespinasse, Jennifer Ebanks, Kenneth Mercure, and Tshanukah Matheus. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren.

Visiting hours at Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, Friday from 4-8PM. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 2 at Boston Missionary Baptist Church, Dudley Street, Roxbury at 10AM. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Peter E. Manning

Peter E.  Manning, of Milton, died August 27 2017.

He was the loving son of the late Irene I and M Joseph Manning and the devoted brother of Maritta Manning Cronin, M. Joseph Manning, Jr. and Harriet I Manning, all of Milton. Peter is also survived by five nephews, Jay, Brian and Will Cronin, Joey and Jonathan Manning, three nieces, JoAnne Manning Peterson, Jill Manning and Anne Manning Doherty, seven grand-nephews, Jack, Henry and Duncan Cronin, John Manning, Ryan Peterson, Liam and Noah Doherty and six grand-nieces, Madelynn Cronin, Casie Peterson, Lauren, Ellen and Katherine Manning and Emma Doherty.

Peter worked with his brother Joe as 4th generation owners of Thatcher Farm.

Peter was a loyal member of Milton High, class of 1966 where he played football. He also graduated from Massasoit Community College and the University of Arizona. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, a longtime member of Gentlemens Basketball, he enjoyed Boston sport teams and attending antique car shows.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday September 6th at 11 am in  Milton Cemetery (meet at front gate) followed by Celebration of Life service at Wakefield Estate 1465 Brush Hill Road Milton. All are welcome.

Beverly Capozzoli

Beverly (Keating) Capozzoli, of Marshfield and  Dorchester died on August 29, 2017.  Beloved  wife of the late Joseph J. Capozzoli.  Loving mother of Diane Capozzoli  and her partner Mary Ann Driscoll of Dorchester and Mark Capozzoli of Marshfield.  Cherished grandmother of Allison  Davis and her husband Sean of Beverly and Douglas J. Capozzoli  of Marshfield.  Great-grandmother of Jackson and Ella Davis.  Sister of the late Russell Keating.

Beverly was a self employed business woman, she and her husband owned and operated several successful businesses in Marshfield.  Beverly loved spending time with her family who were the cornerstone of her life.  She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday September 2 at 11:00am in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester.  Visiting hours in the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE prior to the Mass from 9:00- 10:30am.  Burial will be at a later date.

Nakieka “Kiki” Taylor

Nakieka Taylor was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Ms. Nannie Taylor and Mr. Raymond Chapman on April 30, 1987. She was raised in Dorchester then moved to Roxbury at the age of 9. Nakieka, lovingly nicknamed Kiki, was a joyful person with a smile of gold; everyone loved being around her she was always happy. She graduated from Hyde Park High School and her first job was security guard at Copley Mall. After that she worked at the Boys and Girls Club in Roxbury where she became a lifeguard, she loved to save lives. She had a big heart and loved to help people, she would bend over backwards to help family and loved ones. Not a negative word spoken about her, she is remembered as always giving to others regardless of her need. She even helped nurse her brother Nelson Taylor back to health after a near-death experience in a house fire several years ago.

 Nakieka leaves behind her mother and father Nannie Taylor and Raymond Chapman, her two brothers Raymond and Nelson Taylor, three sisters Ramona Chapman, Esslena Jackson and BettyAnn Carlies, as well as a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., LOWER MILLS, on Tuesday, August 29 at 10:30AM. Funeral service to follow at 11:30. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Judith A. Jacobson

Judith “Judy” A. Jacobson, 82 of Manomet, formerly of Quincy died peacefully at home, with family at her side, Tuesday August 22, 2017 following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late James M. Jacobson who died in 2012.

Born July 4, 1935 in Milton, the daughter of the late Charles and Barbara Martin, she was raised and educated in Milton and worked as a school crossing guard for the City of Quincy for 23 years. Following her retirement she and Jim moved to Manomet. Judy also volunteered at Golden Living Center in Plymouth. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Judy is survived by her children Joanne Paolucci and her husband Steven of Plymouth, Janet Feeney of Raynham, James Jacobson and his wife Susan of Franklin, Jeffrey Jacobson and his wife Laurie-Ann of Plymouth, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Jeffrey Martin of Arizona and the late Gerry Martin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in the Dolan and Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Ave, Milton Village, Monday August 28th at 11:00. Visitation 10-11 prior to service. Interment at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy, MA.

Emory I. Johnson Mockabee

Emory I. Johnson Mockabee, 99, of Cairo, GA, formerly of Boston, MA, peacefully passed away on August 23, 2017, at the Veterans Medical Center Hospice in Brockton, Massachusetts surrounded by those she loved.  At the time of her passing she was the oldest surviving World War II African American Female Veteran in the United States.

She was born in Cairo, Georgia on June 22, 1918, was educated in the Cairo Public Schools System and graduated from Savannah and Albany State Colleges.

In 1943, during World War II, she enlisted in the United States Women’s Army Corps (WAC), where she earned the rank of Private First Class.  She served her time in Staten Island, New York, transporting POW’s to and from their work sites.  She also served as General Douglas McArthur’s private chauffeur.   While stationed on Staten Island she was introduced to the late Walter C. Mockabee, Sr. (whom she later married), who at the time was serving in the United States Coast Guard.   She was a resident of Massachusetts for sixty eight years until she returned to her home in Cairo, GA in 2011.

Emory was totally devoted to family and friends, who looked to her for advice and guidance which she gave freely until her death.  She is survived by her children Walter C. Mockabee, Jr. (Rena B.) of Lafayette, LA, Chiquita Jacob of Brockton, MA and Ongelita Miles (Luther R. Miles Jr.) of Randolph, MA, Anthony C. Mockabee (deceased) and a sister M. Jeanette Johnson of Cairo, GA.  She had sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends, whom she loved like her own.

Family and friends are invited attend the visitation Tuesday August 29 from 3:00-7:00pm at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS.  A service will be held in the funeral home with a private funeral and burial in Cairo, GA at a later date.

Richard J. Mahanor

Richard J. Mahanor, 53, after a lengthy battle with cancer, entered into rest on August 19, 2017 with his loving family at his side.

Born in 1964, Richard was a life long resident of both Milton and Humarock Beach.  Richard graduated in 1982 from Boston College High School, and then attended Curry College, graduating in 1986, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications (Cum Laude).  He began his lifelong career in radio in January 1986 at WATD Radio Station in Marshfield as a DJ and Producer.  Richard went to work at the Talking Information Center in Marshfield, a radio reading service for the blind and low vision population of Massachusetts.  He lent his voice as a devoted reader, working as a reader and in production, making sure every audio program to go on air was in place.  Richard worked to his passing with an unrelenting dedication to listeners and the radio staff.

He was very active in many activities with the Humarock Beach Improvement Association and the South Shore Humarock Civic Association.  Richard thoroughly enjoyed participating in many road races, medaling in many, as an avid runner to support many charities and organizations.  He loved everybody he met and knew over his life, and took a special interest in everyone he knew.

Richard was well known for his huge passion for weather and big storm events.  His endless energy, willingness to enlist himself to assist and help others, his iconic smile and quick humor will remain treasured and be missed by all who knew him.

Son of the late Marjorie (Gorman), Richard is survived by his loving father, Charles Mahanor, Jr., MD, his brother Charles A. Mahanor, Esq. and sisters Susan E. Mahanor, MBA and Elizabeth A. Mahanor, MD FACS.

Visiting hours Wednesday August 30 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 31, 10:30 AM at Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton.  Relatives and friends invited to attend.  Interment Milton Cemetery.

Martin J. DeMatteo Jr.

Martin J. DeMatteo Jr., of Milton, August 22, 2017.

Born in Boston and raised in Milton, Martin graduated from Milton Academy, Class of 1985 and Duke University, Class of 1989.  He led his family’s business, M. DeMatteo Construction Company, while it completed many large and complicated projects, including, among others, the “Big Dig” and the Logan Airport modernization. More recently, he managed his own real estate properties.  He was a member of Wollaston Golf Club and the Milton Hoosic Club.  He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church in Milton.

Martin was a caring father, fully involved in all aspects of his children’s lives.  He especially enjoyed watching their soccer and Little League games.  He was a devoted husband and true family man.  He loved golf, history and talking about baseball.  He was a loyal friend and great storyteller.  He had a wonderful sense of humor.  He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Beloved husband of Christine (Hoey) DeMatteo. Loving father of Olivia J. DeMatteo, Thomas C. DeMatteo, Stephen J. DeMatteo and Michael M. DeMatteo. Devoted son of Martin J. and Judith K. (Pagliarulo) DeMatteo of Milton. Brother of John DeMatteo II and his wife Kristine of Wellesley and Karen D. Kunisaki and her husband Shaun M.D. of Ann Arbor, MI.  Martin is survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
