Martin J. DeMatteo Jr., of Milton, August 22, 2017.
Born in Boston and raised in Milton, Martin graduated from Milton Academy, Class of 1985 and Duke University, Class of 1989. He led his family’s business, M. DeMatteo Construction Company, while it completed many large and complicated projects, including, among others, the “Big Dig” and the Logan Airport modernization. More recently, he managed his own real estate properties. He was a member of Wollaston Golf Club and the Milton Hoosic Club. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church in Milton.
Martin was a caring father, fully involved in all aspects of his children’s lives. He especially enjoyed watching their soccer and Little League games. He was a devoted husband and true family man. He loved golf, history and talking about baseball. He was a loyal friend and great storyteller. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Beloved husband of Christine (Hoey) DeMatteo. Loving father of Olivia J. DeMatteo, Thomas C. DeMatteo, Stephen J. DeMatteo and Michael M. DeMatteo. Devoted son of Martin J. and Judith K. (Pagliarulo) DeMatteo of Milton. Brother of John DeMatteo II and his wife Kristine of Wellesley and Karen D. Kunisaki and her husband Shaun M.D. of Ann Arbor, MI. Martin is survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Tuesday August 29 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Monday 4-8 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Martin’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

We are all so sad to hear of Martin’s passing. Martin was a devoted father who always had a smile for everyone. He never missed a little league game for Tommy or Stephen. We will miss him on the field next season. Sending you all our love. Elaine
