Yolene Antoine-Neptune

On Thursday, March 19, 2020, Yolène Antoine-Neptune of Milton, MA, more lovingly known as “Lèlène” to family and friends, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 after having spent her final hours with her beloved children.

An immigrant to Boston in 1978, Yolène was born in Jacmel, Haiti and raised as 1 of 8 children in Port-au-Prince by her late mother, Lucie Olga Antoine. She is survived by her husband, Louis Oswald Neptune, her two children, Anthony and Djevna Neptune, as well as her 3 aunts, 5 siblings, and many nieces and nephews.

Yolène went to primary school at Ecole Marie Reine Immaculee in her hometown.  She then completed her secondary school education at Lycee des Jeunes Filles in Jacmel followed by College Honore Fery in Port-au-Prince. She completed her Bachelors in Nursing at L’Ecole Nationale D’infirmiere D’Haiti. She then completed two years of residency, her first at Saint Michel Hospital and her second at Universite D’etat D’Haiti Hospital. Yolène worked as a Registered Nurse in healthcare facilities throughout the metro-Boston area, including Mattapan Hospital and Laurel Ridge, and finished her career at Boston Public Health Commission as a visiting nurse in the Healthy Baby Healthy Child program.

When she was not providing compassionate care to her patients, Yolène could be found enjoying her love of sports and music. She enjoyed watching all sports and cheering for her favorite teams and players. Her zest for life was only matched by her desire to bring joy to others, which included serenading her relatives and friends at family gatherings or visiting the elderly in her community.

Due to safety restrictions in accordance with the COVID-19 emergency, a private funeral service will be held with interment to follow at Milton Cemetery. The Neptune Family looks forward to celebrating Yolène’s life with a public memorial service to be announced at a later date.

Norma G. Glynn

Norma Gloria (De Stefano) Glynn, of Milton, died Tuesday March 17, 2020.

She was born in Boston on June 8, 1923 to Domenic and Maria (Nutile) De Stefano. She grew up in Dorchester with her brothers Henry, Domenic (Dib), Robert and sisters Amalia (Alma), Nicoletta (Tetta) and Alba.

Norma was a graduate of Lasell Jr College and a dedicated employee at The Century Paper Company. Her career eventually took her to providing homes for many families in Milton when she began her life in real estate with Ann DeWolfe. Norma was a highly respected real estate professional for thirty years and loved her work. 

Her love of music was fostered early in her life her while attending the opera with her family. She enjoyed playing popular songs on the piano and her favorite song was “Smile” sung by Judy Garland.  

Norma will be remembered as a gracious and welcoming host to family, friends, and neighbors.  She was always known to have food cooking on the stove and used meals to engage with those she loved.  She was an exceptional cook learning from her mother as a child. She passed on her love of cooking to many and hosted countless holidays and celebrations in her home. Those who visited Norma’s home would always leave with more food than when they arrived. In her later years, Norma spent time cooking, sharing stories and socializing with loved ones at her home.

She also had a special bond with her dedicated group of women who cared for her, Kerry, Olga, Meghan, Janice, Maggie, Lynn, MJ, Raquel and Maria that were always at her side. 

She lived her faith as a devout Catholic with a special love for the Blessed Mother whose portraits adorned her home. 

She is survived by two adoring children Susan (Glynn) Fallon of Belmont, and Frank Glynn of Quincy, their spouses Joseph Fallon and Ann Marie Glynn. Her grandchildren Elizabeth Fallon, Michael Fallon, Brendan Glynn, Shannon Glynn, Timothy Glynn and a large and loving extended family.

Norma requested that everyone know three things: She truly loved her family, she truly loved her friends and she really loved watching the movie “Animal House” (a film that was guaranteed to make her laugh).

Norma will be dearly missed by so many. She was a treasure of life. You will be loved forever Norma.

A private funeral Mass was held at St Elizabeth’s Church in Milton on March 18, 2020.

Rita A. Walsh

Rita A. Walsh, of Milton, passed away Sunday March 22, 2020.

Born on July 6, 1919, she was over 100 years old. Rita was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Nora (O’Halloran) Walsh and sister of the late Mary E. Walsh, Edward J. Walsh, Eleanor C. Doherty, Deacon Vincent P. Walsh and Reverend Paul T. Walsh.

Rita was a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and great grand-nieces and great grand-nephews.

Burial will be private. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date.

Stephen F. Gallagher

Stephen F. Gallagher Jr., of Dorchester, formerly of Milton, passed away suddenly, after a brief illness, Friday March 20, 2020.

Born and raised in Milton, Stephen was a graduate of St. Agatha School and Archbishop Williams High School and had attended Quincy College. He worked at General Dynamics for over 30 years as a Quality Assurance and Inspection Manager in the Missions System division.

Stephen was a loving, generous, and giving person, quiet and introspective with a kind heart; he loved music, especially the Beatles and classic rock, was an avid guitarist who played in several bands growing up. He loved to “tinker” and fix things, was fond of woodworking, often making unique hand-crafted ornaments for family and friends at Christmas. He loved to celebrate family, friends and holidays, especially his deep-rooted Irish heritage on St. Patrick’s Day.

Son of the late Stephen F. and Eileen (Naughton) Gallagher. Father of Christopher Gallagher. Brother of Patrick J. Gallagher. Stephen will forever be remembered by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family and dear friends.

A private family visitation and funeral service will be held.

Michael F. Cunningham

Michael F. Cunningham, of Dorchester, died Wednesday March 18, 2020.

Beloved son of the late James P. and Frances (O’Connor) Cunningham. Brother of James P. Cunningham Jr. and his wife Judi, Joan Lenihan and her husband Edward, Neil Cunningham and his wife Joan, Lawrence Cunningham and his wife Michelle and the late John Cunningham and Mark Cunningham. Uncle of Brendan Cunningham, Liana Cunningham, Kayleen Lenihan, Caroline Cunningham, Colleen Cunningham and Caitlin Cunningham.

A private funeral service will be held with interment to follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. A public memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.

Phyllis C. Connolly

Phyllis Catherine Connolly, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 after a brief illness.

She was born in Boston, MA to the late Thomas and Helen (Cleary) Belton. She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Francis J. Connolly (Retired BPD), sons Robert and Stephen Connolly, brother Thomas Belton and sister Helen Murphy. She is survived by her daughter Joan (Bill) of Holden, sons Kevin of Coconut Creek, FL, John (Mary) of Milton, and Paul (Stacey) of Weymouth. She leaves behind nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis graduated from Boston Girls’ High School in 1947. She was employed in her teens by Jordan Marsh. She married the love of her life, Frank Connolly whom she met roller skating as a teenager, on May 20, 1951. Together they started their family of six beloved children in Roslindale. In the 1960s, they outgrew their home and relocated to Milton. Phyllis was employed as a bookkeeper for many years at various companies including Drakes, Field Insurance, Wright and Ditson, and finished her career at Curry College in Milton.

Phyllis was most happy when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Phyllis was a talented artist painting numerous oil paintings and portraits. She also loved creating floral arrangements and giving them to family and friends.  She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and sewing. Throughout her life she enjoyed boating with Frank around the Boston Harbor Islands and in Florida where she would travel annually visit her sons.

Due to the COVID-19 virus restrictions, services were private.  Donations can be made in Phyllis’ name to Make a Wish Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.  The Connolly Family wishes to thank the staff at Seasons Hospice for their compassionate care during the last few weeks of her life.

Lessie Vertelia Harris

Lessie Vertelia Harris of Roxbury passed away on March 13, 2020.  Beloved wife of the late Roosevelt Harris.  Loving mother of Loretta, Vivian, Ronnie, Anita, Brett, Pamela, Stacey, Anthony, Patricia, Tasha and the late Kenneth and Roosevelt.  Sister of Jean McAden, Verline Williams , Lucinda Thornton and the late Patricia Tucker, Juanita Kinton, Andrew, Elise and Edward Thorton.  Sister in law of Elijah Kinton.  Cherished grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Lessie was born in Oxford,  North Carolina to the late Edward and Ophelia Thornton.  She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.  She raised her 12 Children in a home full of love and memories and laughter.  She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking for family gatherings and most of all spoiling her grandchildren.  Lessie will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

A private funeral will be held at Morning Star Baptist Church. A celebration of life is planned for a later date. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. 

Derrick A. Snowden

Derrick A. Snowden, of Milton, died unexpectedly on March 14, 2020 at 49 years of age.

He is the beloved son of the late Kenneth Snowden and the late Gloria (Ward) Snowden. Derrick is survived by his brother Kyle Snowden, his wife Alissa, and their children, all of Sudbury. Derrick is also survived by his cousins and other extended family.

At the request of the family, the funeral and burial are private and a public memorial will be announced at a later date.

James J. Tyrrell

James J. Tyrrell, of Milton, March 17, 2020.

Beloved husband of Pamela J. Smith.  Devoted brother of Alice Bazlen of AZ and Lynn Tyrrell of CT.  Jim is also survived by his faithful dog, Nevis.

Lillian M. DeLorenzo (Dunkley) 96, of Peabody, formerly of Quincy passed peacefully on March 15th.  Beloved wife of late John DeLorenzo and mother to Bonita and Anthony DeLorenzo and grandson Derrick along with many nieces and nephews.  Funeral service will be private for the immediate family only.
