Lillia Belle (Larson) Cook of Quincy, January 8, 2018.

Loving wife of the late Gerald E. Cook.  Beloved mother of Florence M. Ragusa of Quincy, Donald R. Cook of Halifax, Enid L. Holmes of Quincy and Pamela J. and her husband K. David Callaway of Loxley, AL.  Lillia is survived by ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and is the sister of the late Warren and Walter Larson.

Visiting hour at  the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday, January 11 from 11-12 PM.  Graveside service will be celebrated in Milton Cemetery, 211 Centre Street, Milton at 12:30 PM.  Family and friends invited.

Ann M. (Connolly) Meehan

Meehan, Ann M. (Connolly) of Rochester and Quincy, January 7, 2018.  Loving wife of the late Richard H. Meehan.  Beloved mother of Valerie Farretta and her husband Michael of Rochester, MA, Richard S. Meehan and his wife Nancy (Donovan) of Wakefield, RI and Jeff L. Meehan of Hull, MA.  Ann is survived by her beautiful granddaughters Katrina and her husband Kevin, Shannon and her husband Trent and Natasha Meehan of RI, her sisters Louise Croke of Quincy, Peggy Libby of Nashville, TN and the late Kitty Harrigan, as well as, many nieces, nephews she dearly loved.

Ann enjoyed bowling and golfing.  She was a lifelong member of the Wollaston Golf Club were she perfected her short game.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary Church, West Quincy, Friday, January 12 at 10:30 am.  Relatives and friends invited. Stephen Arthur Dowling

Stephen A. Dowling, of Milton and Vero Beach, FL, passed away on Saturday January 7, 2018.

Born in Waterbury CT, he moved to Brighton area. Steve attended and graduated from Boston College, Class of 1954. He then enlisted in the US Navy as a naval officer, serving in Guam. Steve worked for the Boston Globe for a time then moved to a noteworthy career in the investment business with Solomon Brothers and most recently with Morgan Stanley, with a careful caring approach that gained him countless friends.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife M. Patricia (Leary) Dowling. Father of  Donald Dowling of Rutland, VT. Brother of Mary Jane Sullivan of Belmont and the late Richard F. Dowling. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Steve and Patsy were long time, loyal members of Wollaston Golf Club and devoted parishioners of St. Elizabeth’s Church in Milton

They were quiet but generous philanthropists gifting many organizations in the Boston area most notably Ursuline Academy, Boston College, The Museum of Fine Arts and St. Elizabeth’s Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday January 10th, in St. Elizabeth Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours from the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. EAST MILTON SQUARE, Tuesday 3 – 7 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.

Albert F. McDonnell

Albert F. McDonnell, 76, of Dorchester, passed away on January 4, 2018.

Albert was the loving son of the late John J. and Edna L. (Ferrari) McDonnell, Sr..  Beloved brother of Arlene McDonnell of Dorchester, Michael McDonnell of Las Vegas, NV, John J. McDonnell, Jr., of Fitchburg, MA, Maureen McDonnell of Quincy and Deborah and her husband Charlie of Dorchester.  Albert is also survived by his niece Kerry Durant and her fiancé Jack Amorim and his grandnephews Aidan and Evan Amorim, all of Dorchester.

Albert is a graduate of St. Ambrose Grammar School, Boston Technical High School and attended St. John’s Seminary.  He was a professed brother for twenty years for the Sons of Mary Missionary Society in Framingham, MA.  Albert enjoyed his time as the moderator for the facebook site: Dorchester The Old and The New.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in March at Saint Peter Church, 278 Bowdoin Street, Dorchester, MA.

Anne P. Crowley

Anne P. Crowley (Connors) of Milton died at 100 years old on January 3, 2018.  Devoted wife  of the late Joseph A. Crowley.  Beloved mother of Anne Holloway and her husband Jack of Atherton,  California.   Dearest  sister of the late Gretchen C. Dooley  and her husband John J. Dooley.  Cherished  grandmother of Michael James Holloway.  Anne’s family would like to thank the women who gave Anne wonderful care over the past 10 years; Sherry Bennett, Kelley Bennett, Donna Keddy, Marybeth Mayo, Theresa McLaughlin, Betty Shea, Mary Swan and Patricia Young, these ladies were angels.

Anne was a Bostonian through and through,  as graduate of Girls Latin High School, New England Conservatory of Music and Simmons College.  She was Children’s Librarian for 40 years where she pioneered the  bookmobile  program and her summer reading club. She  was  also  an active  member of the Milton Woman’s Club.  Anne Celebrated her 100th birthday on September 16, 2017 with her family and dear friends.  She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved her.

Phillip Lovelock

Phillip Lovelock of Mattapan, January 3, 2018. Beloved husband of Gloria (Crewe) Lovelock. Loving father of Sharon Williams, June Lovelock, Sandrea Lovelock Williams, Phyllis Lovelock, and Linton Lovelock. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 13 at Pentacostal of Boston, 1205 Hyde Park Avenue, Hyde Park at 11AM. A viewing will be held prior to the service at 10AM. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Mavis Melhado

Mavis Melhado, of Milton, January 2, 2018.

Beloved wife of the late Gerald Melhado and the late Vincent Oliver.  Loving mother of Andrew Melhado of Milton. Beloved grandmother of Ryan Melhado, Justin Melhado and Charnae Reid and great-grandmother of Adonis and Hanson Reid.  Daughter of the late Zephaniah and Itahalin (Oliver) Leachman.  Mavis was the eldest of ten children.  She is survived by her brothers Gauntlet and Leslie Leachman and her sisters Pearly Murray, Sarah Young and Albertine James. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her “Aunty Momma” and several cousins in Jamaica, Canada, England and other parts of the world.

Mavis was born in Kentish District, St. Catherine Jamaica on October 25, 1923.  She moved to England were she lived with her fist husband Vincent Oliver until he passed away.  Returning to Jamaica she resided in the District of Glade, St. Catherine.  Mavis had her own business as a shop keeper, house wife, aunt and care taker for her community and family.  She adopted Pamela Ferguson (Vinny) and Jean Ballantine and raised them until her departure to the USA. While in the US, Mavis worked as a home aide to Ms. McMahon and later at Flower Fifth Memorial Hospital.

A visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Sunday, January 7 from 1:00-3:30 PM.  A Funeral Service will follow at 3:30 PM.  Family and friends are invited.

Robert G. FitzGerald, Jr., of Milton & Falmouth, December 30, 2017.

Beloved husband of Carolyn (Kealey) FitzGerald of Milton. Loving father of Alexandra FitzGerald and Brianne FitzGerald, also of Milton. Cherished son of Marjorie F. (Gill) FitzGerald and the late Robert G. FitzGerald, Sr. of Milton. Bob is also survived by his five siblings, Jeanne FitzGerald of Canton, Maureen Pacella of Dedham, Patricia Deware of Needham, Richard FitzGerald of Milton, and John FitzGerald of Quincy, and a host of devoted nieces and nephews.

Francis M. Cosgrove

Francis M. Cosgrove, of Dorchester, a retired construction laborer, died at his home, surrounded by his family, Thursday December 28, 2017.

Beloved husband of Kathleen (Connolly) Cosgrove. Devoted father of Kelly Ann Alves and the late Patrick Rogers (BPD). Proud grandfather of Devon Rogers, Caitlin Alves, Makenzie Rogers, Benjamin Sullivan and Phelim Rogers. Frank is survived by brothers Martin S., Dennis W., Rev. Joseph J. and Michael Cosgrove and sisters Mary F. Lane, Eileen Keeney and Teresa M. McMorrow. He is predeceased by siblings Kathleen M. Wood, Virginia F. Manoli, Walter J. and Vincent J. Cosgrove. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
