Mario F. Aiello

Mario F. Aiello of Dorchester formerly of Hyde Park died on September 27, 2018 surrounded by his family. Beloved longtime life partner of Catherine Duggan of Dorchester. Loving father of Stephen Duggan and his wife Wyslande of Dorchester. Father of Patricia, Jean and the late John Aiello. Brother of the late Salvatore, Susan, Antoinette, Mary, Joseph and Charlie Aiello.

Mario was born in Boston and raised in Readville. He was a decorated veteran of WWII. He was a successful Commercial Builder in the Boston area for many years before retiring. He enjoyed cooking old school Italian specialties and sharing them with his family. Mario loved horse racing and was owner to several race horses. Most of all Mario cherished his family who were the most important aspect of his life. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved him.

 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday October 6, 2018 in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester Lower Mills 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM. A Service will follow at 1:00 PM in the DolanFuneral Home and conclude with Military Honors. Cremation to Follow.

Marianne Panita (Lamothe) Mathurin

Marianne Panita (Lamothe) Mathurin, of Dorchester, passed away at home surrounded by her family on September 19, 2018 at the age of 104.

Beloved wife of the late Jean Leonce Mathurin. Loving mother of Jeanne Boursiquot of Florida and her husband Iriel, Annie Dorcena of Dorchester and her husband Andre, Nella Thegenus of Dorchester and her husband Moise, Eustache Mathurin of Florida and his wife Jeannette, Marie Mathurin of Randolph and her husband Lucas, Joseph Mathurin of Boston and his wife Yolette, Jean Luc Mathurin of Dorchester and his wife Jocelyne, Josette Thecka of Randolph and her husband Edgard, and the late Jean Claude Mathurin of Boston and his wife Victoire.

Born in La Vallée de Jacmel, Haiti on May 19, 1914, she raised 9 children with her beloved, late husband that has grown to include 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family Church, 24 Hartford Street, Dorchester, Saturday September 29 at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Friday 6-9 PM. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Rosamond Rita (Valair) Reidy

Rosamond Rita (Valair) Reidy, 83, of Newton, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018.

Beloved mother of Thomas Reidy of Arlington and Mary Staude of Stoneham. Loving sister of William Valair of Norwell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Thursday, September 27th at 11:30 am.  Family and friends invited.

Richard Cripps

Richard Cripps, 84, of Milton, formerly of Watertown, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, September 18, 2018.

Beloved husband of 57 years to Fonny (Marple) Cripps.  Loving father of Kathryn Werner, Lynda Craft and the late Sandra Pierce. Successful businessman, devoted friend and trusted companion to his cat Boo.

Memorial service will be celebrated in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON  on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 11:00 – 12:00 noon. Interment private.

Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of the South Shore.

 

 

Richard Michael Sheehan

Richard M. Sheehan, 52, of Milton, died suddenly September  18, 2018.

Beloved son of James L. and the late Lorraine (Hollien) Sheehan.  Loving brother of James L. Sheehan Jr. and the late Timothy P. Sheehan and the loving  uncle of Andrew and Brittany Sheehan.  Beloved grandson of the late Frederick “Sonny” and Lorraine Hollien and the late James and Palmira Sheehan.  Fondly remembered by his extended family and friends.

David B. Ellis, Jr.

David B. Ellis, Jr., of Onset, passed away September 17, 2018.

Born in Acushnet, he was the son of Donna Fogg Plouffe Ellis of Onset and David B. Ellis, Sr., of Marion. He was 39 years old.

David had many medical struggles over the years and his mother was his greatest advocate and a tireless caregiver. It is thanks to her and his caring and compassionate physician, Dr. Fred Mandell, that David was able to live the life he did.

David had many hobbies and loved being part of his community. Over the years, he organized Pokemon tournaments for the YMCA in New Bedford and called bingo for several community organizations, most recently for the Friends of the Wareham Elderly on Mondays and at Our Lady of Lourdes in Carver on Wednesdays. He enjoyed travelling to Foxwoods with friends to play bingo, bowling, archery, game shows, and watching WWE events. He enjoyed iced coffee every afternoon and was a pickle connoisseur.

David leaves behind his beloved cat, Macy, his parents, his sister Jessica Ellis Wilson of Onset, his brother and sister-in-law Nathan Ellis and Kate Gomes of Dartmouth, his grandmother Mary Fogg Pellicer of St. Augustine, FL, and many other loving relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his beloved Chrystal Hanley of Acushnet, who passed in 1998. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, Oct 19th, at 6:30pm at the Onset VFW at 4 Gibbs Ball Park Rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spend time with your loved ones. Hug them tight, tell them you love them, and appreciate them while you have the chance.

Robert “Skip” Adams

Adams “Skip” Robert, of Brockton,  passed away September 16, 2018 at the age of 71.

Skip was born in Chelsea, grew up in Roxbury and attended Dorchester High School. He worked for New England Telephone Company as a Project Manager and retired from Verizon after 31 years of service.

Skip leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Rona Cox-Adams; Samantha ,  Rona and Mark Lattimore, Hugh and Monique Little, 5 grandchildren, Mary and Ernest Dodson; and a host of loving family members and friends.

His Homegoing Services will be on Sunday September 23 from 2-5 pm at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS.

 

Patricia Ann (Manion) DiRico

Patricia Ann (Manion) DiRico, of Milton, died peacefully, surrounded by her children Monday, September 17, 2018. She was 86 years old.

The daughter of the late Joseph Manion and Jeannette (MacPherson) Manion, she was raised in Waltham, Massachusetts graduating from St Mary’s High School. She married the love of her life Henry DiRico of Milton, MA. They were married for 50 years. They enjoyed wonderful friendships skiing in North Conway, NH, playing golf at The Wollaston Golf Club in Milton and Hobe Sound in Florida. She loved to travel and cook, often recalling her cooking skills from a trip to Paris

La Varenne culinary school. Pat loved to throw a good party and with her piercing blue eyes and magnetic smile her grace and elegance would light up the room. A vivacious gardener she loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Her main focus was being an extraordinary mother to her four children and later a grandmother to 13 grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Henry A. DiRico. Loving mother of H. Anthony DiRico and his wife Jennifer of Milton, Francesca DiRico of South Boston, Maria Temple and her husband Brian of Westwood and Rose Miller and her husband Peter of Scituate. Grandmother of Olivia, Henry Anthony III, Charles, and Nicholas DiRico; Madison and John McCormack “Mac” Feeney; Simone, Von and Dresden Temple; Isabella, Harry, Alessandra and Frankie Miller. Sister of the late Donald J. Manion and his wife Nancy Manion of Larchmont, NY, the late Joseph E. Manion Jr. and his late wife Kathy of Weston and the late Janet (Manion) O’Connor of Tampa, Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Saturday September 22 at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Friday 4-8 PM. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery.

Eleanor Cifrino Flynn

Eleanor Cifrino Flynn of Fredericksburg, VA died on Saturday, September 8, 2018. Eleanor was born in 1938 in Boston to Italian immigrants who had come to America as young children: her mother, Mary Ferroli from Tramonte de Mezzo in northern Italy and her father, Paul Cifrino from Prepezzano in Campagnia, southern Italy. Paul and his brother John founded Upham’s Corner Market, which later grew to become Purity Supreme Markets.

Eleanor attended Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury, Massachusetts and graduated from Trinity College in Washington, DC after spending a year at the University of Exeter in Devon, England. Eleanor received her Master of Library Science degree from Catholic University and then worked for many years at the D.C. firms Shea & Gardner and Vinson & Elkins.

Intelligent, witty, and beautiful, Eleanor delighted in reading, travel, dancing, sledding, and Jackson Browne. She loved the beach, from her childhood at Scituate in Massachusetts to her many trips to the Caribbean and her years spent at Scientists Cliffs, Maryland. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Martin John Flynn; and former husband, David Boyce Cobey; sisters Anne Garvey and Beth Cifrino; and brothers John and Paul Cifrino. Survivors include her brother James Cifrino of Cohasset; sister Mary Roever of Hingham; her children, John Cobey, Alice Cobey (Chris Glover), and Damian Cobey (Marylise), all of Fredericksburg, VA; her step-children, Michael Flynn, Terence Flynn (Nerissa Lim), Molly Stevens (Coach), Frank Flynn (Michelle), Thomas Flynn, and Kevin Flynn; her beloved grandchildren, Owen, Evan, Liza, Lila, Colin, Devin, Kyra, Reagan, Penny, Patrick, Megan, Aidan, and Kellen; and many much-loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

All are invited to the Graveside Service at Saint Michael’s Cemetery, 227 Walk Hill Street entrance, Boston, MA, Saturday October 6 at 11:00 AM.

Mitchell Carroll

Dr. Mitchell Carroll “Mitch” of Milton, age 86, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (Hassett) Carroll for 58 years. Loving father of Lisa Leavitt and her husband Edward of Braintree, Judith Carroll of Quincy, Susan Gill and her husband Robert of Braintree, Mitchell D. Carroll and his wife Francine of Stoneham, and Nancy Trotta and her husband Vincenzo of Braintree. Devoted grandfather of Aidan Leavitt of Braintree, Andrew Gill of Braintree, Mitchell J. and Grace Carroll of Stoneham, and Madeline, Benjamin, Amelia and Samuel Trotta of Braintree. Son of the late Charles and Penelopi Carroll of Natick, son-in-law of the late Jeremiah and Mary Hassett of Brighton, and brother of Mary and the late Richard Potter of Natick. Predeceased by Olga and Joe Cozzolino of Worcester, Alex Carroll of New Hampshire, Margaret and Charles Kilty of Weymouth, Marie and Lawrence Prior of Braintree, Jeremiah Hassett of Brighton and Ellen Connors of Plymouth. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Tufts University and Tufts Medical School, Dr. Carroll served in the Navy Reserve as a Lt. Commander. Dr. Carroll was a vascular and general surgeon, practicing in Dorchester and Milton while serving as the Chief of Surgery at Carney Hospital. Deriving pure joy from sharing his knowledge, Mitch was an instructing professor at Boston University School of Medicine.

He was an avid golfer, woodworker, gardener and overall Renaissance man. Mitch cherished his beloved dogs, Behr and Opi. A tremendously brilliant and talented man, his greatest gifts were his kind heart and sense of humor. The eternal optimist, Mitch lived his life by a guiding principle that “life is good”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday September 21, 2018 at 9:00am in Saint Agatha Church, East Milton Square.  Visiting hours on Thursday 4-8PM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, East Milton.  Interment in Milton Cemetery, Milton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society/Melanoma Research Alliance and the Seasons Hospice in Milton.
