Patricia Ann (Walker) Vining of Braintree, beloved wife of the late John F. Vining III, died January 23rd at Sunrise of Braintree, surrounded by family and under the excellent care of Old Colony Hospice.
Patricia was born on January 10, 1933 in Boston, where she spent most of her childhood. She graduated in 1955 from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing, and carried her nursing skills with her as John’s work brought their growing family around the country and the world. Her professional career included several areas of nursing including many years in geriatrics. She proudly stated that as a graduate of MGH, the only question she was ever asked was “When can you start?”
Patricia was devoted to her family–first her children, then grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her extended family and the many friends who became family. She genuinely loved people with a warmth and enthusiasm that drew them to her. She supported her children’s athletics, and her beloved Red Sox, with similar fervor, pride and ownership. She was very athletic in her youth, and played softball and bowled as an adult. In sports and in cards she played to win. She loved travel and new places, which is fortunate as she moved more than 30 times in her life. But Boston was always home.
She is survived by her children: Christopher Vining of CT, Eric Vining of NC, Peter Vining of PA, Victorine Muse, M.D., of Milton, Timothy Vining of Waltham, Thomas Vining of Westford, and Valerie Salmons, M.D., of PA, and their spouses; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Fulp of VA and Joan Fede of FL; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and beloved friends around the country and in Ireland.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Walker, and her dear cousin Norma King, among other beloved cousins.
The family will receive friends and family at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Sunday, January 27, 4-6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 28, at Saint Agatha Church, MILTON, at 10:30 am. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, BRAINTREE.

Fr. Myron McCormick, OFM, 98, a professed Franciscan friar for 71 years and a priest for 66, died on Jan. 21 at Holy Name Friary, Ringwood, NJ.
A wake service is planned for 4 p.m. on Thursday January 24 at Holy Name Friary at 2 Morris Rd. in Ringwood. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday January 25 at St. Anthony Church, 65 Bartholdi Ave., Butler, NJ. Provincial Minister Fr. Kevin Mullen, OFM, will preside.
On Saturday January 26, funeral services will take place in Boston, where Fr. McCormick lived for many years. A viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at St. Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch St., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Frank Sevola, OFM, guardian, at 9:30 a.m. He will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Early Years
Fr. McCormick was born on June 26, 1920, in Philadelphia to John and Mary (nee O’Neil) and baptized John Joseph. He attended West Catholic School for Boys in Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Finance before going to St. Joseph Seraphic Seminary in Callicoon, N.Y. He was received into the Order of Friars Minor on Aug. 12, 1946 in Paterson, N.J., where he professed his first vows as a Franciscan one year later.
He made his solemn profession on Sept. 17, 1950, at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in Washington, D.C., and was ordained to the priesthood on June 28, 1952 in Washington. In 1954, Fr. McCormick earned a master’s degree in classical languages from St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y.
Ministry
His first assignment was to Bishop Timon High School in Buffalo, N.Y., where he taught for six years before moving to Olean, N.Y., where he served as assistant principal and teacher at Bishop Walsh High School from 1959 to 1960. Fr. McCormick then returned to St. Joseph Seraphic Seminary for eight years, holding various positions including dean, registrar and vice rector. In 1968, he moved to Silver Spring, Md., to serve as registrar for the Washington Theological Coalition.
Two years later, Fr. McCormick was appointed director of pilgrimages at St. Anthony Shrine in Boston. He worked in this capacity for one year before serving briefly as assistant pastor of St. Francis Parish in Wanaque, N.J. After the Callicoon seminary closed in 1972, Fr. McCormick returned to the campus to oversee the buildings and grounds until the property was sold. He went back to St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, serving as an assistant for two years until he moved to St. Francis Chapel in the Prudential Center in Boston.
In 1981, Fr. McCormick left Boston for Croghan, N.Y, where he served as pastor of St. Stephen of Hungary Parish for one year. After expressing interest in ministering to the sick and retired friars, Fr. McCormick was assigned to St. Anthony Friary in St. Petersburg, Fla. He worked there for three years before he moved north to serve as pastor of St. Joseph’s Parish in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. In 1990, Fr. McCormick returned to St. Anthony Shrine in Boston, where he remained for 24 years until he retired in 2014 to the Province’s skilled nursing facility in Ringwood.

Edward F. “Ted” McGilvery Jr., of Milton and East Sandwich, passed away January 23rd at his home after a lengthy illness.
Raised in Quincy, Ted was a hall of fame defensive tackle and graduate of Boston College High School. He is an alumnus of College of The Holy Cross, where he starred on the field as well. Ted made his career in the commercial flooring business and founded Independent Flooring in 2000. A lifelong golfer, Ted had his first hole-in-one at Brookside Golf Course at the age of 67.
Son of the late Kathleen and Edward McGilvery. Beloved husband of 47 years to Jane (Howe) McGilvery. Devoted father to Susan of Quincy (his favorite), Brian and his wife Emily of Milton, Keith of Hartford, CT and Mark his girlfriend Liza of Charleston, SC. Loving brother to Judy Barnstead and her husband Bill of Brewster. Adoring and funny uncle to Kim, Beth, James, Jennifer, Eric, Pam Daniel, Justin, Caitlin and Kerry. Cherished Grampy to Teddy and Eloise.

William Douglas Fountain, our beloved husband, father and grandfather quietly departed this life at Jackson South Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida on Wednesday, January 9,Family and friends always referred to William as “Doug”. Doug is survived by his beloved soulmate Janice Alfred Fountain, his mother Eva; his daughter Felicia (Rodney) of Boston, Massachusetts; his son William Fountain of Boston, Massachusetts and stepson Pierre Alfred (and wife Dina) from Dallas, Texas. He leaves to mourn as well his two sisters: Mary Foster of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Gloria (Robert) Hamilton of Freeport, New York; seven brothers: Charlie (Mary) of Richmond, Virginia; devoted brother Robert
(Sarah) of South Boston, Virginia; Gerald (Dorothy) of Richmond, Virginia; John (Dorothy) of Northern Virginia; George of Jacksonville, Florida; Wyatt (Vanessa) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Marvin of Halifax, Virginia.He also leaves to mourn five grandchildren (Jasmin DeAngelo, Derik DeAngelo, Dezeray Flores, Ania Jones, and Nila Jones) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Doug was born on September 13, 1951 in Virgilina, Virginia (Halifax County). Doug is the son of Eva Owen Fountain and the late Ellis Randolph Fountain. He was the grandson of paternal grandparents Nathan and Nancy Fountain and maternal grandmother Susie Owen all whom preceded him in death. Doug accepted Christ at an early age and became an active member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Virgilina, Virginia.
Doug was educated in Halifax County schools and attended Averette College in Danville, Virginia. He worked for Westinghouse and JP Stevens Manufacturing in South Boston, Virginia. During his employment, Doug rose to supervisory status in both positions. After several years in South Boston,Virginia, Doug relocated to Boston, Massachusetts. While there, he was employed with The Four River Shipyard where his occupation was an underwater welder for ships. He worked many jobs before finding a home at the MBTA as a conductor until his retirement. Doug was also known for his immense passion for politics and he was active with the NAACP. He was loved and those blessed to be around him enjoyed his sense of humor. Doug enjoyed watching Westerns with his wife Janice, playing his guitar and singing. Among many things, Doug taught Martial Arts while living in Boston and always loved hunting with his brothers and nephews down South. His favorite sports team was the New England Patriots, which he would say when the game was too close “it ain’t over til the fat lady sings!” Living life and enjoying family was his mantra. After retiring from the MBTA, Doug and his beloved Janice relocated to Miami, Florida where they lived until he departed this life.

Wright, Mary (Kerrigan) of Milton died on January 19, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Robert Z. Wright. Mother of James Wright of Worcester and John Wright and his wife Mary of Illinois. Sister of the late John and Michael Kerrigan, Jr. Grandmother of Kathleen Wright of Seattle, WA. Mary worked for many years for Sheraton Hotels. She was a devoted Catholic and dedicated much time to Saint Gregory Church.

Mary E. Connolly, 96, of Milton. Born in Boston and educated in the Boston Public Schools, graduate of South Boston High School. Mary worked as an administrative assistant for the Federal Railroad Administration. She was the most senior employee at the time of her retirement in 1985. After her retirement she was totally dedicated to her grand nieces and nephews.
Mary was the sister of the late Madeline Devin and Joseph Connolly and aunt of the late Kathleen Mullen and Michael Devin. She is survived by her nephews Brian and George Devin of Milton and grand nieces and nephews Molly and Julie Mullen, Michael, Max, Courtney, Kerry, Nora and Samantha Devin.
The family wishes to thank the sisters and staff of Marian Manor for the comfort provided to Mary for the last few years.
Interment New Calvary Cemetery will be private.
Leo J. Morrissey, of Milton, Thursday, January 17, 2019.
Born in Dorchester, Leo Morrissey was a graduate of Boston College High School, an alumnus of Boston College. An executive with Hastings-Tapley Insurance, Cambridge, Mr. Morrissey was an active alum of Boston College, a long-time season ticket holder for its football, basketball and hockey teams. A member of the BC Gridiron Club, Mr. Morrissey enjoyed stopping opposing teams’ fans and striking up impromptu conversations.
A life-long member of the Roman Catholic Church, Mr. Morrissey undertook and led Cursillo retreats, volunteered at My Brother’s Keeper, in Easton, MA, and with friends and family started Por Christo, a charity delivering medical services to Ecuador.
A self-identified parrot-head, Mr. Morrissey chased sea views and warm weather, in Orleans, MA, and on St. John, USVI, sharing both places with as many friends and family as he could, all at the same time. An inveterate teller of tall tales, Mr. Morrissey was once instructed, in his ancestral Ireland, never to let the truth get in the way of a good story, advice he took seriously and to comic effect.
Smitten and loving husband to the late Margaret (“Peg”) Morrissey, his “girlfriend of sixty years.” Loving father of Leo J. “Lee” Morrissey, Jr., of Clemson, SC, Daniel J. Morrissey of Ashburnham, MA, and Michelle M. Morrissey of Brookline. Grandfather of Declan Morrissey, Owen Morrissey, Mairead Morrissey, Sonali Morrissey-Dhekne and Kieran Morrissey-Dhekne.
