Helen (Christo) Healy, of Plymouth, formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Saturday  September 14th at the age of 72.

Born on September 17, 1946 in Boston; loving daughter of the late Nicholas and Olga Christo. Helen was raised in Dorchester surrounded by a large and loving Albanian family. She graduated from Dorchester High School and shortly after began working in administrative roles in the financial services industry while traveling extensively with her sisters and friends. In June of 1973 she met Jim Healy, and after only knowing each other for 41 days knew that they were meant to spend the rest of their lives together. Helen and Jim were married in April of 1974 and moved to Milton to begin a family. During her time living in Milton and raising her two daughters in the local schools Helen made lifelong friends. Families that were part of their pre-school communities are still close and cherished friends today 40 years later. In every phase of her personal and professional life she made connections with people who would be with her for the rest of her life. She had a way of connecting with people and maintaining friendships across decades. Helen’s passions in life were spending time and traveling with her husband, family and best friends. But her favorite role was that of a Grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, and Charlotte whom she loved to the moon and back. They were the loves of her life who she spoiled with so much love and who brought so much joy and happiness into her life.

Helen is survived by her beloved husband and soul mate of 45 years Jim Healy; her devoted & loving daughters Stephanie Boyden and her husband of Brian of Norwell and Lauren Thiounn and her husband Rick of New York City; her cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Zachary and Charlotte; her dear siblings Jean Anderson of Abington, Barbara Kehoe of Lakeville and Linda DiFonte of Pepperell; and her very close sister-in-law Noreen Lefever of Pennsylvania. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services in celebration of Helen’s life will be held in Holy Trinity Albanian Orthodox Church, 245 D Street, South Boston on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00am. Mary “Theresa” (Mannion) Sullivan, age 87, of Kilbricken Cross, Rosmuc and Ballindooley, Galway, and formerly of Dorchester, September 10, 2019.

Devoted wife of the late Gill Sullivan. Mother of Mary Theresa Sullivan of Stoughton, Cathy Sullivan-Joyce of Stoughton, Gill Sullivan and his wife Linda of Quincy and Carol Ann Sullivan-Mannion of Braintree. Sister of the late Joe Mannion of Braintree, the late Colm Mannion of NJ, the late Eileen Mannion of Rosmuc, Anthony Mannion of Rosmuc, Oliver Mannion of Quincy, Philomena Foy of Milton and Eamonn Mannion of Quincy. Beloved grandmother “Nana” to eight grandchildren, Gill and his wife Sarah, Owen, Nina, Julia, Fionna, Catriona, Alanna and Deirdra and great-grandmother to Gill and Beau.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews & grandnieces and grandnephews.

Claire P. (Flebotte) Klehm of Milton, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 7.

Claire was born to Arthur and Annie Flebotte on November 24, 1922. Claire was a devoted wife and mother.

She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Klehm.  Devoted mother of Patricia A. Hartnett and her late husband William of Weymouth, Jeanne M. Gill and her husband Brian of Largo, FL and Nancy C. Gould and her husband Robert of Milton. 

Grandmother of Steven Burkhamer, Randy Burkhamer, Caitlin Wilson, William Hartnett and the late Michelle Worthy. Great Grandmother of William and Brianna Hartnett, Ali and Austin Burkhamer and Timothy and Lauren Worthy. Sister of the late Gertrude Rita, Arthur, Charles, Paul and Donald Flebotte.

Born in Boston, she attended Milton Public Schools and was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1929. She worked a secretary for John Hancock Insurance Company after graduation. She went on to Boston City Hospital working as a secretary until 1964. She left her employment to look after her father, the proprietor of the Daisy Donut Shop in East Milton Square as he aged. Barbara was a long-time parishioner of Church of Our Saviour in Milton. She loved to walk, do needlepoint and read. She was also fond of the cats she had over the years.

Rose M. (Siciliano) Giampaolo, 97, of Roslindale and Milton, died peacefully on Sunday September 8, 2019.

Loving wife of the late Edward A. Giampaolo.  Beloved mother of Maria Giampaolo and her husband Frank Spalluzzi of Boston, Catherine Owen and her husband Tom of CA and Michael Giampaolo and his wife Karen of Abington. Cherished grandmother of Matthew Spalluzzi and Grace Giampaolo.

John J. O’Connell Jr., of Green Harbor, Marshfield and Plymouth, formerly of Merrimack, NH, died at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth, Thursday September 5, 2019.

Born in Boston, Jack was raised in Milton and graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Mullinex as the electronics officer and in the US Naval Reserve. Jack joined Digital Equipment Corporation in its infancy, boasting a three digit badge number!  He opened sales offices in Orlando and Washington D. C. before returning to New England and finishing his long career at DEC as a Sales Training Executive. He enjoyed electronics, computers music and photography.

Son of the late John J., Sr. and Grace Mae (Greenlaw) O’Connell. Brother of Patricia Foley and her husband Thomas of Osprey, FL and Bourne and the late David G. O’Connell. Brother-in-law of Carol O’Connell of Quincy. Jack is survived by his five beloved nephews and niece, Christopher, David, Kevin, Richard and Gerald O’Connell and Christine Kollmorgen, many cousins, his best friend Debbie Kanady of Plymouth and his beloved cat Willy.

Downey, Joseph J. of Dorchester died on September 1, 2019.  Beloved husband of John Walsh of Dorchester. 

Loving son of the late Maurice Downey and Mary Jane ( Schermerhorn) Downey.  Brother of Barbara Day of Rockport, MA and the late Julie T. Downey, Maurice P. Downey, Jr., Mary Brennan, Patricia Downey, Daniel F. Downey, Eleanor Downey, his Twin Catherine E. Haley and Frances T. Downey.  Joe is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. 

Joseph was born and raised in Boston. He worked in the Banking industry for many years before retiring. Joe was an avid Red Sox fan of the course of many years. Joe traveled extensively with his husband John, they enjoyed numerous travel adventures around the world including Italy, Australia and Japan. Joe loved to cook and entertain, he had a love for animals and was very proud of his Irish heritage. Most of all Joseph had a special devotion to his family who were truly the cornerstone of his life. He will be missed by all who had the  pleasure to have known him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation on Wednesday September 11, 2019 12:00pm- 3:00PM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester, Lower Mills.  A Service will follow in the funeral home at 3:00PM.  Cremation will follow.

Marie Marshall (Bowdry) of Dorchester died on August 30, 2019 after a brief illness. 

Beloved wife of the late Litdell Marshall.  Loving mother of Donna Cabey, Mary Marshall and Monique Marshall Veale all of Boston.  Sister of the late Rosie Scales, Myrtle Bowdry, Corrie Anderson, Charles and Elzie Bowdry.  Cherished grandmother of Imani, Emilio II, Nia, Amari, Nyeilla and Alliyah.  Great-grandmother of Emilio III, Egan and Elise. Marie is also survived by many extended family and friends.

Marie was born in Baldwyn Mississippi. She went on to become a nurse, which turned into a lengthy nursing career. Marie was not only caring to all of her patients, but she opened her heart and home to everyone she knew.  She was also a devoted foster parent for many children over the years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Marie especially loved her grandchildren and the special bond she shared only with them. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

A visitation will be held on Friday September 6, 2019, 10:00am-11:00am in Berea Seventh Day Adventist Church, 108 Sever Street, Dorchester.  A service will follow at 11:00am in the Church.  Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Boston. 

Alice F. Casey, of Milton, formerly of Meetinghouse Hill, Dorchester, a retired Associate Superintendent for Boston Public Schools, passed away on September 3, 2019.

Alice was the beloved daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Callahan) Casey. Dear sister of the late Mary L. and Rose M. Casey. Cousin of Natalie Fultz of Milton and the late Louise LeGrice.

Alice served in the US Navy as a Control Tower Operator during World War II. She received a BS from UMASS/Boston (formerly Teachers College, Boston), an Ed.M from Harvard Graduate School of Education and an Ed.D from Boston College. Alice dedicated her entire career to the Boston Public School System. She began her career in 1935 as a teacher and guidance counselor (Burke High School, 1957-1965), worked as a Head Master at Girl’s High School and retired in 1975 as the Associate Superintendent of Boston Public Schools.

Alice was also a visiting lecturer at Newton College of the Sacred Heart (1957-1963) in Newton, MA and St. Joseph’s College in North Windham, Maine. In her retirement, Alice donated her time locally to the Collicot Elementary School in Milton as a member of the school’s Site Council and as a member of the school’s Homework Assistance Program. Alice was also a member of Harvard’s Institute for Learning in Retirement.

Brandon Danny Jesurum was born August 16, 1985 and died Saturday, August 24, 2019. 

He left behind 2 children and their mothers:  Demi Rae Garcon (Francesca) and Ja’ Den Malik Jesurum (Erica).  He was also survived by his parents, Juanita Ortega (nee Jesurum) and Michael Barton, his grandmother Milagros Paredes, and siblings: Jelani Jesurum, Michael Jackson, Kenny Laing, Jerome Jackson, Yolanda Jackson, Antonio Tate, Jasmine Smith (Jesurum), Yesenia Allen, and many other siblings and close relatives that he held dear to his heart.  

Brandon was tragically taken from us too soon as he was about to start a new chapter in his life and take control of his future through higher education. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union and helped construct projects such as the Encore Boston Harbor Casino in Everett and the TD Garden Parking Structure in Boston. Brandon was a family man who did whatever he could to take care of and protect his loved ones. He had a smile that could light up a room and a personality that made you feel like you were family no matter who you were. While Brandon’s journey to be great may have been cut short, his fight and determination will live on through his children and siblings and his memory will never be forgotten.
