Mary Lawrence

Mary (Gentile) Lawrence, of Milton, formerly of Hyde Park, March 6, beloved wife of the late John Lawrence.  Devoted mother of Mary Jo Swiatkowski and her husband D. Michael of Weymouth, Jane Lawrence of Boston, and Susan Hartigan and her husband Michael of Milton. Sister of Anna Orsie of Weymouth, formerly of Braintree,  Eileen Mecagni of Needham and the late Angelo Gentile, Maddie Johnson, Domenic Gentile, Marie Hameza and Joseph Gentile. Also survived by 9 grandchildren. Visiting hours in the Dolan-Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Ave., MILTON VILLAGE, Fri, 4-8 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Agatha Church, Milton, Sat. March 9 at 10:30 am.  Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, W. Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s name may be sent to National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter, P.O. Richard D. Alexander

Douglas Alexander (54) of Lynn, Massachusetts went on to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 2, 2013.  He was born in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to Gordon David and the late Barbara Nell (Payne) Alexander.  He was the loving husband of Cherrie (Wrench) Alexander, whom he married in Seattle, Washington on January 31, 1988 and the loving father of their six children; Rebekah (Potenza), Hannah, Rachel, Josiah, Samuel and Benjamin.

Richard graduated from Wabasso High School, Wabasso, MN in 1977; received his Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministry, Summa Cum Laude,from Crown College, St. Bonifacius, MN in 1997; and received his Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Hamilton, MA in 2004.

He worked at Marsh & McLennan Companies in Seattle, WA from November 1988 to March 1994; North Star Mutual Insurance in Cottonwood, MN from May 1994 to October 1998; and Salem Hospital in Salem, MA from April 1999 to July 2012.

Richard was an active ministry leader at Shiloh Fellowship in Mountlake Terrace, WA; Green Lake Presbyterian Church in Seattle, WA; Redwood Falls Assembly of God in Redwood Falls, MN, where he served as Pastoral Assistant; and since October 1998 an active member of West Congregational Church in Peabody, MA, serving on the Board of Deacons, in music ministry, and as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher.  On February 15, 2013 he accomplished his longtime goal of receiving his Ministerial License with the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference.

Richard’s first and foremost interest was knowing Jesus and making Him known.  He participated in street preaching and ministry.  He had a voracious hunger for knowledge in just about everything.  He loved Biblical studies,playing and listening to music, reading classic literature, watching old movies, studying history, gardening, politics, and sports.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his father, Gordon Alexander; stepmother, Ardis; brotherRobert Alexander and his wife Sonya; sister, Rita Alexander; and niece and nephews, Jennifer Heck, Jason Degenhart, Daniel Alexander and Jonathan Alexander.

A Memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 9, 2013 at West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson Street, Peabody.  Gifts can be directed to the Alexander Family Memorial Fund, Care of West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson Street, Peabody, MA  01960.

Una Worrell

Una (King) Worrell, 87, of Dorchester, February 28, 2013.  Loving wife of Selwyn Worrell.  Beloved mother of Darcy Worrell, June Mustafa, Patrick Worrell, Heather Fisher and Dale Worrell all of Dorchester, Denise Pierre of FL and Hettie Armstrong of Roslindale.  Sister of Enid Harris of Cambridge, Rina Wint of Dorchester, James Bynoe of London, England and the late Edwin Bynoe.  A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, March 9th, at 11A.M. in Faith Christian Church, 301 Harvard Street, Dorchester.  A visiting hour will be held prior to the funeral service in the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Herbert B. Coles

Herbert B. Coles  of Milton, March 3, 2013.  Beloved husband of Mary (Meehan).    Loving father of Mary C. McGonagle & her husband John of Woodbridge, CT, Linda J. Coles of Norwood and Carolyn M. Leary & her husband George of Braintree.  Cherished Grandfather of Megan, John and Brian McGonagle. Louise Learning

Louise (Whitten) Learning of Quincy, March 2, Devoted mother of Sandra Mastrocola of Quincy, Frederick D.  Learning  of Pembroke, Douglas Learning of S. Helen Joann Jenkins

Mrs. Helen Joann Jenkins, daughter of the late Jessie & Alverna Johnson Booker was born in Greenville, South Carolina on June 26, 1934.  On Wednesday, February 20,  Helen was called home after years of battling cancer and other illnesses.   Helen was a fighter.  Everyone who knew  her understood and admired her strength, determination and feisty ways.   Her love for her family was undeniable.  She would back you all the way if you were right but if you had your faults you would also know as well.  She didn’t bite her tongue. In her final days Helen enjoyed the comfort of her family, especially her grandchildren, an occasional trip to Foxwoods, scratching lottery tickets and shockingly developed a love for Trey Songz.  Every time she heard a song from him, especially his song “Heart Attack”,  she would just dance and sing.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Jenkins;  1 daughter, Sybil Joyner; 1 son, Michael Jenkins; 5 brothers, Fred, Albert, Charles, Elford and Jessie Booker;  2 sisters, Ollie Coleman and Doris Love;  and 2 bothers in-law, Carlyle Coleman and Cornell Jackson. She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories:  children, Carol Jenkins Sapp,  Dorothy (Bernard) Sneed, Milford (Louise) Jenkins, Robert (Lorna) Jenkins,  Cassandra, Cheryl and Talisa Jenkins all of Boston, MA;  Randall (Francis) Jenkins of Fall River, MA; son in-law Frank Joyner of Boston, MA, sisters, Marie Jackson of Plezer, SC and Margaret Booker of Kansas City, KS, ; sisters in-law, Peggy Killebrew of Bronx, NY and Hattie Booker of Kansas City, KS;  30 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Also her very best friend Nancy Dobson. Jeannine T. Lacombe

Jeannine Theresa (Joseph) Lacombe after a long illness, passed away February 23, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late Maurice Lacombe, Jeannine is survived by 4 daughters Yolaine Bellanton, Myrna Lacombe, Meriane Daphnis, Rachelle Monestine, and 5 sons  Edwin, Lesly, Raymond,Charles and Gary Lacombe. Also survived by 25 grandchildren ,12 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Albert A. Julian

 

Albert A. Julian, 87, of Dorchester, February 21, 2013.  Loving husband of the late Dorothy T. Julian.  Beloved father of Paul Julian of San Francisco, Adrienne Johnson and her husband Joseph of Harwichport, Diane Schultz of Quincy, and Margaret Julian of Quincy.  Devoted grandfather of Courtney Julian Stowers and Kyle Julian, great grandfather of Pamela “Ella” Stowers.  Brother of Ralph Julian.  Father-in-law of the late Pamela Julian.  Albert was a retired Hingham public school teacher a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a graduate of Boston College, Class of 1949.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester on Wednesday, February 27th at 10 A.M. Sr. Mary Denis Leahy mfic

Sister Mary Denis Leahy mfic, of Newton, February 19, 2013. A Professed member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception for over 70 years, Sr. Denis ministered in Montreal, Minnesota, South America (Bolivia and Peru) and Massachusetts. She taught at Mount Alvernia High School, Newton (1952-1956) and Saint Clare High School, Roslindale (1956-1963). Daughter of the late Dennis F. and Margaret (McCarthy) Leahy. Sister of the late Joan Leahy and Dennis Leahy. Sr. Denis is survived by her nephews Dennis, Charles and David Leahy, many cousins and her Franciscan community. Visitation Tuesday February 26 at 8:30 AM in the Mount Alvernia Convent Chapel, 790 Centre Street, Newton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the chapel Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Mary F. Colbert

Mary F. Colbert, 107, of Dorchester passed away on February 20, 2013.  Mary was born in Tramore, County Waterford, Ireland on July 30, 1905, daughter of the late James and Catherine (Dunphy) Keohan.  Wife of the late Patrick J. Colbert.  Beloved mother of Mary P. Harrington of Quincy, Thomas F. Colbert of Dorchester, Therese B. DeMarco and her husband Nicholas of Mansfield and Claire M. McGaffigan of Braintree.  Loving Grandmother of John S.
