Maria C. Morais

Maria C. Morais died suddenly, Feb. 17 at her home in Woburn. She was 52.

Maria was employed at Kayem Foods as a machine operator for many years.

She was the beloved daughter of Martha Ramos and the late Luis Morais. Maria was the devoted mother of Ana DePina, Lius DePina and Andrew Dossantos all of Dorchester. Grandmother of Le-Zhan Dossantos and Anaya DePina of Dorchester. Sister of Jorge Morais of RI, Ana C. Morais of Holland, Ana Marias of Cape Verde, Anildo Morais of Martinique, Arlinda ” Sissi” Morais of New Bedford, Amilcar Gomes of France, Yvette Romas and Neusa Ramos both of Cape Verde.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, 400 Dudley St., Roxbury on Saturday, Feb 23, at 10 o’clock. Visiting Hours  in the Dolan Funeral Home 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Friday 4 – 8 pm. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Alice Helen Withee

Alice Helen Withee, age 89, of Dorchester, February 14,  2013. Beloved sister of Mildred Swartzman of Florida and the late Iva Smith, Vera Smith, William Boyne, Albert Withee and Everett Withee. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral service in the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, Tuesday February 19 at 2 pm. Honorable William F. “Bill” Keenan, Sr.

Honorable William F. “Bill” Keenan, Sr. inNeedham, of Harwichport and Dorchester, age 92, Monday January 11, 2013. Former Representative and retired Adjutant of the Chelsea Soldier’s Home.  Born January 8, 1921 in Dorchester to Delia M. (Rafftery) of County Rosscommon,Ireland and William Michael Keenan of County Fermanagh,Ireland.  Brother of Joseph M. Keenan of Hamilton, New Zealand.  Husband of Marilyn (Kaplan) Keenan and father of Jude Mark Keenan who both predeceased Bill.  Survived by his children and their families: William F. Keenan Jr., MD and his wife Maryjean (Remitz) of Williamsport, PA and their children Cathy, Sean and Jude, Catherine M. Kittams, BSN and her husband Brian Kittams, MD of Lake Oswego, OR and their children Audrey (Kittams) Cosgrove-Lewandoski, and her husband Chris,  and Jessica Kittmas, Patricia M. Keenan-Luppi and her husband Mark Luppi of Needham, MA, Christopher J. Keenan, DO and his wife Monica (Delatorre) of  NJ and their children Juliana and Melissa, and David T. Keenan, Esq. and his wife Barbara (Finch ) of Dorchester, MA and their children Samuel, Christopher and Chanel, and two great-grandchildren Olivia and Molly Cosgrove-Lewandowski. Bill was raised in Saint Gregory’s Parish in the Lower Mill section of Dorchester,MA.   He graduated from Saint Gregory’s Grammar School. He attended Boston English High School.  After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the H Company, First Marines, First Marine Division Reinforced, on Guadalcanal where he received the Order of the Purple Heart for his injuries, a Presidential Unit Citation, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.  He graduated from Holy Cross College with help of the GI benefits.  He later received his Masters in Economics from Boston College. Bill was elected and re-elected to six terms (12 years) in the House of Representatives. Bill was loved by all he met.  His lifework was in watching out for those who were vulnerable, with his work in as a high school teacher,  legislature, social worker for the Veteran’s Affairs, a member of the Consumer’s Council, and  Assistant  Adjutant at Chelsea Soldiers Home. Bill was named Democrat of the year in Harwich. Bill retired to his beloved Cape Cod in Harwichport.  He loved to swim, take long walks with his wife and family, spending time with his friends.  He was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends.  He was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.   Bill loved his family and cherished his friends. He touched many lives.  His kind personality and loving smile will surely be missed, but not forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, Saturday February 16 at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours at Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE , Friday 4 – 8 PM. Graveside Services will take place on Monday at 12 Noon at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Harwich, MA. Joseph “Tines” Bernier

Joseph “Tines” Bernier, died at home in Saugus, Tuesday February 5, 2013, and is preceded in death by his parents Eberle Bernier and Marie Jeanne St. Cloud Bernier.  Surviving to cherish his love and memories, his children Herby Bernier, Winner Bernier, Tracy Bernier, Marlvyn Gelin, Ernest Garvey Gelin, and Tracey Emile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Angela Church, Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, Saturday February 16 at 10:00 AM.  Relatives and friends invited. Catherine A. “Kathleen” Killilea

Catherine A. “Kathleen”  Killilea  of Dorchester , Feb 11, succumbed to a 4 year battle with cancer. Kath
was the loving daughter of the late Catherine M. (Gavin) & and the late Matthew J. Killilea.
Kath was the youngest sister of Jack Killilea and his wife Glo of So. Yarmouth, the late
Matthew Francis Killilea and the late Sister Marie Marguerite, C.S.J. (Maureen Killilea).  Kath
is also survived by a nephew and several nieces and grand nieces and nephews.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory’s Church, Dorchester, Thursday, February 14, at 10:00 AM. Richard “Ricky” J. O’Keefe

Richard “Ricky” J.  O’Keefe, 57, of Boston, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a brief illness.  Born in Boston on January 11, 1956, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Wade) O’Keefe. Father of  Ryan O’Keefe and his long time companion, MaryKate McDonnell of Hull.   Husband of  Carol (Brangwynne) O’Keefe of Hull.  Ricky was the  brother of  Helen Buccigross and her husband James of Plymouth, Michael O’Keefe of Quincy, Maureen O’Brien and her husband James of FL, Marjorie McManiamin and her husband Bob of Cape Cod, Ronald O’Keefe and his wife Donna of Weymouth and the late Thomas O’Keefe .  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12  from 11:00 AM -Noon in Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. Mrs. Tourville was a longtime Milton resident and retired from Milton Academy. Wife of the late Col. Henry M. Tourville, (U.S. Army, Ret.). Sister of the late Anna M. Russo and Francis M. Doyle.
