Margaret A. Lawless

Margaret A. (Finnerty), a retired clerk, died at John Scott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Braintree, Monday March 26, 2012. She was 92 years old. Born in Boston, she was raised in Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School. She raised her children in Brookline and they moved to Milton in 1955. Mrs. Lawless worked for John Hancock Life Insurance Company for almost thirty years. An avid bowler with the Cunningham Park League, she also volunteered at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital with the parishioners of Saint Mary of the Hills Church. Former wife of the late Richard J. Lawless. Loving mother of Richard M. Lawless and his wife Nancy of Watermill, NY, Elizabeth M. Lawless of North Weymouth, Peter G. Lawless and his wife Patricia of South Weymouth and the late Christopher Lawless. Margaret is survived by her daughter-in-law Tracy Lawless, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Edna Kelleher, Mary Plunkett and Edward Finnerty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary of the Hills Church, St. Mary’s Road, Milton, Thursday March 29 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Therese A. Connors

Therese A. Connors of Milton passed away at home on March 22, 2012, after a brave and determined year-long struggle with kidney cancer. She had turned 60 on February 29.  A native of Everett, she was a graduate of Pope John XXIII High School.  An alumna of Regis College, she received an M.A. in education from Lesley University.  She taught elementary Special Education in the Boston Public Schools, and she had retired in 2010 after her many years of caring and dedicated teaching from the Roger Clapp Elementary School.  She is deeply missed by her husband of thirty-five years, Hon. Thomas A. Connors, Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court, and by her son, Brendan M. Connors and her daughter-in-law, Lt. Jenny Chen, U.S.N., M.D.  both of Okinawa, Japan, and by her son Andrew P. Connors of Milton.   She also leaves her two sisters and their husbands, Zoe and John Williams of Everett, and Flora and Earl Pearce of Boise, Idaho, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Connors of Quincy.  She was predeceased by her newborn grandson Terence M. Connors.

Artistically talented, Therese possessed a beautiful voice and had continued to sing with her church choir in Milton, even through her most difficult illness.  She also enjoyed playing piano and was a gifted watercolorist.  She is remembered as a most cherished wife, mother, and friend.

Her funeral will be conducted from the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., Milton, with visiting hours from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 27.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Hills Church, 29 St. Mary’s Rd., Milton at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 28.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beth Israel-Deaconess Med. Eleanor Desmond Fallon

Eleanor Desmond Fallon, of Cheshire, passed away March 21, 2012 at Berkshire Medical Center from complications from cancer. Eleanor was the devoted wife of Bernard V. Fallon, Ed.D., and mother of Bernard V. Fallon, Jr. of Washington, DC and Eleanor M. Fallon of New York City. She was born in Hingham on October 29, 1946, the daughter of J. Bernard Desmond and Eleanor McGrail Desmond. She was educated in St. Paul’s Parochial School of Hingham, St. Gregory’s Parochial School of Dorchester, and Hingham High School. Her BA degree was from Emmanuel College of Boston.For the past 23 years she has been a parishioner at Cheshire’s St. Mary of the Assumption. Her diverse careers included teaching high school English and journalism on the staff of Hingham High School and long-term substitute teaching at Drury High School and McCann Technical School in North Adams. Also, Eleanor was a realtor in Milton and Boston as well as in Williamsburg and Pittsfield. Recently, she was in-store auditor and customer service for fourteen years at Filene’s/Macy’s in Lanesborough and sales associate for JCPenney. She loved fine arts and travel, supporting and leading her family to museums, theaters, and concerts in the Berkshires, Boston, Chicago, New York, Quebec, London, and Paris.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory’s Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester on Monday, March 26 at 11:00 AM. Bernice M. Wright

Bernice M. Wright, of Dorchester, formerly of Milton, at Marian Manor, Tuesday March 20, 2012 surrounded by her family.  Loving mother of Alan Wright of Milton, Patricia Crosby & her husband Stanley of Dorchester, Glenn Wright of Dorchester and the late Russell Wright, Jr.  Cherished grandmother of Penny Crosby and Bonnie Crosby both of Quincy, Stanley Crosby, Merrisa Crosby, Cherena Crosby and Marquita Coston all of Dorchester.  Bernice was predeceased by her two sisters Edna and Audrey.  She is survived by 11 great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Monday, March 26 at 10:30 AM.  Relatives & friends invited. Tony D. Ryan

Tony D. Ryan, 45, of Boston, died in Norwood Hospital, Thursday March 15, 2012. Born on March 27, 1966, he was the son of John Ryan and Josephine Alain. He is survived by his brother Danny D. Ryan of Stoughton and two sisters Tammie Spellen of NY and Lorie Spellen of MD.  Funeral service Saturday, March 24 at 11:30 AM in Faith Christian Church, 301 Harvard St. Mattapan. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery.

Diane C. (Donahue) Cole

Diane C. (Donahue) Cole, age 47, of Orleans, formerly of Dorchester, died Friday, March 16, 2012.  Beloved mother of Stephen, Jennifer, James, Katherine, and David.  Dear daughter of Jennie and David.  Cherished sister of Deborah, Dave, Lorraine, Janice, John, and James.  Loving aunt of thirty-five nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester, Thursday, March 22 at 12:00pm.  A memorial reception will follow.

Robert M. Tong

Robert M. Tong, a retired marketing executive, died at Milton Hospital – Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Milton, Tuesday March 13, 2012. He was 87 years old.

 

Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Haselton) Tong. Mr. Tong was a retired marketing executive with Union Carbide Corp., New York City World Headquarters. He had been a member of the following: American Marketing Association, American Market Research Association, Technical Association of The Pulp and Paper Industry, Chemists’ Club of New York, The Society of Chemical Manufacturers of America and The Wompatuck Club of Hingham. He was a disabled veteran of World War II (15th Air Force) and an ex-prisoner of war in Romania. He held numerous combat decorations.

 

Mr. Tong leaves his daughters Kathleen Lindelof and Deborah Molloy, both of Stoughton and Roberta MacLeod of Marietta, GA. He leaves ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, a brother Kenneth Tong of Hull and a sister Marjorie E. Townsend of Hanover. Interment private.

Mary C. Osborne

Mary C. (Shea) Osborne, of Milton, Friday March 16, 2012. Born in Dorchester, she was a graduate of Girls Latin School. Mrs. Osborne raised her family in Milton and for over thirty years, she enjoyed boating with her husband. Wife of the late Harry J. Osborne. Loving mother of Mark A. Osborne of Sandwich, Paul Daniel Osborne of Dedham, Jane M. Osborne McKnight of Shelburne, VT, Christine Plattner of Riverside, CA and Carol Osborne-Rainier of Los Angeles, CA. Mary is survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sister of Helen G. Shea of Weymouth, Sr. Ann Shea DC of Holbrook, Rev. William E. Stanley G. Keel, of Mattapan, Wednesday March 14, 2012.  Beloved husband of 62 years of the late Dorothy (Brugioni) Keel, who passed away on November 10, 2010.  Loving father of Stefano Keel and Riccardo Keel both of Milton, Mario J. Eleanor R. Casey

Eleanor Rose (Mc Entee) Casey, of Port Washington, NY, formerly of Milton, age 79, peacefully, March 14, 2012. Eleanor is survived by her husband Gerald and 5 children; Gerald Jr., Steven, Joseph, John, & Eleanor Mary Casey. Eleanor was one of the most kind & generous people to ever set foot on God’s green earth. She grew up in Milton, daughter of the late Joseph & Eleanor McEntee and moved to Port Washington, NY in 1970. Eleanor was very active in social & community charities and Director of Volunteers.
