James F.Melvin, age 71, of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester, entered into eternal rest, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Beloved husband and lifetime friend for 52 years of Jeanne (Carter) of Dorchester, and devoted father of Christine Carmody and her husband Robert of Canton,  Judi Conners  and her husband Paul of West Bridgewater, and Suzanne Loughlin of Easton. Loving grandfather of Jake and Andrew Conners of West Bridgewater; Sean, Amanda, and Amelia Loughlin of Easton; and Robert and Kate Carmody of Canton.  Loving son of David Melvin and Mary and Jack Walsh.  Brother of the late David Melvin, Regina Donovan and John Melvin.  Survived by his sisters Gloria Whalen of Dorchester and Mary Hilliard of Easton and brothers Thomas Melvin of Stoughton and Paul Melvin of Rockland and many nieces and nephews.  Cherished and loyal friend of Paul McDevitt and John Christian.  Also, Friend of Bill W.   Jim was a substance abuse counselor and a former member of Teamster’s Local 25. He dedicated much of his life to helping others overcome addiction and find purpose and serenity.  Jim helped establish the Wyman Re-entry Program at the Long Island Shelter in Boston to support those making the transition to a new and better life and was also passionate about organizing fundraisers for his favorite charities.  He was an avid sports and entertainment enthusiast who enjoyed having fun and laughing with family and friends at games, concerts, and other events – professional, amateur or those of his grandchildren.  Funeral from the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home 5 Canton Ave, MILTON VILLAGE on Friday March 7, at 9:00 AM.  A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of St. Peter’s, 311 Bowdoin Street, Meeting House Hill, Dorchester, at 10:00 AM.  Visiting hours at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.  For those who wish, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Edwina Martin Recovery House for Women, 678 North Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301, one of the charities he loved most.

Sallie R. (Caliri) Ames

Mother of Jon and his wife Kathy Bonsall of Wellesley and Mary Kay Ames Gregory and her late husband Don Gregory of Boston. Nana of Matt and his wife, Megan Bonsall; Dan Bonsall and his wife, Michelle Smith; and Kate Bonsall. Special Great Nana of Emily Elizabeth Bonsall. Sister of the late Paul Caliri. Sallie is also survived by several nieces and nephews and dear friends. Shirley Ann Lucas

Shirley Ann Lucas daughter of Wilbert and Helen Herbin was born on March 4, 1939 in Greensboro, NC.

Shirley worked at VFW Parkway Nursing Home for over 20 years as a Nursing Assistant.

On February 23, 2014 at Brigham’s and Women’s Hospital Shirley fell asleep in death and was preceded by her parents and sisters Edna, Carolyn, Phyllis, and brother Wilbert Herbin Jr., son Lymas Herbin, and great-granddaughter Tahnya

She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters: Bonita (George) White, Annette (Cedric) King, Janice Lucas, Karen (Eric) Foote, Kimberly Lucas and three sons : Jeffrey (Renita) Herbin, Willie Jr. Lucas, Anthony Lucas,  sixteen grandchildren: Nettiea, Isisah, Lamont, Kiana, Shanice, Brittany, Danielle, Keisha, Shayla, Dashawn, Kielyn, Keon, Breia, Eric Jr., Jakye, Jeffrey Scott Jr. and four great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Trent Jr., Lily, Zayden and Khamari  along with nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester Lower Mills.  Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery.

Sister Bridget Lennon, mfic, of Newton, a beloved member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters for 63 years, died on February 24, 2014 at Saint Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. She was the loving daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Ellen (Nicholson) Lennon, sister of Eileen O’Dwyer, Cathy Maher, Nora McManus, Maureen Carty, Chris Reid; Paddy Joe, Michael, Jimmy, Willie and the late Tommy Lennon. Sister Bridget is also survived by several nieces and nephews, her extended family and her Missionary Franciscan Sisters. A wake will be held in the Chapel at Mount Alvernia Convent, 790 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02458 on Thursday, 4-7PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 28 at 10:00AM at the chapel. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. William J. “Liam” Sexton

William J. “Liam” Sexton, 92,  of Milton, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014.  Born in Ireland on July 5, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Bridget (Durcan) Sexton.  He graduated from Trinity College in Dublin and practiced pharmacy in Ireland.  Liam came to the United States in 1949 and joined Thomas Cook & Son Travel in Boston. In 1965  he became owner of Milton Travel .  He was a long time member and past senior vice president of SKAL International.

The  beloved husband of the late Frances M. (Graceffa) Sexton, Liam is survived by a sister, Brigid Hyland of Ireland and many nieces and nephews in Ireland and the United States.

Herve Roland Saucier

Saucier, Herve Roland for website onlyHerve  Roland Saucier “Pepe” died in Florida Feb. 16, after a long illness.  He was  86.  He was educated in Lowell.  He retired from  the John J. Duane Co. of Quincy. He was an Army Air Force Veteran.  He spent his winters in Frostproof, Florida and the rest of the time  in Rockland , MA. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla (Rauscher) Saucier.  Beloved father of Linda Reid and her husband Daniel, of Pembroke, Diana  Schneider and her husband John of Arkansas, Laurie Hemmings and her husband Harvey of Maine, Carol Curry and her husband Steven of Wareham, David and his wife Margaret of Rockland. Brother of Laurette Moore, Raymond, Arthur, Roger, Henry, and Paul Saucier all of Lowell, and the late Jeanne Benevento, Rita Villandry, Claire Dubois, George, Gerard, Alfred and Robert Saucier.  Son of the late Onesime and Flora Saucier.  Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE, Tues. 4 – 7 pm. Martha J. Adams

Martha J. “Marty” Adams, 69, of Milton passed away on January 16, 2014.  Martha was a resident of Milton for over 45 years and an inspiration to countless kindergarteners who were in her classroom.  She loved to travel especially to Aruba. She was an active volunteer at Milton Hospital, Board Member for the Milton Council on Aging and member of First Congregational Church, Milton.  Marty is survived by her brother Charles Adams and his wife Kathryn of New Jersey and her nieces Missy, Jennifer and Karen.   A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 21st at 11:00 A.M. at Fuller Village, 1372 Brush Hill Road, Milton.  Relatives, friends and former students welcomed.  For more information and an online guestbook please visit www.dolanfuneral.com.

Maria Martinez

Maria Martinez, 69, of Dorchester passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Carney Hospital in Dorchester.  She was born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico on August 30, 1944. Maria is survived by her two children, Mayra Martinez-Diaz of Charlestown and Hector Martinez of Boston.  Two granddaughters, Erica Martinez of Hyde Park and Muneca Diaz of Charlestown, a great-grandson, Vondell Martinez, Common Law to Jose Rodriquez.  She leaves behind to mourn three sisters, Candida Mateo and Lucy Flores of Camden, NJ and Solangle Mateo of Springfield, MA and her aunt Ederlee Rodriguez of Villalba, Puerto Rico.  A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, February 17th at 10:30 A.M. in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester LOWER MILLS.  Relatives and friends invited for a brief visitation beginning at 10 A.M.  Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery. 

Eula Lee

 Tribute of Life

 Eula Lee, daughter of Granville and Dorothy McCall, was born on February 3, 1944 in Grady, Alabama and was the seventh of seventeen children. She survived her sisters Ann Rhines, Rose McCall, Idell McCall, Loretta Griffin – Turner, Buena McCall and Jacqueline McCall. She left behind two brothers, Willie McCall and Otis McCall, one sister-in law, Alberta McCall and one brother-in-law, Tyrone Turner.  She leaves a dear and best friend Bernice Lee of forty-one years. She also had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She received her education in the public schools of Grady, Alabama and finished at Dorchester High School in Dorchester, Ma. Eula accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Alabama. She was employed by the MBTA as a bus driver and then a Green Line train operator. She also worked various jobs until she retired and dedicated her life to become a foster parent for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Eula was united in Holy Matrimony to Edward Lee. Eula survived five children Brenda McCall, Danny McCall, Mark McCall, Shavon Reynolds, and Gina Lee. She also had three grandchildren, Charita Neal, Indira McCall, and Naima McCall.

Eula enjoyed cooking, fishing, shopping, loved her family, caring for people, her favorite color purple, the blues and anything Tina Turner. She also had an enormous sweet tooth, always sneaking candy when she knew she wasn’t supposed to have it. Her favorite song was “Too Close to the Mirror” by Eddie Bradford. Eula loved life and everyone in it. The life and memory of our loved one shall long be remembered by all of her family, and life long friends. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for the ones she cared for.

Frieda S. Euerle,  of Milton, died Thursday, February 6, 2014.  Beloved wife of the late William J. Euerle.  Loving mother of William C. Euerle and his wife Anne of Foxboro, Donna E. Chapman and Rita C.E. Cavonius both of Quincy.  Grandmother of William Euerle, Daniel Euerle and his wife Therese McNulty, Anita Euerle and Gregory Weber, Lillie Cavonius and Fredrik Nilsson.  Great grandmother of Luke and Seamus Euerle, Cecilia and Henry Weber.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Funeral Service to be held in the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Ave., MILTON VILLAGE on Monday,
