ROYAL BLAINE DOWNS was born on June 10, 1954 in Boston, Massachusetts.  He was the fourth child born of the late Robert Reed Downs, Sr. and Dorothy Lee Chase Downs.  He departed this life, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, February 3, 2014 at BostonUniversityMedicalCenter.

Royal attended St. Joseph’s and St. John’sSchools in Roxbury and graduated from DorchesterHigh School.  In 1981 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

Royal played intramural sports at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.  In 1977, Royal and the Ujima basketball team won the Intramural Championship.  While at UMass, he was also an active member of the Ujima Club.  Royal was an exceptional roller skater, loved riding his bicycle, and enjoyed listening to the golden oldies with DJ Porter. His favorite groups were Blue Magic, the Delfonics, the Dramatics, and the Temprees, just to name a few.

After graduating from college, Royal was employed as a Pipe Fitter at the General Dynamics Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts.  He later became a Prison Guard at the Department of Corrections in Concord, Massachusetts and worked at Jewish Memorial Hospital in Boston.  Royal was also a handyman and specialized in plumbing.

His memories will be shared by long-time friend and mother of his children, Roslyn Gunn of Roxbury, MA; daughters:  Samia Gunn of Roxbury, MA and Tauri Ortiz (Jose) of Dorchester, MA;  sisters:  Robin R. (Downs) Robinson of Roxbury, MA and Roxanne (Downs) Greaves of Quincy, MA; brothers:  Ronald L. Downs (Patricia) of Milton, MA; Robert (“RD”) Downs, Jr. (Margaret) of Braintree, MA; Reginald R. Downs of Dorchester, MA; Ryan K. Downs (Teresa) of New Bedford, MA; stepmother Connie Downs of Dorchester, MA; half-brother Harold Downs of VA; and stepsister Eva (“Ginger”) Murray of Dorchester, MA.  He leaves to cherish his warm memory, seven grandchildren:  Tahj Malik Stone, Tiauni Castro, Damarco Ortiz, Giahda Ortiz, Jaevecio Ortiz, Bryce Robinson, Jaiauris Ortiz and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service in Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St,. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 11:00 AM with visitation prior 9:30-11.   Interment private.

Thuan Thi Ho

Thuan Thi Ho, of Milton, died on Friday, February 7, 2014.  Mrs. Ho was the beloved wife of the late Ngan V. Tran.  Loving mother of Thuan Tran, of Quincy, Thao Tran of Milton, Hoa Tran of Milton, MyTran of Quincy, Nga Dang, of Milton, Hue Tran Yasmine of Quincy, Binh Tran ofCanton, Lan Tran, Thu Tran and Hao Tran all of Vietnam and their spouses. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Bernadette Church, 1026 North Main St. Randolph on Monday, February 10 at 10:30 AM.  Relatives and friends  invited.  Interment Private

Neil Crowley

Neil Crowley died January 29, 2014 at the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain after complications from surgery.  He was born June 20, 1942.  He was the youngest of 9 children.  Four of them are still with us, John, Tim, Sheila and Fran.  He was predeceased by Gerry, Bill, Tom and Betty.  His parents were Michael and Julia who were Irish immigrants.  He grew up in Boston where he married and had 2 children, Keith and Brian.

Neil served in the Marines and was proud of his service. He later worked in elevator construction, trucking and as a contracts manager.  He was retired at the time of his death.  He was an avid golfer who was a member at many local courses.

At the time of his death Neil was married to Nancy A. Hurley of Milton.  He was also survived by his in-laws Grace Crowley Hurley, Virginia, Joseph and Joyce Hurley, Lois Saunders and Miriam Kent as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Agatha’s Church, Milton,Weds., Feb.  5, at 10:30 am. Visiting Hours, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE, Tues. 4-8 pm. Interment Private.

John J. Brennan, Jr.

John J. Brennan, Jr., age 83, Jan 19,  of Randolph,MA formerly of South Boston.  He was the loving husband for 49 years of Alice (McCarthy) Brennan.  Beloved father of Mary (Brennan) Watts of Quincy, William J. Brennan of Dorchester, and John J. Brennan , III of Boston.  He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, William Monnin, Jr., John J. Brennan, IV, Haleigh Curtis, Samantha Brennan, Christopher Brennan, Ronald J. Watts, III, and David Brennan. He will be deeply missed by all.  A Mass of Christian  burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory’s Church Dorchester, Mon, Feb. 4 at 11 0’clock. Visiting Hours from 9 – 11am in the Church Mon. morning. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, W. Roxbury, MA.

Louise M. Donoghue

Louise M. (Delaney) Donoghue, formerly of Dorchester Lower Mills, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital, Brockton, Friday, January 31, 2014. The daughter of the late James T. and Genevieve (Lievi) Delaney was born, raised and lived in Dorchester. Louise or Weezie as she liked to be called was an active member of the Dorchester Lower Mills community, co-founding the Lower Mills Merchants Association and a member of the committee for the Walter Baker restoration project. A retired hairdresser and former proprietor of White’s Cab Co., she viewed being a wife, mother and grandmother as the most important of all jobs she had. Sharing life with those she loved with love, laughter and compassion, she will be missed dearly by all. Weezie enjoyed playing the piano, gardening and a “good jitterbug”. The beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Donoghue, she is survived by Arthur & Patrice Donoghue of Wells, ME, Elaine & Thomas DeCarlo of Hopedale, MA, Geraldine & Frank Carini of Abington, MA, Cherylanne J. Donoghue of Rockland, MA and Joanne Rowan of Franklin, MA. Grandmother of Thomas DeCarlo, Michelle DeCarlo, Casey Carini, Michael Butts, Nicholas Butts, Colleen Butts , Thomas Butts and Anthony Donoghue. Great grandmother of Dominic DeCarlo and James DeCarlo. She was the loving sister of Barbara J. Benson of Braintree, MA, Stephen C. Delaney of East Falmouth, MA, Peter J. Abraham Fougy

Fougy_Abraham_websiteAbraham Fougy, of Haiti and Boston, Massachusetts, died on Wednesday January 29th, 2014 at 8:30am at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He was 83 years old. He was born on October 26, 1930 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Cazelise LaRoche and Jonas Fougy. Leaving his place of birth, he immigrated to the United States in the early 1960’s. In addition to his studies in Haiti he completed his education at Northeastern University in Boston and held Federal Communications Commission (FCC) federal and state licenses in addition to a Real Estate license. Mr. Fougy had a successful career as a Jet and Helicopter Engine Inspector at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts and earlier in his career in Cambridge as a technology laboratory assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was particularly known for his passion for radio broadcasting. In the late 1950’s he created Radio Union which went off the air in the mid ’70’s.

A unique soul, Mr. Fougy was very intellectual yet had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed listening to classical music, expanding his personal library of books on Buddhism, Ayurvedic Medicine, African and World History, and enjoyed speaking and reading in four languages: Haitian Kreyol, French, Spanish, and German. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Fougy is survived by his former first wife: Gabrielle Emilien Fougy and their three children: Jean-Raynald Fougy, Maryse Fougy Mondelus, Yanick Fougy; his former second wife Ulda Francois Fougy and their three children: Albert Fougy, Wendy Fougy and Gwendolyn Fougy Henry; daughters-in-law Lilyan Stepha Fougy, Yuki Iwamoto Fougy, and son-in-law Robert D. Henry; nine grandchildren: Reginald Fougy, Gardite Fougy, Stephanie Fougy, Robers Pierre Armand, Sarghine Mondelus, Riviere Junya Fougy, Garcelle M. Joseph, Zhanee Cannelle Henry, and Miel Francois Henry; and three great-grandchildren, four sisters and a brother.

Salvatore P. and Gina E. Saturno

Saturno, Salvatore and GinaTogether in Life now Together in Heaven. Salvatore P. Saturno and Gina E. Saturno, of Milton, formerly of South Boston. Sal died January 2, 2014 and Gina died January 27, 2014. Sal and Gina were married for 60 wonderful years. Loving parents of Denise Calvino of Burlington and her husband Robert, Diane Saturno of Milton and John Saturno of Milton. Grandparents of Jeffrey, TJ and Anthony. The couple had a family business for 25 years known as Hayden’s Bakery in South Boston and loved spending time with family, especially their grandchildren and friends, traveling and good food. They will be lovingly remembered and had a long and prosperous life together. The services will be private. Marjorie A. Seery

Marjorie A. (Jewett) Seery, January 28, 2014. Wife of the late Charles L. Seery. Loving mother of Joan Donahoe and Carol McGorray. Sister of Emily Maiden of Milton and the late Katherine Collins, Jean Rousseau, Raymond Jewett and James Jewett. Marjorie is survived by eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is close to all of her nieces and nephews, especially Jane Bennett. William Donahoe

William Michael  Donahoe, 83 , of Quincy, died Monday, January 27, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Milton.  Born in  Boston and raised in the Clam Point Section of Fields Corner, Dorchester,  he graduated from Dorchester High School in 1947.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1952. He had resided in Quincy for forty-eight years.  William was a retired member of the Local 3 Bricklayers Union and Co-owner of Donahoe Bros. Construction Company with his brother Paul.  He was also a charter member of the Braintree Lodge of Elks.   As a life-member of the Old Colony Yacht Club he was an avid boater.  He served as Commodore of the Old Colony Yacht and was a member of the Commodores Club of America for many years. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his wife of 57 years.  William is the beloved husband of Marjorie A. (Belliveau) Donahoe.  He is the devoted father of Leanne Donahoe of Braintree, William M. Donahoe, Jr, married to Kelly A. Donahoe of Braintree,  and Mark H. Donahoe married to Cheryl A Donahoe of Braintree. He is the loving grandfather of William, Eric, Meghan, Madison, and Colleen.  William is the brother of  Paul Donahoe of Dorchester and Leo Donahoe of Braintree and the late Harold Donahoe of Braintree.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary Church, 95 Crescent St. Quincy on Saturday, Feb 1 at 9:00 AM.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON, Friday  4-8 PM.  Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
