Maria Anna E. (Marion) Mulattieri

(Marion) Mulattieri, 92, of Lorida, FL, formerly of Mattapan,  passed away, Monday, May 26, 2014.  She was born on October 4, 1921 in Boston.  For 30 years, she served as laundry supervisor for Boston State Hospital.  A former member of St. Angela Church, Mattapan,   where she and her husband Dominic married on August 7, 1949. She moved to Lorida, FL in 1986 and was a member of St. Catherine Church, Sebring, FL.  Marion was an avid orchid grower and a world traveler.  Besides her husband Dominic, she is survived by her son John Mulattieri and his wife Maryann of Dorchester, brother, William Stella of Mattapan, grandchildren, Allison Mulattieri and Captain Christopher J. Mulattieri, USMC and many nieces and nephews. Stephen G. Pickett,   Age 65. of Quincy, formerly of Hyde Park.  May 30, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Ann M. Pickettt  ( Grabert).  Loving father of Michelle M. Porter (Pickett) and her husband Brad of Hingham,  Michael E. Crowley of Hopkinton, and Gene Crowley and his wife Paula of  Middleboro. Very Special friend of Zenaida L.  Feliciano and her children Ismael Jr and Carlota Feliciano. Brother of Dorothy  McIlvene of Bridgewater and the late Marjorie Hewitt, Joseph, Robert, and  Margaret Pickett. Cherished Papa of Sean, Matthew, Erica, Samantha, Timothy,  Allison, Nathan, and Daniel. Stephen was the owner of Tar-Vel Roofing Company  of Hyde Park. He served proudly and honorably in the USMC during the Vietnam era. John M. Reney

John M. Reney  of Braintree, on May 28, 2014,  formerly of Dorchester.  Son of the late Michael J. and Catherine M. (Kelly)  Reney.

Brother of  Sr. Barbara M. Reney, C.S.J., of Brighton.  Also survived by several nieces,  nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Predeceased by his siblings, Catherine M. O’Connell, Margaret F. Reney and Robert P. Reney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, Monday, June 2, at 10:00 AM.  Relatives and friends invited to attend.  Visitation  at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS,  8:30AM -9:30 AM Monday prior to funeral.  Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Elna O. Skoglund

Elna O. (Manson) Skoglund, 97, of Wollaston, died May 28, 2014.   Born in So. Boston on February 28, 1917 , she was the daughter of the late John and Kersten (Nelson) Manson.

Mrs. Skoglund a long time member of the Viking Club and  Stenkil Lodge # 92, IOV of Braintree,   had been employed by John Hancock Insurance Co. for many years retiring in 1984.

Mrs. Skoglund is survived by her daughter Karen E. Skoglund of Wollaston, two nieces, Eileen Manson and Jean MacKenzie,  a nephew Ronald Manson, several grand nieces and grand nephews , great grand nieces and great grand nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings, William Manson, Mabel Carter, Olga Manson, Helen Manson and Paul Manson.

Funeral service will be held at Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Ave., MILTON VILLAGE, Monday, June 2 at 1:30 PM.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visitation 12 Noon -1:30 PM  prior to service.  Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Helen Durant

Durant, Helen for website onlyHelen Durant was born and raised in Dorchester.  She was the daughter of the late Louis T. and  Helen E (O’Connor) Maloney.  She attended St. Peter’s School, Archbishop Cushing Central High School, class of 1958 and Burdett School of Business.  Helen retired in 2002 from the Boston Water and Sewer Commission as Executive Assistant to the Director. During which time, she received the Commisioner’s Award in 2000 and was recognized for her charity fundraising efforts. She previously worked at the Probation Department of the Boston Municipal Court for many years.

She enjoyed spending time crafting with her friends and lovingly designed needlepoint keepsakes for her sons and sister.

Helen was a member of the ladies golf league at Ponkapoag and George Wright golf courses.  She Enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod in Chatham and Dennisport every year with her family and friends.

She enjoyed listening to the live Irish music of the Fenian Sons in which her son is the lead singer.  Above everything her most precious time was spent with her six beautiful granddaughters.

Helen will be greatly missed by her loving family, her large circle of friends and her many nieces and nephews.

Helen was the beloved wife of Ernest A. Durant, Jr. for 43 years.   Devoted mother of Michael F.  Durant ( B.P.D.) and his wife Annmarie  of W. Roxbury and Sean C. Durant (M.S.P.) of Braintree and his wife DawnMarie.  Grandmother of Mary, Sarah, Lauren , Shannon, Colleen and Kylie. Sister of Joseph L. Maloney of Weymouth, Francis X. Maloney of Quincy, William F. Maloney of Dennisport,  Richard J. Maloney of Easton, Claire A. Koch of Wakefield, and the late George P. Maloney and Mary C. Maloney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anne’s Church, READVILLE, Fri , May 30, at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Thurs., 4-8 pm.  Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

Dennis J. Leary

Dennis Leary died on May 23, 2014 at Mountain View Gardens Long Term Care Center with his loving wife by his side.  He leaves his wife of 17 years Edith Komlosi-Leary, Sons Dennis and James Michael Leary of  Dover, NH, His sister Alice and her husband Ronald Baril of Ashburnham, MA, Godson/Stepson Adam Presser and his wife Stacy of Dunedin, FL, Grandchildren Megan and Dennis John and their mother Teresa Leary of York, ME, Sister-In-Law Katherin Leary of Weymouth, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a lifetime friend, James J. McCarthy of Scituate, MA.  Dennis was born in Dorchester.  Son of Dennis J. Leary and Agnes (Scanlon) Leary. He attended local schools before enlisting in the US Army at age 19. He was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged as a disabled Korean War Veteran in 1956.  After his service he attended and graduated from Northeastern University with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering and attended MIT for research work.  He did special studies in Longjumeau in France.  He obtained is MS Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois. He was a Geotechnical Engineer P.E.FASCE with professional licenses in several states.  He worked in this capacity on projects around the world.  Including Egypt, Burma and South America employed by Woodward-Moorhouse & Associates as a Consulting Engineer.  Prior to his retirement he was a partner in Langan Engineering and Environmental Services for 26 years.  He was an active member of the OLM RC Church in Kinnelon, NJ.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 A.M. in Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester, Lower Mills.  Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral mass at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester LOWER MILLS, from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.

Janice K. Walwood

Janice Kickham Walwood passed away peacefully at her home in Milton on May 21, 2014.  Mrs. Walwood was born in Boston and raised in Jamaica Plain and Scituate. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard H. Walwood, her parents Margaret and Charles Kickham, sister Martha Sullivan and brother Charles Kickham. She is survived by siblings Penelope (Reilly), Margaret ( Kickham Grady), Michael, and James, her five children Susan, Richard, Peter, Janice and Julie and grandchildren Richard, Abraham, and Luke. Mrs. Walwood was a graduate of the Holy Cross Academy of Newton and Lesley College. She was an elementary school teacher in Waltham and Boston Public Schools, taught special education in Milton Public Schools and most recently taught at St Mary’s in West Quincy. She was an avid swimmer, golfer and tennis player and enjoyed many sunny beach days with her large and loving family and circle of friends at the family beach house in Scituate. Janice was known for her kindness and caring and for her uproarious sense of humor and lighthearted approach to life. She was a former member of the Scituate Yacht Club, Hatherly Country Club, and The Milton Hoosic Club. She was a Eucharistic minister at Saint Elizabeth’s Parish in Milton, and volunteer at Milton Hospital. A celebration of her life will take place at Saint Elizabeth’s Church, corner of Reedsdale Road and Randolph Avenue in Milton on Wednesday May 28th at 10 A.M. Friends and relatives invited.  Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON, from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday May 27th. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in Janice’s name may me sent to The Magical Moon Foundation, National Office, PO Box 83, Marshfield Hills, MA 02051or a donation may be made via phone by calling 800- 840-0205

Jennifer D. Blake

Jennifer D. Blake, of Dorchester, died Sunday, May 18 at Boston Medical Center.  She is the loving wife of Joseph Laguerre.  Born in Trinidad, West Indies, she is the daughter of the late Christopher and Carrie Blake.

Jennifer is the mother of Antoinette Blake and the late Nicole Seron Blake and the grandmother of Shaquille and Shenelle Maloney.  She is the sister of Wendie Ramdham, Donna Niles, Heston Blake and the late Emlyn Boxhill.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 23 at 5:00 PM in Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. Dorchester Lower Mills.  Visitation will be one hour prior 4:00-5:00. Relatives and friends invited to attend.  Burial will be in Trinidad.
