Ellen M. (Hurlebaus) Wilshere  Rondinelli, of Milton, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.  Beloved wife of Joseph M. Rondinelli.  Daughter of the late George and Helen (Brunick) Hurlebaus.   Loving mother of Danielle  Wilshire Hannigan of So. Boston, Sean Wilshere and his wife Patricia of So. Boston, Jeff Hines of Milton and Fallon Rondinelli of Wareham.  Sister of John Hurlebaus and his wife Lynda of Hanson, Paul Hurlebaus and his wife Diane of Dorchester, and the late Patricia Hunt, George “Buddy” Hurlebaus and Edward Hurlebaus.  Grandmother of Grace Wilshere, Olivia Hannigan, Michael Wilshere and Ella Marie Wilshere.  Also survived by her aunt Ann Hurlebaus of Dorchester and many nieces and nephews and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church,  Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Monday, May 19 at 10:30 AM.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON, Sunday 3-7 PM.  Interment Private.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ellen’s name may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 350 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.

 

 

Rudolf Williams

Rudolf Williams was born in Augusta, GA on July 14, 1932 to the late Viola Williams and Roseville Hill (aka Sonny Boy). He came to Boston as a young boy where he attended the Boston Public School System.

He then joined the US Army in 1952. He belonged to the Red Barons Trucking Unit whose assignment was to deliver food and ammunition to the front lines during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in 1954 being awarded the Occupational Medal germany and the National Defense Service Medal.  Rudy was later employed at the United States Postal Service, starting as a mail handler. He retired as a Supervisor after 31 years of service.

Rudy was involved with the following organizations: five years on the Dorchester APAC Board of Directors, serving as vice-president; member of the William E. Carter American Legion Post #16 for 36 years; longtime member of the Elks Commonwealth Lodge #19; Ramsey/Toy VFW Post #8772; member of the Woodbine Association, where he served as bartender, assistant manager and manager, as well as being elected to various committees.

Rudy was well known in the Boston area for winning many Checker Competitions. He loved fishing, telling stories and socializing with family and friends.

Rudy leaves to mourn: his loving and supportive wife Sandra; his son Dana and Petra Clark; son Jesse and Angela Cheek; daughters Delores & Michelle Williams; grandchildren Leona and Daniel Clark, Joseph J. Lodge Jr and Terrell Denton-Cheek; life-long friend Charlie Parks; supportive friend throughout – Walter Farrell; and cousin Marcus Slater, who would do anything for Rudy!!!Rudy leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, friends and lastly cousin Yvett Riley who was an encouraging inspiration to both Sandra and Rudy.

Funeral service Monday, May 19 at 11:00 AM in Greater Generations Tabernacle Church, 214 Ames Street, Brockton.  Visitation 10:00 -11:00 AM prior to service.  Relatives and friends invited to attend.  Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, Boston, MA.

The family gives a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to those close family and friends who have been there throughout Rudy’s illness, giving support and strength when it was needed. May God continue to bless you.

Elizabeth A. (Hunt) Locke

Elizabeth A. (Hunt) Locke, died at her home in Quincy, Sunday May 11, 2014. She was 88 years old.

Born and raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of Dorchester High School and Boston Business School. Mrs. Locke was a retired secretary for the President of The Sheraton Corp. She had been a resident of Milton for over 30 years, before moving to Quincy four years ago.

Beloved wife of the late Thomas Locke. Loving mother of Alison Ferzoco of Braintree and Thomas Locke of California. Sister of the late Margaret Walsh, Alice Hunt, Mary Risvas, Thomas Hunt, John Hunt and Bernard Hunt. Sister-in-law of Leo Risvas of Quincy. Dear aunt of John Walsh of Staunton, VA, Ellen Power of Milton, Agnes Donegan of Quincy, Margaret Mannai of Hingham, Susan Geraghty of Weymouth, Betty Jean Bailey of Hudson, NH, Thomas Hunt of Dorchester, Bernadine Connors of Canton and Connie Walsh of Dorchester.

Jamir Anthony James died at his home in Boston, under the care of hospice, Wednesday May 7, 2014. He was 21 months old.  Beloved son Shanika Riddock and Travis James. Funeral service at Morningstar  Baptist Church, 1257 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, Friday May 16 at 11:00 AM. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM in the church. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery, Mattapan.

Andrea Rose Ogaldez

Andrea Rose Ogaldez, 34, of Boston, suddenly on May 7, 2014.  Born in Boston, on February 6, 1980, she was the daughter of Oscar Ogaldez and Shelina Maddrey.  Andrea had been employed as a administrative assistant at United South End Settlements, Boston.

Andrea  is the mother of  her two cherished children;  Amaia  and Amani.   Besides her children and parents she is survived by her siblings, Tanya Williams, Renee Coren, Simone Coren, Alquan O’Brien, Charlatta Maddrey, Chavon Maddrey-Simpson and Clayton Maddrey.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 15  at 11:00 AM  in United House of Prayer,  206 Seaver St. Dorchester.  Visitation 10:00-11:00 prior to funeral service.  Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery, Roslindale.

Cecil Cox Jr.

cox_cecilwebRetired Boston Police Officer, Sergeant Cecil Carlyle Cox, Jr. a lover of Jazz and Baseball, passed peacefully in his sleep at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, on Friday May 9 at 12:25pm, after a lengthy battle with emphysema. He was 81.

Mr. Cox was a native Bostonian, born and raised in Roxbury, MA and the oldest of fourteen children. Mr. Cox was a graduate of English High School, a member of the U.S. Army and proud member of the Boston Police Department from 1961-1996. He raised his family in Dorchester, MA.

Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, the former Ramona Justine Matthews of Gilberton, PA, (3) daughters, Cynthia, Pamela and Rona, and (2) sons – Cecil III and John; (10) Grandchildren – Rona, Samantha, Luther III, Jonathan, Ramona, Maisha, Alexandra, Mia, Cianna and Cecil Joseph; (6) Great grandchildren – Brianna, Mark, Jabari, Kamari, Avery and Anylah; Beloved siblings – Dolores, Steven, Richard, Doralean, Robert, Thomas, Wayne, Deborah and Donna; and he was predeceased by siblings Barbara, Janice, Kenny and Sylvia.

Wayne J. Parham II

Wayne J. Parham, II of Boston passed away on May 9, 2014.  He was the devoted  husband of Phyllis Parham.  Son of Wayne J. Parham, Sr.  Loving father of Tamecka Hardmon and her husband Richard of Rehoboth, Wayne J. Parham, III of Boston and Nathan Parham of Boston.  Wayne also leaves his siblings Joanne Jenkins, Pauline Parham and Robert Wilkins.  He was the doting grandfather of Richard Curtis, Zachory, and Jairus Hardmon and Wayne, IV and Anastasia Parham.  Wayne is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.  A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14th at  Unity Tabernacle of Holiness, 2 Greendale Road in Mattapan from 10AM-12PM.  Interment Saint Michael Cemetery. 

Joan Tierney

Joan Tierney (Doyle), 71, of Milton, May 10, 2014.  Devoted mother of Stephen and his wife Amy of Foxboro, Peter and his fiancé Christina Taylor of Santa Cruz, CA and Katie McCullough and her husband Mark of Medway.  Loving grandmother of Dylan and Brooke Tierney and Ronnie Martin all of Foxboro.  Beloved sister of Sharon Brisbane and her husband Arthur of Delaware.  A memorial service will be held in the Dolan-Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, on Wednesday from 5-7PM.  All relatives and friends are invited to come and celebrate Joan’s life.  In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution in Joan’s name may be made to The Alzheimers Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.

Mary T. Callinan, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, May 10, 2014. Beloved daughter of the late Martin and Bridget T. (Melvin) Callinan. Sister of Barbara “Pat” Collins of Quincy, Martin J. Callinan of Hyde Park, Christine Callinan of Mashpee and the late Kathleen Callinan and her late twin sister Joan O’Connell. Mary is survived by a niece, four nephews and grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great grandnephews. Ruth G. Goggin

Ruth G. (Crowley) Goggin , 87, of Milton, died peacefully on May 9, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. Ruth was the daughter of the late James A. and Agnes G. (Dunn) Crowley. Ruth was the former wife of the late J. Arthur Goggin. She was the beloved mother of James A. Goggin and his wife Mary of Spencer, MA; Christopher R. Goggin and his wife Maureen of Brockton, MA; Patricia Beaulieu, York, ME;  Philip T. Goggin and his wife Susan of Rockland, MA and Ruth M. Goggin, South Easton, MA.  She was the adoring grandmother to Stephanie and Melissa Goggin, Michael Goggin, Andrea and Alex Beaulieu and Stephen, Patrick and Jonathan Goggin.  Ruth was the doting great grandmother of Natalie and Timothy. Loving sister of the Robert V. Crowley, his wife Jane, Mashpee, MA.  and the late Claire G. O’Brien and the late  James. A. Crowley, Jr. (USA ret.) She was the beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. A devoted friend to many, her grace, love and humor will be missed by all.

Ruth was an exceptional registered nurse and took great pride in her compassionate care and attention to her patients and their families. She began her career as a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps and received her RN training through the auspices of the Veterans Administration. She worked at the Boston and West Roxbury locations.  Later in her career, she worked as a “special”, a private duty nurse both in hospital and home settings for a variety of patients, from newborns to seniors. In addition she was a school nurse and a nursing supervisor at Parkwell Nursing Home, Hyde Park, MA.

Ruth possessed an exquisite voice and sang whenever she could – be it a formal religious ceremony or a family gathering. Other than her children, music was the defining passion of her life.  She reveled in not only singing but listening to beautiful music from Tanglewood to her many years as a member of the Milton Choral Society and the Quincy Choral Society.  Music lifted her, sustained her and brought so very much joy to her life. It was her delight to share this special gift with the world.  Ruth was an extraordinary woman: beautiful, intelligent, resilient with a personal strength, grace and style all her own.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory’s Church, DORCHESTER, Weds., May 14,  at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Weds. 9:30 – 11 am.
