Denis P. Murphy

Denis P. Murphy, 67, of Westwood passed away on March 17, 2015.  Beloved husband of Patricia (Driscoll) Murphy.  Devoted father of John Murphy and his wife Laura of Woburn, Patrick Murphy and Bridget Murphy both of Westwood.  Denis is also survived by his granddaughter Juliann Elizabeth and his siblings Sheila Murphy of West Roxbury, Margaret Manning of CT, Thomas Murphy of New York, Angela Faherty and Martha Faherty both of Galway, Ireland and Joan Healy of Mayo, Ireland.  Denis also leaves several nieces and nephews in the U.S. and in Ireland.  He was predeceased by his siblings Patrick (Donie), John and Kathleen.   Denis was born in Ballinagare, County Roscommon, Ireland.  A Vietnam veteran and a Member of Teamsters, Local 25.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM in Saint Gregorys Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester Lower Mills.  Relatives and friends kindly invited.  Visiting hours will be held at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, on Sunday from 3-7 PM.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers a donation in Denis’ name may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Charles W. Wolf, Sr. of Plymouth, formerly of Milton, died peacefully at home on March 13, surrounded by his family.  Charles was the cherished husband of the late Patricia C. (Whelan) Wolf for 61 years and the beloved father of Maureen T. Wolf of Sutton, Patricia A. Molloy and her husband Stephen of Avon CT. Charles W. Wolf, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Andover, Anne Marie Palmer and her husband Bruce of Mansfield, Kathleen A. Kenney and her husband David of Plymouth and the late Kevin G. Wolf.  Loving grandfather of Cameron, Christopher, Sadie, Michael and Madelyn.  Brother of Doris Houlihan of Plymouth, Alice Nicholson of Scottsdale, AZ, Norma Donelan of Fort Myers FL, Marilyn Sherry of Wellesley , Paul Wolf  of Warwick RI and the late; Gus Wolf, Joseph Wolf, John Wolf and Robert Wolf.  Also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, Reedsdale Rd., Milton on Saturday, March 21 at Noon.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visitation 10:00-11:30 AM Saturday March 21 at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON.  Interment Milton Cemetery.  Late retired employee, Parke-Davis and R.G. Elizabeth Cosgrove Kelley

Kelley_ElizabethwebpageElizabeth Cosgrove Kelley, of Shrewsbury and Green Harbor, MA, formerly of Chapel Hill, NC and Milton, MA died March 13th at Southgate Assisted Living Facility. She was 93.

Mrs. Kelley was born in Malden, MA, the daughter of Joseph F. and Anna Josephine (Sullivan) Cosgrove. She grew up in Milton and attended the Milton Public Schools graduating from Milton High School in 1939.  She was a graduate of Regis College and Boston University School of Business.

Upon graduation from business school, she worked in the Harvard Business School Statistics Department from 1944-1948.  Mrs. Kelley married Francis J. Kelley, also of Milton, in 1948 and they lived in Milton for many years where they raised their four children. She enjoyed walking, playing the piano, needlepoint and interior decorating.  She enthusiastically followed current events and especially enjoyed watching Red Sox games.  She looked forward to summer family gatherings with lobster dinners in Green Harbor. She was very interested in education and strongly supported her children’s high-school, college and post-graduate academic pursuits.  She and her husband were enthusiastic supporters of their children’s and grandchildren’s athletic activities and would often attend the events.  They enjoyed trips to Europe, Canada and across the US.  Mrs. Kelley and her husband retired to Chapel Hill, NC.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary K. Sullivan of Worcester, MA and her husband William, a son, John L. Kelley of East Norriton, PA and his wife, Karen, a daughter-in-law, Janet H. Kelley of Peoria, IL, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four nephews.  She was pre-deceased by her husband of 64 years in 2012.  A son, Joseph C. Kelley and a daughter, Ann E. Kelley also pre-deceased her, as well as a sister, Claire M. Ebersole and a brother Joseph F. Cosgrove, Jr.

Elizabeth’s family would like to thank all staff at Southgate, Shrewsbury Nursing & Rehabilitation , JHC Hospice and Care with a Heart for their care and support.

Isabelle Gillespie McGowan

Isabelle Gillespie McGowan, 101, died at Belmont Village, Atlanta, GA, Wednesday March 11, 2015.

Loving wife of the late Charles M. McGowan. Devoted mother of Martha McGowan Marlowe and husband Steven, of Atlanta, GA. Beloved grandmother of Adam and Elisabeth Marlowe of Washington, D.C.

A lifelong resident of Milton, she attended Milton Schools and Simmons College. As a dedicated public health nurse, she served as Director of the Quincy Visiting Nurses Association during World War II and was a longtime member of the Board of the Lung Association. She served on the Altar Guild for over fifty years at the Church of Our Saviour, Milton, where she was also a member the Vestry.

Funeral services at Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, Thursday, March 19 at 12 noon. Interment at Milton Cemetery.

Rev. Msgr. William F. Glynn, of Duxbury, formerly of Dorchester, Friday March 13, 2015.

Beloved son of the late Michael J. and Nellie T. (Hurley) Glynn. Brother of the late James M. Glynn, Most Rev. John J. Glynn and Mary T. Glynn. Msgr. Glynn is survived by his cousin Bernard O’Sullivan of Quincy, the Glynn family of Abbeyknockmoy, County Galway, Ireland and the DiCenzo family of Duxbury.

Msgr. Glynn was the Pastor of Holy Family Parish, Duxbury for 26 years, retiring in 2007. He had previously been assigned to St. Mary’s Beverly, St. Mary’s Wrentham, Mission Office for Society of Propagation of the Faith, St. Catherine’s Somerville and Saint Gregory’s Dorchester. He was an avid Red Sox fan, golfer and spectator for all Duxbury sports teams. He was the Chaplain for the Duxbury Fire Department.

Msgr. Glynn will Lie in Repose at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, Tuesday March 17 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM with a Welcoming Ceremony at 3:00 PM and Closing Prayers at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Church Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, Thursday 10AM.

Sister Mary Alma Moynihan, mfic

Sister Mary Alma Moynihan, mfic,  of Newton, MA, a beloved member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters for 75 years, died on March 9, 2015 at Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham, MA. She was the loving daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Kelly) Moynihan of Rathmore, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Sister is predeceased by her brothers:  Fred, Con, Paddy, and Br. Virgilius, FSC. She is survived by her sisters, Jane Moynihan and Bridie McCull, many loving nieces, nephews, her extended family and her Missionary Franciscan Sisters. A wake will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2:00-5:00PM with a prayer service at 4:30PM at Mount Alvernia Convent Chapel, 790 Centre St., Newton, MA 02458. Joyce, Eleanor M. (Hoye) on Sunday, March 8, 2015 of So. Boston, formerly of St.Gregory’s Parish, Dorchester and Duxbury.  Beloved wife of the late Thomas Joyce.  Loving mother of Eleanor M. McGough and her husband David of So. Boston and Paul Murphy and his wife Kate of Plymouth.  Sister of Agnes Ison of Naples, FL Ann Van Arnum of CA, Vincent Hoye of No. Attleboro and Dr. John Hoye of  Wayland and the late Rose Mary McCarthy. Ernest Harleston

Harleston, Ernest

 Mr. Ernest Harleston of Boston, MA departed this life on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He was born on October 28th, 1926 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina to the late Horace Harleston and Elizabeth Palmer. He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Harleston for over fifty-four years. This union was blessed with three children.

Ernest was educated in Monck’s Corner, SC. He became a Private in the Army Air Force from 1945 during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. Ernest spent 29 years working in the Naval Shipyard and after an honorable retirement began next stage in life as a security officer with Massachusetts General Hospital. After 14 years with MGH, Ernest earned his final retirement allowing him to spend more quality time with his loved ones.

Ernest was a connoisseur of cars and had a keen sense of fashion.  He participated in the Masonic Society, but more importantly Ernest was a praying man with strong faith and loved the Lord.

Ernest leaves to cherish his loving wife Mary Harleston. Four sons: Ernest (Gloria) Pinckney of Philadelphia, PA; Willie Lee Harleston of Chester, PA; Alphonso (Louise) Harleston of Long Island, NY; Ricky (Sheena) Harleston of Moncks Corner, SC. Four daughters: Vivian (Lathaniel) Fearrington of Hackettstown, NJ; Brenda Willborn-Harleston of Smyra, DE; Mary Smith and  Teena Smith both of Boston, MA. Three Sisters: Mary Lou Sheppard and recently departed Virginia Robinson both of Boston, MA; He was preceded in death by Leola West. 37 Grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
