Marie A. Bellerice

Marie A. Bellerice, 84 years old of Boston, passed away surrounded by her children and grandchildren Monday, on July 20, 2020. Marie Bellerice, also known as “Mama,” was born December 6, 1935, in Grand Goave, Haiti, to parents Antoine Bellerice and Julie Faustin. Marie was the second oldest of four children.
At a young age, Marie moved to Port-au-Prince to continue her education at La Sagesse vocational school, where she learned embroidery and spent three years crafting her skill. With talent in embroidery and pursuit of the American dream, Marie was able to get her work visa to America. Marie made her way to New York in 1969, where she was reunited with her cousins. Marie, during this time, not only worked as a professional embroidery but worked various jobs in America and finally made the decision to move to Boston. Marie was the definition of hard work and always wanted to give her the best in her career. Eventually, Marie found her dream job working as a machine operator for Gillette. Marie worked at Gillette for 25 years. At this point in her life, Marie was not only a dedicated worker but a devoted mother to three children and eight grandchildren and provided for her family and friends in an abundance of ways. After retiring from Gillette, Marie made time to travel the world with family and friends going to Italy, Greece, Poland, France, Israel, Germany, and Spain and visited many religious places.
Marie was the heart of the family and held many positions as a sister, stronghold mother, amazing grandmother (that spoiled her grandchildren to the end), teacher of discipline and patience, and a prayer warrior during difficult times. Marie’s best memories were her time cooking for family members, and she was a real comedian. Her laughter was contagious. She always had a smile on her face and rarely complained about anything but was still there to support others. Marie was also a lover of sports from rooting on the Patriots to even watching golf. This lady was our sportscaster. Marie has impacted everyone here in some way.  Some remember Marie and her life in Haiti, and others remember Mama picking them up every day from school or bringing them to Haymarket and buying them just one slice of pizza, some may remember Mama letting them only having sodas on Sunday, or remember Mama saying “Aye Stop It” if you were getting a little bit too loud around her.  Marie was indeed a ray of sunshine in many of our lives.
Today Marie is survived by her beloved brother and lifelong best friend Jean Bellerice; she is also survived by her son Ronald Bellerice and two daughters Sandra and Stephanie Bellerice. Her grandchildren Keyonna and Lorenzo Murphy, Annastaia and Jai-qwan Bellerice, Stephon Bien-Aime, Lucinda Josma, Andrew and Victoria Robinson, loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

At this time, we acknowledge all those that offer their condolences and sharing precious stories about Marie.  All our hearts are grieving for her departure to heaven. We all hope to live a life full of love and the ability to share that love beyond family members just like Marie.  We know that Marie is reunited in heaven with her sister and brother and many other loved ones.  We selfishly wanted Marie to stay longer with us, but God had a bigger plan for Marie. She is now our Guardian Angel. Rest in Peace Marie A. Bellerice. We love you so much!

Robert John Duff

Robert John “Bobby” Duff, 80, of Milton, formerly of Weymouth and Hanover, was born on Flag Day, June 14th, 1940 in Boston and was peacefully called home, surrounded by his loving family after a long and graceful battle with Parkinson’s disease, Tuesday July 21, 2020.

He is now reunited with his parents, Alice (Mackinnon) Duff and Edward Duff,  his brothers Joseph Mckinnon and Edward “Eddie” Duff, and his beloved sister, Virginia, “Ginny” Duff. He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Marie (Howley) Duff; his daughter, Erin Issel and her husband, Jerry of Carver; his daughter Katie Manning, her husband, Patrick and their children, Sophia and Georgia of Milton; his daughter, Kerry Walsh, her husband, Tommy and their children, Maggie, Norah, Erin and Delia of Milton; and his son, Michael Duff, his wife, Jenn and their children, Rocco, Ginny and Micky of Milton. He is also survived by his sister, Alice “Blondie” Doherty of Braintree; his sister Margaret “Peggy” Smith of NC; his brother William Duff and wife Leigh of Connecticut, as well as several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, and many friends, including his former Co-workers at the telephone company in Boston, where he worked as a young lineman for “Ma Bell” and remained our favorite “telephone man” through many company changes and mergers. He eventually became one of the city’s few conduit inspectors. After 47 proud years he retired from what had become Verizon and was grateful to open the door for his son, Michael and son-in-law, Tommy, ushering a new generation of  Telephone Men. But if you had asked him, the thing that brought him the most  joy was his nine grandkids, who cherished him deeply and never grew tired of putting on their silliest “Papa face”.

Born and raised in Milton, he graduated from Cathedral High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era.

Bobby was a skilled listener and he never seemed to judge you when you confided in him. He loved the stillness of dawn and was always up before you, making sure the cars were warm and the coffee was fresh. He was truly “dog’s best friend” to the many dogs and granddogs who were lucky enough to live within snack or scratch distance. He loved dancing at parties and singing Tina while he did the dishes. He loved the dry “Duff Witt” and seemed relieved he passed it on to all of his children. Bobby enjoyed travelling with Marie and in the last ten years vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard with the Manning family, He loved shrimp scampi, coffee with his kids and maybe just one more drink. He looked you square in the eye when he spoke to you. When he shook your hand you were respected and when he gave you a hug you were safe. His smile will be missed by all touched by its warmth.
