Edward L. Duffy
Edward L. Duffy, 77, longtime Milton resident, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday July 22, 2020.
Born and raised in Milton, Ed was a graduate of Boston College, class of ’66. Following graduation, Ed spent 2 years in the Peace Corps teaching in Ghana. Ed was a Senior Engineering Aide for the Town of Milton for 33 years. He was on the Milton Town Planning Board and Town Meeting member. Love of his Irish heritage took Ed many times to Ireland where he visited family. He served as President of both the Eire’s Society of Boston and the Milton Historical Society and he was the founder of the Blue Bell Tavern Society. He kept himself active playing basketball, biking and fishing.
Beloved son of the late Charles and Margaret (O’Leary) Duffy. Loving brother of Charles Duffy and his wife Ivy of Rhode Island, and the late Arthur Duffy. Cherished uncle of Ariane Swearingen and her husband Harold of Canton, and Tara Duffy of Galway, Ireland. Grand uncle of Riley, Margot and Charlie Star.
Visitation at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE Monday July 27, 4-7 PM. Due to current pandemic protocols for large gatherings, the Funeral Mass will be private. Interment Milton Cemetery.

We were very saddened to hear that Eddie passed away recently. Our deepest sympathies to Charlie, Ivy and family.
We will miss his visits to Ballinascarthy & Clonakilty where he would pop in for a quick hello and we would catch up on everything going on in Boston (especially the latest on the Red Sox!) He was so proud of his Irish roots & loved his regular trips to Ireland. He was a great character & so good to stay in touch.

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Eddie. I’ll always remember his generosity of spirit bringing me to see the red sox when I lived in Boston and the speedy visits when he was touring west Cork on his trips to Ireland. He was a character and will be remembered fondly by his Irish cousins.

I am truly sorry to learn of Eddie’s passing. I enjoyed our association through the Eire Society of Boston. I appreciated his leadership and friendship to Burns Library and Irish Studies at Boston College.

I was sorry to hear of Eddies passing. He was a lovely gentle and charming person. We kept in touch since my first visit to Boston in 1978 and enjoyed good times during his many trips to Ireland staying with my parents in Clonakilty. I will miss him. Rest In Peace.

I have lovely memories of his visits to my family home in Clonakilty where he stayed with my late parents Donal and Maureen Cullinane for many years.
