Augustine G. Rocha “Gus”, 75, of Fall River passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in New Bedford.

Augustine was passionate about educating others and he did so for over 30 years as a teacher at Morton Junior High and  Durfee High School in Fall River.

He was the son of the late George and Isabel (Botelho) Rocha and the brother of the late George Rocha of Fall River. He is survived  by his son George A. Rocha of Fall River and his daughter Jennifer Cabral, son- in-law Ozzie Cabral and his two grandchildren Madison and Mason of Swansea and as well as his nieces and great nephews.

Dr. Manfred Ernesti passed away at his home in Milton, Sunday March 17, 2019.

He was born in Germany, received his medical degree in Argentina and practiced medicine in Boston/Milton. Completely devoted to his patients, always intellectually curious and fully immersed in those unsuspecting momentsof life.

He is survived by his sons William of Halifax, Richard of London, England, John of Milton and Alex of Concord, his daughters Monica Agnes Ernesti of Cesena, Italy,  Cecilia Ernesti Bailey of Cohasset and seven grandchildren. He is in the hearts of the incomparable family into which he married and his medical colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Teodelinda Ernesti. He will now forever be with his love, his wife Julia Agnes Ernesti.

John “Jack” F. Coyne was born April 12, 1926 in Worcester to Michael and Mary (Friel) Coyne.  He was the middle of three children.  Jack graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1943 and enrolled in the engineering program at Worcester Polytech.  He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific until discharge in 1946.  Upon finishing his degree in 1948, Jack went to work for New England Telephone.  While there he earned his MBA from Boston University.  He would work for the Bell System companies in Boston, Framingham, New York City and New jersey for 43 years until his retirement in 1989.

In 1949 Jack met Marjorie Walsh.  They married in 1950 and enjoyed 66 years together.  Together they raised 6 children primarily in Hingham and Pompton Plains, NJ.  In retirement Jack and Marge lived in Harrison, Maine and Florida, moving to Fort Pierce, FL permanently in 2011.

Jack followed his Boston sports teams closely and was especially happy that he was able to see the Red Sox (finally) win the World Series in 2004, 2007, and 2013.  He loved to play golf, especially after he retired and has 3 holes-in-one to his credit.

Jack was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie (Walsh) Coyne.  Devoted father of John Coyne, Jr. and his wife Diane of Canton; David Coyne and his wife Dorothy, Michael Coyne and his wife Joanne, all of NJ; Marjorie “Penny” Quackenbush and her husband Kevin of Middleboro; and Dennis Coyne and his wife Chae of ME; and the late Peter Coyne.  Cherished grandfather of Meghan, Kasey, Jaime, Elizabeth and Michael Coyne; Tara Speer, Katie Gordon; and Josh Quackenbush.  Brother of the late Evelyn Irwin and Rita O’Leary.

Barbara Bradley Falcone, 94, of Longboat Key, FL and North Falmouth, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday March 9, 2019.

Christine M. Maguire, 67 of Dorchester, passed away March 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of Laurence “Dusty” Maguire.  Loving mom of Laurie Maguire of Watertown and the late Erika Maguire.  Sister of Jan Macpherson of VA and Douglas Macpherson of CA.  Sister-in-law of Thomas Maguire and his wife Mary of Canton and Marjorie Moss and her husband Robert of North Reading.  She is survived by her step-mother Virginia Macpherson of VA and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Washington, D. C. to the late Alan and Frances (Wagonner) Macpherson, she earned a Masters in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts Boston.  Dedicated to her field, Christine was an Educational Consultant for many years.  She was a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Boston Worker’s Alliance, The People First and Dorchester People for Peace.  Christine was an advocate for the Big Sister Association.  She cherished her time as a role model and big sister to Joeliants.

John T. Driscoll, 93, of Milton, March 11, 2019.

Beloved husband of the late Jean M. (Francis) Driscoll. Loving father of John T. Driscoll Jr. and his wife Nancy of Camden, ME, William J. Driscoll of Machias, ME, James F. Driscoll of Scituate, Jean M. Williams and her husband Stephen of Norwood, Paul J. Driscoll and his wife Christine of Canton, Maureen LeBlanc and her husband Robert of Milton and Robert E. Driscoll and his wife Maureen of Milton. Papa of 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Nicholas J. Driscoll, Mary A. Cook, William P. Driscoll and Helen C. Zona. He was Chairman of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority for 20+ years and Vice-President for Administration at Boston College, his beloved alma mater, for 15 years. Earlier in his career, during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s, he held elected office having served as a State Representative in the Massachusetts House and later as State Treasurer of Massachusetts.

Mark J. Marandett, age 74, died March 9, 2019 in South Shore hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Worcester, MA to the late Francis and Agnes (O’Toole) Marandett.

Mark received his undergraduate degree and his Master of Guidance and Psychology degree from State College, Worcester.   He continued his graduate studies in Educational Administration throughout his career at Boston University, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Fitchburg State College and Notre Dame College.

Mark dedicated his career as an educator. He was a teacher in Los Angeles, CA, and Fitchburg, MA and later became an Assistant Principal in the Fitchburg school system.  He was a Principal in the Derry, NH public school system at Derry Village School for 15 years.

Mark later became an insurance agent for the Horace Mann Insurance Company serving the needs of educational professionals.  He also found time to work with the special education students in Derry and Londonderry, NH.

Mark was an avid reader and master of puns. He especially enjoyed boating, swimming and fishing on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH. He was a collector of steins, Looney Tunes glassware and watches.

Mark is survived by his wife Beverly (Joyce) Marandett, his daughter Kerry and her husband Kurt Kiley of  Londonderry, NH, daughter Kristen and her husband Matthew O’ Hara of Milton, MA. Grandfather of Patrick and Reade O’Hara of Milton. Brother of Ann O’Connell of CA and Paul Marandett and his wife Nancy of Dover, MA.  Uncle of John, Matthew and Thomas O’Connell, Eric Marandett and Lynn (Marandett) James.

In Weymouth, formerly of South Boston and Quincy, March 5th, Virginia E. MacDonald, peacefully after two years of failing health.  Ginny was born in South Boston, MA, in 1927 to John and Jane MacDonald.  She is survived by her loving and caring sister, Jean M. Breen and her husband, Harry of Quincy and was predeceased by siblings Helen Hartigan, Katherine Mossbacker, Frances McLaughlin, John MacDonald and Phyllis Dailey; and leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Ginny was employed by the Registry of Motor Vehicles and State Lottery Commission.  She spent much good time with her sisters and brother, traveled to Florida and loved indulging her nieces, nephews and their children.  In retirement, Ginny became the best dog sitter and a Eucharist minister, enjoyed dining at the Common Market Restaurant and cherished her friends and neighbors living at the Moorings in Quincy!

The family wishes to thank the Dwyer Home and their wonderful staff for the compassionate and quality care for Ginny.
