William D. Kelly

William D. Kelly IV was born at St. Margaret’s Hospital on February 18, 1964. He grew up in Randolph, MA. Bill moved to Hingham with his family in 1979, and graduated from Hingham High School in 1982. During those years, he enjoyed playing football and playing in a band with friends from the neighborhood. He worked part time for the Boston Red Sox as an usher for many years, and his main position was as a freelance audio visual technician. More recently, he worked for Reebok. He was multi-talented musically and artistically. Bill was an avid reader and loved about Boston’s history. He always had dogs, and enjoyed spending time with Seamus, and more recently, his Boston Terrier, Ruby, and cooking out with his friends. He enjoyed the company of his many friends in his neighborhood of Dorchester, where he lived for many years. He leaves his mother, Judith Kelly from Bourne, his father William D. Kelly III from Middleboro, a sister, Marcia Kelly Patch  from Norwell, and a brother Brian Kelly from Hull. He was also survived by 11 cousins, 2 nephews and one niece, 5 aunts and 2 uncles. A celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 11 in the Chapel, Cedar Grove Cemetery Adams St., Dorchester 1-2 PM. Relatives and friends invited.

Laura M. Martin

Laura M. (Contestable) Martin,94, of North Quincy formerly of Dorchester passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Laura was born in Quincy on October 19, 1924 to Nicholas and Florence (Taylor) Contestable. After marrying the love of her life, Richard she moved to Dorchester, where she raised her family. She worked as a Manager of Central Supply at the Carney Hospital of 25 years.

Beloved wife of the late Richard F. Martin, Sr.  Loving mother of Richard F. Martin, Jr. and his wife Diane of Marshfield, Michael T. Martin and his wife Dotty of Hanover, William Martin and his wife Mary of Quincy, Jane Daley and her husband Michael of Westwood and Patrick Martin and his wife Tammy of North Quincy and the late Nancy Martin-Landers and Robert P. Martin. Cherished Nana of 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Sister of Claire Sullivan and the late Eleanor Tamborello and Paul Contestable.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 10:30am in Sacred Heart Parish, 386 Hancock Street, Quincy.  Visiting hours on Monday, April 29, 2019 4-8PM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS.  Interment Private.

Per H. Nylen

Per H. Nylen, of Dorchester, MA passed away peacefully at home on April 17th, 2019 at the ripe old age of 90. Per leaves his treasured wife of 58 years, Margaret (Peg) Flynn Nylen, and five children: Ellen Nylen of Worcester; Susan Nylen and her husband Roberto Quesada Diaz of Malden; Carl Nylen and his wife Lisa of Ipswich; Peter Nylen and his wife Kerry of Portland, OR; and Paul Nylen of Portland, OR. Per is also survived by 7 much-loved grandchildren; Amalia, Sarah, Nicolás, Lucía, Emily, Manuel and Finn. He is pre-deceased by his parents Mauritz and Asta (Norling) Nylen; brothers Gustav and Lars; and sisters Karin and Helen.

Per was born in Abington on December 13,1928 to Swedish immigrant parents. He grew up with a strong connection to Swedish traditions, holidays and food. He graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1946 and enlisted soon after in the US Army, following in the footsteps of his brothers Gustav and Lars, both of whom served as paratroopers during WWII.  He turned 18 years of age on a troop ship heading to Japan, and served from 1946-48 with the Military Police in Yokohama. His service in Japan left him with a profound lifelong appreciation for Japanese culture, art and design.

After being discharged from the Army with education benefits from the GI Bill, Per enrolled at UMass Amherst in the Landscape Architecture program and graduated in 1952. While working as a landscape architect in South Deerfield he met Peggy Flynn and they were married in 1961, settling in Florence (Northampton). Per practiced Landscape Architecture for over 40 years, first with his own firm in Northampton and later in Duxbury. Upon his retirement Per and Peg moved to Dorchester where they have happily resided for 20 years in the Lower Mills neighborhood.

Per had many interests and talents that he shared generously with those around him. He was an excellent cook, gardener, carpenter, clam-digger, cribbage-player and music-lover with a deep appreciation for the natural world. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan, attending many games at Fenway and Pawtucket and in 2014 travelled to Spring Training in Florida.

Visitation and service is Sunday, April 28th from 11:00 – 1:00 at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester, with a reception to follow.

Burial is private.

James E. Dempsey

James E. Dempsey of Milton, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55 on April 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of Kerry (McCabe) Dempsey. Loving father of Brendan, Molly, and Kyle Dempsey. Son of William Dempsey, Jr. and the late Wilma (Murphy) Dempsey of Weymouth. Brother of Bill Dempsey, III, Kathy Zimmerman, Patrick Dempsey, Brian Dempsey, Michael Dempsey, Eileen Dempsey and the late Margaret Lima. Also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Jim grew up in Weymouth part of a large, fun-loving, athletic family. Attended college in Boston, where he met the love of his life, Kerry. They shared 36 happy years together, almost 30 years married. The joy of his life was his three children. Jim was not only a devoted father to them, but also a coach, a mentor, and their biggest fan. He also enjoyed golfing, skiing, biking, cooking and following all Boston sports teams. Jim had a zest for life and truly lived it to the fullest. He was athletic, enthusiastic, positive-minded, generous, and loving. Jim loved, and is loved, and will be forever missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church, 29 St. Mary’s Road, Milton, Monday April 29th at 10:00 am. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Sunday April 28th 3:00-7:00 pm. Interment Milton Cemetery. 

John J. Good, Jr.

John J. Good, Jr., of Milton, passed away at home Wednesday April 24th after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Devoted husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Sullivan) Good.  Brother of Pat, Anne and predeceased by Edward and Robert.  Loving father of Carol and husband Chris Dolan, Brian, Richard and wife Cheryl, Thomas, Grace, Gerald, Christina and the late John and Diane. John is survived by his 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Paul.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Monday, April 29 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Sunday 1-5 PM. Interment at a later date.

Rosa Angelica Colon

Rosa Angelica Colón of Milton MA, Dorchester MA passed away at the age of 49, on April 11, 2019  in the company of her loved ones at home.

Rosa was an Attorney at Law and a former Assistant Clerk Magistrate of the Boston Municipal Court, West Roxbury Division.

Rosa is survived by her parents Rosa Maria and Juan Ramón Colón Lozada, Sr., her siblings: Maria Angelica Colón Brown, Juan Ramón Colón, Jr., Joshua David Colón, her loving brother-in-law Ronald Guy Brown Jr., and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins of Boston, MA.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at Grace Church, 101 Wales Avenue, Avon on Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 AM.  Family and friends invited.  Visiting hour will be prior to the service from 9-10 AM and following the service from 11-12 PM.

Carol Irene (Wilcox) Ellis,84, of Milton passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved wife of the late Robert E. Ellis. Loving mother of Hannah D. Ellis of Seattle, WA., Bradford E. Ellis and his wife Melissa of Dartmouth, Barry R. Kevin J. “KB” Boyd Sr.

Kevin Boyd, age 53, or Roxbury passed away on Saturday April 13, 2019.

Kevin was born in Boston, MA to Herman Harris and Glenda Harris. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl (Canzater) Boyd. Loving father of Greg Canzater and Kevin J. Boyd Jr. Cherished grandfather of Madison Canzater, Kaden Jameson Boyd, and Kyneddi Ricketts-Canzater. Brother of Sikima Blevins Harris.

Public Viewing will be held Monday, April 22 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Concord Baptist Church, Blue Hill Avenue, Milton. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Concord Baptist Church. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.

Jakya Monique Furtick began life February 15, 2001 and Rested in Paradise April 15, 2019.

Daughter of Coreen “Prinsess” Logan and Kashka Bleach & step daughter to Adrian Logan.
