Julia J. (Murnane) Noonan

Noonan, Julia J. (Murnane), of Marshfield, formerly of Mission Hill, August 18, 2010, beloved wife of the late Edward G. Noonan, Sr. Mother of the late Edward G. Noonan, Jr. Mother-in-law of Susan K. Noonan of Marshfield, grandmother of Wesley and Edward Noonan III and great-grandmother of Riley Noonan. Sister of the late Margaret, John, Jeremiah and Daniel Murnane. Peter Jeffrey Varnerin

Peter Jeffery Varnerin, age 68, of Milton, died at his home on Monday, August 16, 2010.

Peter was a beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather “Nonno”.

Peter was born and raised in Dorchester and attended Boston Technical High School and Wentworth Institute in Boston.

He was president of Louis H. Varnerin and Sons, a building and remodeling business established by him and his father in 1950.

Peter moved to Milton in 1973 to raise his family and he resided there for the rest of his life.

Peter was an honest, faithful, and hard-working man who instilled the same values in his children. Peter loved his family, lived his life to the fullest, and never asked for much. He enjoyed fine wine, friends and  large family dinners, where he could capture a room telling stories of childhood memories.

In addition to his business and family, Peter had a passion for horses, which led to ownership of many racehorses. Among one of his favorites was “Tax Cap” that he raced at Suffolk Downs.

Precious memories were made every year at Marco Island, Florida with close friends and family. Peter enjoyed  sailing, fishing and Sunday afternoons at Stan’s.

Peter Jeffery Varnerin was the son of the late Louis H. Varnerin and the late Gertrude Mooney Varnerin,  and brother to Marilyn Schultz and Claire Curran.

Peter is survived by his wife Marika Varnerin of Milton and children Peter Jr., of Hull,

Jennifer Conchiglia and her husband Robert and grandson Nicholas Peter of Jacksonville FL., Gina Steiner and her husband Aaron of Warrenville IL, and Anna Varnerin of Milton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Aug 20 at St Agatha’s Church Milton at 10:30AMVisiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home 460 Granite Ave MILTON on Thursday 4-8PM. Interment will be in Milton Cemetery.

Peter was close to his family and friends and will be sorely missed by all. We love you Dad, you will always live in our hearts and memories.

Jeremie J. Pamphile

Jeremie J. Pamphile, a retired mason, of Dorchester, MA, died on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at his home in the presence of his loving wife, Luce Pamphile and family. He was 85 years of age. Born in Meyotte, Petion-Ville, Haiti, Jeremie was the loving father of Michaelle, Maude, Chantal, Ingrid, Marie Claude, Gina, Darlene and his late infant son Alex. Brother of the late Carmene Val, Martha Desroches, Louise Pamphile and the late Marc Moise Pamphile. Jeremie is survived by 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Olive J. (Judge) Baker

Olive J. (Judge) Baker, a homemaker, of Milton, formerly of Vero Beach, FL, died on August 15, 2010 at The John Adams Continuing Care Center in Quincy. Beloved wife of the late William J. Baker. Mother of James William Nelson of Texas, William J. Baker of Quincy, Lynda-Lee Sheridan of Milton and the late Charles Donaldson Nelson. Olive is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Joe Baker. A Memorial Service will be held in East Congregational Church, 610 Adams Street, Milton on Friday, August 20 at 11:00AM. Arthur E. Sullivan, MD

of Hingham, formerly of Milton, died at Harbor House in Hingham after a lengthy illness.

Born in Dorchester, Dr. Sullivan was a graduate of The High School of Commerce in Boston, The University of New Hampshire, and Boston University School of Medicine. He entered the U.S. Army and served in Korea for two years as a Captain.

A longtime Milton resident, Dr. Sullivan served on the School Committee for many years, including four years as Chairman of the committee.

Dr. Sullivan was the Chief of Staff at Carney Hospital and retired from practice in 1987. For several years, he summered in Cotuit with his family.

Dr. Sullivan is survived by his wife Rosemarie (Lynch ) Sullivan, four sons: David G. Sullivan of New Bedford, Arthur E. Sullivan, Jr. of New Hampshire, Christopher L. Sullivan of Hingham, Mark A. Sullivan of Cotuit, and two daughters: Julie S. Sorgi of Hingham and Maryann J. Macdonald of Hingham. He is also survived by many grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 19 at 10:30AM in Saint Agatha Church, Milton. Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home 460 Granite Ave. MILTON on Wednesday, 4-7PM. Interment will be in Milton Cemetery.

Isadore Matthews

Isadore Matthews, 71, of Hyde Park, died at his home on August 13, 2010 after a brief illness.

Born in Alabama, Isadore was raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He served in the US Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Isadore relocated to Boston where he worked part-time in the construction industry. He later became an MBTA operator of trains and buses for 14 years and a Tow Operator for the City of Boston Transportation Department for 8 years.

Isadore loved dancing and photography.

Beloved husband of Willia Mae Matthews. Father of Preston and Tara Matthews, both of Hyde Park. Brother of Mary Elizabeth Wilkins of Brockton and the late Roosevelt Matthews, Jr.

Sister Mary Martin Johns, mfic, a member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Newton and Chestnut Hill, died Sunday August 8, 2010 at Saint Patrick’s Manor, Framingham. Beloved daughter of the late Edward and Teresa (Morrissey) Johns. Sister of Edward Johns of West Roxbury, George Johns of FL, William Johns of East Boston and the late Robert “Bob” Johns. Sr. is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Gary J. Daphnis, a retired assistant principal at the Jeremiah Burke High School, Dorchester, died unexpectedly at his home in Milton, Wednesday August 4, 2010. He was 57 years old. Beloved husband of Meriane (Lacombe) Daphnis. Loving father of Yrag, Veronique and Gaetan Daphnis. Son of the late Emmanuel and Simone (Brun) Daphnis. Brother of Carine Vonleh, Hallan Daphnis, Mydrene Daphnis, Marie Michelle Adam, Claudy Daphnis, Barbara Daphnis and Stephane H. Daphnis. William F. Magner

William F. Magner, a retired United States Postal Service clerk, died Tuesday July 27 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. He was 62 years old. Born in Boston, son of the late Gerard J. and Claire M. (Metzler) Magner, Bill was an Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. Brother of Michael Magner, Robert Magner and Gerard J. Magner Jr. Graveside service with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Friday August 6 at 1:45 PM.
