Kian Malichi Wilson died at Children’s Hospital, Boston, Wednesday January 5, 2011. He was 39 days old. Beloved son of Ian and Michelle Wilson of Quincy. A family funeral service at Dolan Funeral Home and burial at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Randolph took place.

Sr. Mary Daria Higgins mfic

Sr. Mary Daria Higgins mfic, of Newton, at Saint Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, January 9, 2011. Beloved daughter of the late James and Julia (Holton) Higgins. Sister of Sheila Higgins and Maura O’Kiely, both of Portlaois, County Laois, Ireland. Sr. Daria is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Mount Alvernia Convent Chapel, 790 Centre Street, Newton, Tuesday January 11 at 10:00 AM. Visitation begins at 9:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Patricia A. Delay

Patricia A. Delay, 71, of Milton, died at her home on January 2, 2011 after an illness. A lifelong Milton resident, Patricia was a longtime employee of the F.B.I. office in Boston. She was the beloved daughter of the late William H. and Elizabeth L. (McCarthy) Delay. Sister of Elizabeth D. Jensen of Alexandria, VA. Aunt of William Jensen, Maribeth Doolin, Alicia Jensen and Laurice Tocker. Also survived by 7 grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, Milton on Monday, Jan. 10 at 10:00AM. Marie Germaine Pierre

Marie Germaine Pierre, of Mattapan, died at Marian Manor Nursing Home, South Boston, Thursday December 30, 2010. She was 88 years old. Born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, she was a longtime Boston resident. Sister of Antonio Lamerique and Alourdes Breneus, both of Mattapan. Marie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Matthew’s Church, 39 Stanton Street, Dorchester, Saturday January 8 at 10:00 AM. Mack Brown

Mack Brown, a retired Boston firefighter (Engine 16), died in Dorchester December 22, 2010.  Beloved son of the late Toshia and Jessie Mae (Jones)  Brown of GA. Loving Father of Natasha Stinson and Jessica Stinson both of Boston. Adopted son Corey Stinson.  Brother of Joseph Brown and Bessie Mae Brown Evans both of Valdosta, GA and Willie Rivers of Williamsport, PA. Long time friend of Jo’Ann Stinson of Boston. Also survived by one grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Dolan Funeral Home 1140 Washington St., Dorchester Lower Mills Saturday Dec. 8th,  10:30 to 12:30 PM with services at 12:30 PM in the funeral home.  Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Woodrow Bennett

Woodrow Bennett, owner of the former Ben’s Lounge in Dorchester’s Four Corners, died at Boston Medical Center Saturday January 1, 2011. He was 82 years old. Born in Lilesville, NC he served in the United States Navy before moving to Boston. Husband of Joyce L. McCormick-Bennett. Father of Woodrow Bennett, Gregory McCormick, Robin Kelly, Ronald McCormick, Dwayne McCormick and the late Thomas Bennett. Visiting hour at Jubille Christian Church, 1500 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, Friday January 7 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery.

Ranson Dixon

Ranson Dixon a retired auto care specialist, died at Boston Medical Center Wednesday December 29, 2010. He was 75 years old. Born in Kinston, North Carolina he was a graduate of Adkin High School in Kinston. After graduation he worked for Curtis Construction Company for a few years. He met and married his loving wife Willie Mae Simmons. They relocated to Boston in 1965. He worked at Howard Johnson Restaurant for a few years then joined Merchant Tire Company until his retirement. He is survived by his beloved wife Willie Mae Dixon, a union lasting 47 years and a son, Donald Ray Hicks of Kinston, NC. He also leaves to mourn three nieces Evelyn Sutton of MA, Constance Brown of NC and Wonderful Sutton of TX and nephew Alton Ray Sutton of NC. Son of the late Garnie Mae Warren and brother of the late Frances Dixon Sutton.

Alan G. Stone

Alan G. Stone, of Quincy, unexpectedly January 1, 2011. He was 64 years old. Cherished husband of Donna G. Stone. Devoted father of Jeffrey W. Stone and wife Mary Stone of Ipswich, Kimberly Stone and Lennard Moons of The Netherlands, Sacha A. Hatjopoulos and husband George Hatjopoulos of Blackstone and Shaina S. Moyer and husband Mike Moyer of Milton. Beloved grandfather of eight. Long-term employee of Eastern Bakers Supply, Boston MA. Evelina “Evelyn” E. (Devine) White

Evelina “Evelyn” E. (Devine) White, a homemaker, of Dorchester, died on January 1, 2011 after an illness.

Born and raised in King’s Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, Mrs. White came to the United States at the age of 17. She was a resident of Dorchester for over 68 years and was a longtime member of Saint Gregory Church.

Beloved wife of the late Leo F. White. Loving mother of Leo F. White of Revere, Maureen Magri of Milton, Paul White of Georgia, Kevin White of Dorchester, Kathleen Loranger of Plymouth and Joanne Anderson of Brockton. Also survived by 21 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester on Wednesday, January 5 at 9:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Mass. Rick Torraco

Rick Torraco, of Quincy, died peacefully while he was surrounded by his family on December 30, 2010.

Born and raised in Watertown, Rick was a graduate of Watertown High School. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a radio and television technician at Channel 7, WHDH-TV in Boston. He was a member of IBEW Local 1228 Electrician’s Union and The Quincy Historical Society.

Beloved husband for 60 years of Joan M. (nee Johanna McCarthy). Loving father of Richard of Nebraska, Robert of Braintree, Joanne Harney of Reading, and Kathleen Torraco of Quincy. Brother of Nancy Mancusi of Medford and the late Mario and Italo Torraco. Rick is also survived by seven grandchildren: Lauren, Maureen and Nicholas Torraco, William and Catherine Harney and Brian and Christine Sorensen and  by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Rick was a lifelong member of the Quincy Tennis Club. During more than 40 years as an active member, he had numerous lifelong friendships.

After a long and successful career in broadcasting, Rick spent his retirement years sharing his love of sports with his friends, children and grandchildren. He was also actively involved in parish activities at St. Agatha’s Church in Milton. In addition to his ongoing parish involvement, he traveled extensively with many friends who also live in the parish.

Rick’s lifelong love was soccer. From his earliest days as captain of the Watertown High School team through semi-pro league play, he extended his participation in the sport as a referee at the high school level and as a coach with younger children.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 10:30am. Relatives and friends invited.
