Elaine (Dunford) Kelley

Elaine (Dunford) Kelley, of Milton, died at her home on August 1, 2011.

Born in Boston, Elaine was a lifelong Milton resident. Prior to her retirement, she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Boston Edison. She was an active parishioner at Saint Elizabeth Church, Milton where she served as the Chairperson of the Hospitality Committee.

Beloved wife of Paul I. Kelley.  She is survived by her children: Paula, Ted and Harriet, 5 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Haley) Dunford. Sister of Edward Dunford and his wife Elaine of Rockland and the late Francis Dunford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, Milton on Wednesday, August 3 at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. MILTON, Wednesday 9:00-10:30AM.

Paul R. Wilkas

Paul R. Wilkas, 84, of Hanover, formerly of Dorchester, died at Carney Hospital in Dorchester on July 30, 2011. A retired Computer Analyst, Paul was born and raised in Dorchester and graduated from Boston College. During his college years, he was one of two scholars selected by Cardinal Cushing to attend the Pax Romana Conference in Spain. He documented his experiences in articles that were published in The Boston Globe and Boston Post newspapers.  Paul enjoyed books and the arts. He was the beloved husband of Mary ( Manfredi) Wilkas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester, on Wednesday, August 3 at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Michael D. Nalepa

Michael D. Nalepa, a resident of Scituate, died suddenly at South Shore Hospital, Sunday July 24, 2011. He was 53 years old.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, he was a graduate of Rutherford High School in Detroit. Michael was a salesman for Rock Bottom Stone Outlet in Milford. He had worked for New York Carpet World for over twenty years and also was a sales manager for Empire Carpet.  He enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, was passionate about music and loved his Shih Tzu dogs.

Beloved husband of Susan M. (Trapilo) Nalepa. Son of Dorothy (Jenkins) Bierbower of Detroit and the late Ronald Nalepa. Brother of Lisa Nalepa and Kevin Nalepa, both of Detroit, Richard Trapilo and the late Sonny Trapilo, Bobby Trapilo and Stephen Trapilo. Devoted uncle of Michael, Nicole, Kristin, Ricky, Jordyn, Devyn and Ozzy-Dean Trapilo.

Mary Loretta Crowley

Mary L. (Wojcik) Crowley, a retired clerk, died at her home in Milton, Friday July 22, 2011. She was 85 years old.

Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of Our Lady of Czestochowa School, South Boston.  Mary was married in Oakland, California, where she taught tap and ballroom dancing while her husband was stationed there. Upon returning to Boston, she began raising her family and operated Crowley Florist in Dorchester. Mary worked as a retail clerk at R.H. Stearns for many years and retired from Quincy District Court in 1987.

She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed knitting, completing crossword puzzles and playing cards. She will be missed by all.

Loving mother of Frederick J. Crowley of Bristol, NH, Kevin J. Crowley of Boston, Therese M. Lynch of Harwich and Bryan J. Crowley of Marshfield. Sister of Helen Coogan of Yarmouthport and the late Johnny Wojcik, Stanley Podchakowski and Sophie Gentile. Mary is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

Fotina (Sotir) Demitri, of Milton, in her 99th year, Wednesday July 19, 2011. Beloved wife  of the late Simon Demitri. Mother of Mrs. Robert (Tefta) Burrelli of Plymouth and Georgianna Demitri of Milton. Sister of Arthur Sotir of Walpole and the late Argile and Rachie Sotir. Grandmother of Robert Burrelli II and his wife Christine and Lisa Brini and her husband Clyde, all of Plymouth. Great-grandmother of Robert III, Gemma and Joel Burrelli and Niko and Enzo Brini. Paul E. Gormley

Paul E. Gormley, a dedicated husband and father, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 14, 2011.  He was 89 years old.

Born and raised in Dorchester, Paul was a graduate of Boston Technical High School. He entered the US Navy during World War II and served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters. Upon discharge he joined the New England Telephone Company where he worked for 39 years, retiring as a manager with AT&T. After retirement he worked at the Murphy School in Dorchester, assisting students with special educational needs.

Mr. Gormley vacationed every summer at the family residence on the St. John River in New Brunswick. He was a Milton resident.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Helen M. (Gunn) Gormley. Loving father of Mary Gormley and Anne Gormley, both of Milton, Ellen Pasquale and her husband William of E. Amherst, NY, John Gormley and Nancy Feeney of E. Bridgewater and Paul Gormley and his wife Kimi Iguchi of South Boston. Grandfather of Brian and Julia Pasquale, both of E. Amherst, NY, Amanda Gormley of Raynham and Jessica Gormley of Watertown. Great-grandfather of Hannah Butler. Brother of Mary Callahan and Catherine Gormley.

(Ret.) Boston Police Detective Edward P. Butler

(Ret.) Boston Police Detective Edward P. Butler,  of Dorchester, died peacefully early Saturday morning July 16th, 2011 in his son’s home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness at the age of 88.

Born on February 13, 1923 in Boston, son of the late Edward J. Butler and Delia (Burke) Butler; he was raised in South Boston and moved to the Dorchester section of Boston where he resided for many years. The family summered for over 48 years in Humarock.  

A graduate of South Boston High School with the Class of 1940, Mr. Butler joined the United States Marine Corps after graduation and served during World War II.

Mr. Butler was employed with the City of Boston Police Department. He was appointed to the Boston Police Department in January of 1951, retiring after many years of service to the Boston community as a Detective in 1988.

He was a member of the Boston Police Benevolent Detective Association and the Boston Police Relief Association. 

Family was most important to him and in his spare time he was passionate about playing handball, painting various things and enjoying a fine cigar.  

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Evelyn V. (Vaughan) Butler, his devoted children Edward “Buddy” Butler and his wife Patricia of Hingham, Michael V. Butler (B.P.D) and his wife Joan of Walpole, Stephen M. Butler and his wife Elizabeth of Dorchester, Jeanne Dalton and her husband John of Neponset, and Judith Butler of Dorchester, and his dear sister Ruth McGilvery of South Boston. In addition he is survived by 16 cherished grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

Beloved father of the late Paul Francis Butler and Marianne T. Butler, brother of the late Marguerite Torndorf and Gertrude Stack.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Gregory’s Church, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited. Catherine Petrakos

Catherine Petrakos, of Quincy, formerly of Milton, died at Hancock Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy on July 13, 2011.  Born in Saco, Maine, Ms. Petrakos was raised in Dover, New Hampshire where she was a member of the women’s basketball championship team. She later moved to Milton, MA and resided there for over thirty years. Prior to her retirement, Ms. Petrakos was the Office Manager for Conn Organ Company in Boston, MA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Peter and Pauline (Kmoulakos) Petrakos . She was the sister of James Petrakos of Westwood and the late Steven Petrakos and Stella Pappas. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral service at Saint Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree, Monday, July 18 at 11:00 AM. Joseph J. Finnell Jr.

Joseph J. Finnell Jr., of Milton, died at South Shore Hospital, Tuesday July 5, 2011. He was 81 years old. Born July 25, 1929 in Boston, MA to Alida and Joseph J. Finnell Sr. Joseph served in the Navy and married his high school sweetheart, Mildred E. Sullivan.  Joe worked many years at the Boston Globe but decided he wanted to start his own business. Together Joe and Mil built a family business consisting of commercial and residential properties.  Finnell Properties has been in business for over 45 years and has included 4 generations of family members. A passionate golfer, he was a member of Wollaston Golf Club in Milton and Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. He was also passionate about tennis, so much so that he built the Weymouth Tennis Club and went to watch the US Open, and Wimbledon tennis championships over 25 times. His other loves were biking, walking, spending time with his family and traveling. Loving husband to Mildred for over 60 years, he is survived by his wife, and five children; Jack his wife Karen of Maryland, Bill and his late wife Michaela, Mike and his wife Mary Ellen, Lyn, and Kathy and her husband Jon, all of Milton.  Proud grandfather to Katie, Matthew, Ally, Kirsten, Billy, Michaela, Kassy, Abby, and Brenden, and great-grandfather to McKenzie. Brother to the late Dorothy Finnell, Louise Cardillo, William Finnell, and Lorraine Finnell. Surviving him are his brothers Robert Finnell Sr. of Hull, James Finnell of Norwood, and sisters Jean Hoffman of Lynn, and Joan Savia of Lynn, along with many nieces and nephews.
