Kristen (Vea) Coffman

Kristen (Vea) Coffman, a longtime resident of the Boston Home, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2011. She was a beloved daughter, sister and aunt and her steadfast spirit will be greatly missed by those who cared for her and loved her. Survived by her mother Janet (Swinehart) Vea of Fort Myers, FL, brother Peter and his wife Janet Vea of Canton, Michigan, sister Meg and her husband Patrick Barry of Kennebunkport, Maine and four nieces and one nephew. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 19 in the Activities Room at The Boston Home, 2049 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Boston at 2:00 PM. Donald Cox

Donald Cox, of Braintree, formerly of Dorchester, Tuesday August 9, 2011. Beloved husband of Christine A. (McKiernan) Cox. Loving father of Ryan and Anna Cox of Braintree. Dear son of Daniel and Anne Cox of Dorchester. Son-in-law of John and Ann McKiernan of Milton. Nephew of Roseleen and Rita Cox, both of Quincy. Donald is also survived by three brothers-in-law and many loving friends. Agathe G. Cazeau

Cazeau – Agathe G., of Malden, formerly of Somerville and Dorchester, died peacefully, Thursday August, 4, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center after a brief illness.  She was fondly known as “Tata” to her family and friends.  She was 73. Tata was born in Petion-ville, Haiti.  She worked as an accomplished dressmaker until she was 30 when she immigrated to the United States.  She continued working as a seamstress when she arrived, and then started her 34-year-long career at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  She finally retired from the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2007. Tata loved to travel and shop.  Her travels took her all over the world.  She was also an active member of the Catholic Church. She was the beloved sister of Albert Cazeau, and his late wife Jesula, and the late Casimi Cazeau, all of Dorchester.  She had two children, Pierre Lys, and his wife, Shirley, of Miami, and Lisbeth of Malden.  She was the proud grandmother of Gabriella, Sabreena, Mahalia, and Zion.  She is also survived by and will be forever missed by her many loving nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Friday from 6-9 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Angela’s Church, Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan Saturday August 13 at 12 Noon, with interment at Forest Hills Cemetery immediately following.

Rita G. (Callanan) O’Connor

 

Rita G. (Callanan) O’Connor, of Milton, died at Milton Hospital on Sunday, August 7, 2011 after a period of failing health.

Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Jeremiah Burke High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School. Rita worked for the Internal Revenue Service for four years until her marriage to John J. O’Connor, Jr. in 1944. Mrs. O’Connor worked as a clerk for the Public Works Department in the Town of Milton from 1969 – 1970.

She was active with many organizations in Milton, including the Milton Council of Aging, Milton Senior Citizens, Catholic Daughters of America in Milton, Cunningham Bowling League and was the first president of the Saint Agatha Bowling League. A resident of Milton for over 34 years, she moved to Leisurewoods in Rockland for 9 years before returning to Milton in 2001.

Beloved wife of the late John J. O’Connor, Jr. Daughter of the late Eugene J. and Mary G. (Delahanty) Callanan. Devoted mother of Patricia M. and her husband Richard Guerriero of South Weymouth, John J. and his wife Dorothy O’Connor of Scituate, Kevin F. and his wife Bettyann O’Connor of Hull, Brian R. and his wife Johanna O’Connor of Marblehead and Kathleen F. and her husband David F. Murphy of Reading. Rita is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her turtle Clyde.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Thursday August 11 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, MILTON, Wednesday 4-8 PM.

Marie D. (Saunders) Kandle, of Quincy, died at Quincy Medical Center, Friday July 22, 2011. Beloved wife of the late John Kandle. A  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton and interment followed at Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Rosa D. (Hubert) Williams

Rosa D. (Hubert) Williams, died at Epoch of Sharon, Thursday July 21, 2011. She was 59 years old. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, she has been a resident of Boston for many years. Beloved mother of Sonya Williams and Tarsha Williams. Sister of Melvin Hubert, Dorothy Dawkins, Deborah Hubert, Milledge E. Hubert and the late Robert Hubert. Funeral service at Morningstar Baptist Church, Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan, Friday July 29 at 11:00 AM. Visitation begins at the church at 10:00 AM. Interment Mount Hope Cemetery.

Cheryl J. Burnett

Cheryl J. Burnett, 57, died July 21, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Melrose, MA after a long illness.

She was born November 28, 1953 in Boston, MA and was the daughter of Edwin Burnett and the late Louise Burnett.

She attended Wakefield, MA schools and received a BS degree in biology from McGill University in 1975. She also received diplomas in education, secondary math/science and family life education and human relations from McGill in 1980. She earned a MA degree from Lesley College in expressive therapy in 1988 and a graphic arts certificate from Hendricks Institute in 2002.

She taught secondary math, physics and economics in Canada and worked as a case manager for human services in the Boston area.

She was fluent in French and wrote poetry. She loved music and singing and was the one who always remembered the words.

Besides her father, she leaves her brother Philip Burnett and his wife, Pilar, as well as her niece, Alicia, of New York. She also leaves her devoted friends: Joanne, Barbara, Nancy and Marilyn.

She was a member of First Parish Congregational Church in Wakefield, MA. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to be held at her church on Saturday, August 20, at 11:00AM.

Charmaine “Charlie” (Learning) Young

Charmaine “Charlie” (Learning) Young, passed away on Thursday July 28, 2011, after a short illness with her family at her side. Born in Newfoundland, Canada, Charmaine moved to the United States with her family and settled in Dorchester. She was educated in the Boston School System and graduated from Dorchester High School in 1971. Charmaine was a homemaker who was devoted to her only son, Shane. She adored her two grandchildren, Colby and Brett, and cherished spending time with them on long walks, coloring, swimming and reading books. Charmaine is survived by her son, Shane, and daughter-in-law Kerry, and her grandchildren Colby and Brett. She was the loving daughter of Louise Learning and the late Frederick Learning. Sister of Sandra Mastracola of Quincy, Frederick Learning of Pembroke, Douglas Learning of Weymouth and Perry Learning of Quincy. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
