John J. McMaster

John J. McMaster, born December 9, 1914, of Dorchester, October 12, 2012. Widower of the late Helen C. (McMorrow) McMaster.Father of Helen M. McMaster, John J. McMaster and Daniel K. McMaster. Loving grandfather of Christina, John, Jenny, Emily, Daniel and Kaitlin. Great-grandfather of Mary, Suzanna and Matthew. Brother of Marguerite Hennessey of Mansfield, Mary Hughes of Worcester, and the late Nora Fletcher, Katheline Harris,Gerard McMaster and Francis McMaster. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory’s Church, Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Tuesday October 16 at 10:00 AM. Beverly M. Brandt

Beverly M. Brandt, of Quincy, passed away peacefully Wednesday October 10, 2012. Born in the Harley Hospital, Dorchester on November 1, 1926.  She lived her life in South Boston, Dorchester, Braintree, Quincy and for many years was a summer resident of Wellfleet on Cape Cod.  Beverly earned an undergraduate degree at the State Teachers College and a master’s degree at Boston University.  She spent many years as a teacher in the Boston school system and retired as an Executive Administrator. Her father Charles was a Communication Engineer for the telephone company and her mother Mary was a lawyer.  Her uncle Charles Mackie was a well known doctor affiliated with Carney Hospital then in South Boston and was elected as the chairman of the Boston School Committee and was honored with a school named after him.  Beverly was an extensive traveler throughout Europe and as a hobby became an ardent reader of many interesting subjects. She leaves her dear friend and neighbor Peter O’Neill and the late Dr. Charles Hamilton of Quincy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton, Thursday October 18 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Sophia K. (Jankowski) Roman, died at her home in Milton, Friday October 12, 2012. Born and raised in Dorchester, Mrs. Roman moved to Milton in 1954. She was an interior decorator. Wife of the late William J. Roman. Father of William J. Roman Jr. and his wife Sherryl of Pembroke, Robert S. Roman and his wife Conny Collier of Braintree and the late John F. Roman. Grandmother of Christian Roman of CA, Debra O’Hara of IL, Stephen Roman of Boston and Gregory Roman of Weymouth. Great-grandmother of three. Sister of the late Edmund J. Jankowski, Adelle T. Jann, John Jankowski, Edward Jankowski and Lottie Jankowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Monday October 15 at 10:30 AM. Edwin Bradley Richardson

Edwin Bradley Richardson 83, died July 22, 2012, in Milton, Massachusetts with members of his family at his side after a long illness. He was born April 26, 1929, in New York City to David and Jane Richardson and attended the Buckley School before heading to Milton Academy in Milton, MA where he graduated in 1948. He then attended Harvard University, graduating in 1953 where he played 4 years in goal for the Crimson Hockey team, most notably as the winning goaltender in the inaugural Beanpot tournament. Hockey was one of his true loves and he attended many Harvard games over the years becoming a fixture at the Bright Hockey Center in Cambridge. Brad spent his entire working career in Education. He started as a History teacher at the Hopkins Grammar School in New Haven, Conn where he also coached hockey and track. He then accepted the position of headmaster at the Harvey School in Katonah, NY before finishing his career at Harvard College, as a Senior Admissions Officer retiring in 1984. With school vacation schedules, Brad was able to spend many summers on his favorite island of North Haven, ME where he honed his considerable sailing skills and was Commodore of the North Haven Casino. He continued his love of sailing and had great success racing his favorite Ensign over the past 3 decades. He was an active member of the Milton Rotary, Milton Hospital, St. Michaels Church and was a board member of the Forbes Museum in Milton and a trustee of the North Haven Library. A gifted musician, he enjoyed many a “sit in” with the Center Streeter’s band, playing bass and providing considerable talent as a back up singer. The past few years of his life were spent working at Milton Academy where he assisted Alumni Fundraising efforts. Brad was preceded in death by his wife Anne Lindsay Miner and his brother David Lord Richardson, Jr. He is survived by his sister, Jane Richardson Beattie and his three children, Lindsay Thomas, Brad Richardson Jr. and Charles Richardson along with 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by Linda Foehl of Dover with whom he shared loving support and companionship in recent years. Rosina Sherwood Coolidge

Rosina Sherwood Coolidge, of Canton, MA, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 29, 2012. She was born in El Paso, Texas on January 11, 1924, when her father was stationed in the US Cavalry. She was a daughter of the late Elsie Burr Sherwood and Col. Philip H. Sherwood; wife of the late John T. Coolidge and mother of the late Philip S. Coolidge. She is survived by her daughters Mae Ling Coolidge Doherty and her husband Daniel B. Doherty of Arlington, MA and June Coolidge Scott and her husband Randy Scott of Canton, MA. She has four grandchildren, Hannah, Molly, Austin and Isabella and 14 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was the niece of the late Robert E. Sherwood Pulitzer prize winning author and playwright. She was a graduate of St. Timothy’s School in Baltimore, MD and studied painting at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. Her artistic gifts live on after her in the form of her splendid garden and her captivating paintings. She traveled extensively and she lived in Florence, Italy, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Stockbridge, MA during her husband’s artist residencies. She was a volunteer reading teacher for children in the Boston and Canton Public Schools for over 20 years. Rosina was beloved by all who knew her, especially her extended family for her unending generosity and warmth. Though her life brought her face to face with considerable tragedy, her love and wisdom and sense of humor showed all of us the best of the human spirit. A memorial service will be held in the First Parish Church (Unitarian), 535 Canton Ave., Milton on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11 o’clock.

Nancy Foss Heath

Nancy Foss Heath of Milton died on October 2, 2012.  She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Bigelow Heath.  She is survived by son Robert W. Bagley of Princeton, New Jersey.  Sister of the late Constance Foss Anthony.  Daughter of the late Eugene Noble Foss and the late Katherine (Cobb) Foss.  Funeral services will be private.  Please omit flowers.  Mrs. Heath attended The Spence School, Milton Academy, and Bryn Mawr College.  She was a longtime devotee of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and a life member of the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants.

Marie T. L.
