Paul Pierre Maurice Sr., of Mattapan, passed away peacefully at Saint Elizabeth Hospital at age 70, Sunday November 20, 2016. He was born in Jacmel, Haiti to Rosianne Pierre and Marcel Maurice. While living in Haiti, Paul was a member of a band and enjoyed playing the guitar and he loved his car. He was a flashy guy and he always stood out everywhere he went, he also had an awesome walk nobody walked like him.  Paul worked in the Maintenance department at Lesley College for 28 years along side his wife Ginique. Paul and Ginique’s marriage was truly a partnership, the got up every day and went to work together never missing a day unless they were very sick, they were dedicated to doing everything   together as a team. Paul’s treasure in life was his family, he adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.

Paul was the beloved husband of Ginique Jean-Louis of Mattapan. Loving father of Abens Maurice, Fedelyne Maurice, Paul Maurice Jr. , Kerline Jean-Louis, Michelle Jean-Louis all of Boston, Yolene Jean-Louis of Florida, Roody Laguerre of Haiti, Larouce Maurice of Haiti, Cherline Maruice of  Boston , Derlie Maurice of Boston , Michel-Ange Maurice of Haiti and Johnny Maurice of Haiti. Brother of the late Mecenne and Ysiana Maurice. Paul was the cherished grandfather of  24 grandchildren and was expecting the arrival of his first great-grandchild.

Joseph “Nene” Jean Charles passed away Wednesday, November 23 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Laurese Jean Charles. Cherished father of Laura Gabriel, Jean G. Occeus, Adhler Occeus, and Ron Occeus. Grandfather of Tsino and Vincent Gabriel. He also leaves behind his seven siblings. B. Marie Brown, daughter of the late Hugh and Ruby Spivey of Louisburg, North Carolina, was born on July 25, 1943 in Louisburg, North Carolina. She was the middle child of three girls.     After graduating high school she moved to Washington D.C. with relatives for a short period of time, before moving to Boston, Massachusetts to seek better employment opportunities. She was hired by The Polaroid Corporation and took advantage of job related courses and worked herself up the ladder to become a Senior Administrator. A position she held for approximately 35 years before retiring in 2001. Marie also had a passion for cosmetology and had a very selective clientele that she served in the evenings and on the weekends. Over the years she also volunteered and worked at the Milton General and Local Election polls, was the founder of the Milton Parent Teacher Student Friends Organization at Milton High School, active participant of the Milton Neighborhood Association, Milton Library Committee, Milton Neighborhood Watch and Milton Booster Club. During her early years in Boston she met the love of her life, Gene Brown and they married in 1968. They have one daughter, Gena Brown. Prior to and after retirement Marie became an avid walker of the neighborhood with her beloved dog Caramel. If she was not with Caramel, she was riding her bicycle to see what needed to be done to improve the neighborhood. She was affectionately known as the Mayor of the Milton. As an active voice of the neighborhood she was always a familiar face at Milton Town Hall expressing the changes needed to Milton: from freshly paved streets to assisting in the pathway for Concord Baptist Church of Boston to come her beloved town of Milton. Marie was always known for greeting and welcoming new and old neighbors to Milton and letting them know she was always a phone call away. Marie was a long time member of Phelps Chapel Baptist Church in Louisburg, North Carolina; before joining Concord Baptist Church of Boston. After a long battle with Cancer, Marie was cared for by an in-home hospice with the love and support of family and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her older sister Helen Brodie of Fayetteville, North Carolina. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Gene, daughter Gena and a younger sister Darlene Alston of Louisburg, North Carolina. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, New York and Washington D.C. During her battle with cancer Willie Johnson (Flo) and Ruth Carrington saw that Marie made every appointment and took her medications on time and reminded Marie of her refills as needed. They were able to assist Gena and I in caring for Marie for many years. A Funeral Service will be held in the Concord Baptist 180 Blue Hill Ave., MILTON, Thursday at 12 PM. Relatives and friends invited. A visitation will be at 11:30 – 12. Donations in Marie’s name may be made to the Dana Farber.

Lois Athena Nionakis, beloved mother and grandmother and proud matriarch of her family, Lois passed away in Nashua at the age of 79.  She leaves her devoted daughters Maria Stephanos and Nicole Kieser, her beautiful grandchildren Isabella and Liam and her beloved Red Sox.

Lois grew up in Dorchester, MA, attended Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls and later moved to Milton, MA, where her parents Theodore and Mary Metrakas owned the Metrakas Deli, a fixture on Pleasant Street in Milton.  She went on to attend the Cambridge School of Business and later worked at MIT Instrumentation Laboratory where she worked on the Space program.

But the most important job to Lois was being a devoted wife and mother raising her daughters in Groveland, Mass.  That’s where she carried on her father’s tradition of faithfully walking up to 8 miles a day.  She also made sure she told anybody and everybody she met about how proud she was of her daughters Maria and Nicole.

Lois was as passionate about her family as she was about the Red Sox, the Celtics, and the Patriots, in that order.  Her indomitable spirit will live on in every single person who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her daughters and her grandchildren she leaves behind her two beloved sons-in-law Dale Charles Stephanos and David Michael Kieser, her brother Christos Metrakas and his wife Maryann, her sister Elaine Krommydas and husband Father Nick Krommydas and brother Charles Metrakas and his wife Eugenia, her beloved aunt Daphne Tsanotelis, several nieces and nephews and a network of dear friends including Linda Trowbridge.

To honor Lois’ memory, her family asks that you clip and save this obituary.  She was a voracious newspaper reader and had a habit of clipping and saving obituaries.  Her empathy knew no bounds.

Family and friends are invited to her funeral service at Saint Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree, MA, Wednesday November 30 with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and the service at 11:00 AM.  Burial services will be private.

Mary C. “Kitty” Mullen, a retired executive secretary, died Monday November 21, 2016.

Born and raised in Milton, she was a graduate of Milton High School. Kitty retired from The Gillette Company after 32 years as an executive secretary. She was a former member of the Milton Players, an extensive world traveler, gourmet cook and was a volunteer for the PBS/WGBH Channel 2 auction.

Beloved daughter of the late John E. and Theresa A. (Condon) Mullen. Sister of the late Charles E. Mullen and Joseph F. Mullen. Mary is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Browne, James Robert of Milton, formerly of Dorchester.  Beloved husband of fifty years of Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Manning) Browne.  Loving father of Mary B. DiSandro and her husband Jeff of Milton.  Brother of the late Marie Sullivan and Dorothy Panetta.  Beloved grandfather of James and Maeve DiSandro.  James was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School, and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and later attended Boston College, Class of 1960, on the GI Bill.  He then began a career with the United States government that lasted thirty years, retiring as the Director of Contract Management for the Department of Defense, Northeast District. Conlan (Keating), Alice Marie of Braintree formerly of Dorchester and Milton. Beloved wife of the late Paul V. Conlan. Loving mother of Gregory “Greg” Conlan (BFD) of Leicester and Elizabeth “Beth” Collins of Braintree. Sister of the late Elizabeth Anne and Thomas Keating. Cherished grandmother of Gabrielle, Michaela, Paul and Jack Collins and Kara Marie Conlan. Sister in law of Mary Keeley of Dorchester and Joan Jaehning of Quincy.

Alice was the owner of Friends Catering in Dorchester working along side of her husband Paul at the Knights of Columbus for many years. She also worked in the Cafeteria at Milton High School. Her brother, Charlie, ran Mullen’s Mobil in East Milton Square. She was a familiar face in Dorchester, at Christmas she and her husband would open their home to everyone in the neighborhood for hot cocoa and a ride on the Christmas train that they created for all to enjoy year after year. Alice loved her family who were the most important aspect of her life. She will be dearly missed.

Robert F. Pugsley, a retired Boston Police Patrolman, died Sunday November 20, 2016. He was 85 years old.

Born in Boston and raised in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester, he graduated from Dorchester High School. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon discharge from the Army, he joined the Boston Police Department, where he served as a patrolman for 39 years, predominantly at District 3.

His family and his grandchildren were paramount in his life.

Beloved husband of the late Helen R. (Petrous) Pugsley. Loving father of Robert F. Pugsley Jr. and his wife Lori of Quincy, Christian J. Pugsley and his wife Tammy of Milton and Elizabeth Forrest and her husband Stephen of Arlington. Papa of Robert F. III, Rebecca, Molly, Luke, Andrew, Michael and Nicholas Pugsley, Zachary and Emma Forrest and great-grandfather of Robert F. IV “RJ” and Jamison Pugsley. Alexander, Carlton J. of Mattapan died suddenly on November 16, 2016.  Beloved husband of 46 years to Brenda (Bernard) Alexander of Mattapan.  Loving father of Bryan and Natalie Alexander both of Randolph.  Devoted brother of Lennox Alexander of Boston and the late Joyce, Leslie and Marjorie Alexander.  Cherished grandfather of Shalaya, Tyler, Christian and Sheldon Alexander all of Randolph.  Dear uncle of Keima Alexander and Charlene Willoughby and a host of nieces and nephews.

Carlton was born and raised in Toco, Trinidad. After settling in the United States Carlton was a dedicated employee at Brigham and Woman Hospital where he worked as an engineer for 45 years before retiring.  He enjoyed listening to all types of music and keeping himself physically fit by going for his daily walks.. Most of all Carlton adored his family who were the cornerstone of his life. He will be remembered as a man with a quick whit and a great sense of humor.  He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved him.
