Richard C. Geddes

GeddesRichardRichard C. “Dick” Geddes, age 75, of Largo, FL died unexpectedly but peacefully at Largo Medical Center on January 21, 2017 of complications of COPD. He was born in Boston on November 29, 1941. A former resident of the Squantum neighborhood of Quincy, Dick was the cherished son of the late Alice N. and Warren N. Geddes.  He is survived by his caring, inseparable companion of many years, Alice Gore of Largo, FL, his devoted twin brother Ronald W. Geddes and his wife Jan of Boston, his loving cousins Marcia Stone of New Hampshire, Naomi Zottoli of Squantum and Gretchen Zottoli of Centerville as well as his loyal childhood friend Christopher Ford of Cohasset.

Dick attended North Quincy High School and worked for many years for T. D. Downing Company, an import-export firm in Boston.

Dick was an avid sports fan who enjoyed sailing in his teen-age years as well as golf throughout his life.  Even though he resided in Florida, he faithfully rooted for the Red Sox and Bruins although he also supported baseball and hockey teams in the Tampa Bay area.  He was a voracious reader of all types of literature and enjoyed extensive travel with his family throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Bermuda for many years.

Dick retired to Florida 21 years ago and was privileged to reside in two ALF facilities during that time:  Barrington Terrace and Heron House of Largo.  Dick’s family extends its gratitude and thanks to the staff of these remarkable facilities for creating a supportive, caring environment where Dick could flourish and live independently.  Dick was a person infused with deep faith and spiritual strength who overcame challenges of serious illnesses in adolescence to live an inspiring life.

Dick’s family and many friends consider his most extraordinary quality to be the inextinguishable bond of love, loyalty, friendship and respect he shared with his identical twin brother, Ron, throughout their lives.

Burial in Milton Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be held for Dick at a date to be announced at Heron House of Largo, 2050 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL 33771.  In lieu of flowers, donations in honor and memory of Dick to Heron House of Largo will be appreciated.

William T. Rehm

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Mary Lou (Kerns) Rehm. Son of the late George and Luella (Bacon) Rehm, brother to the late George Rehm of California, Mary Rehm of Jamica Plain, Anna Rehm of Brockton. He is survived by his nephews Frank (George) Rehm and his wife Mary of Antioch, CA. Robert Keyes of Pittsfield, Brian Keyes and his wife Lena of VA. Ted (Edward) Keyes of California, David Kerns of New York. He is also survived  by his loving niece Sarah (Kerns) Reichel and her husband Kenny of Quincy.

Bill was born September 9, 1925 in Boston, graduated from Mechanic Arts High and Wentworth Institute and enlisted in the Army in WWII where he served in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a technician in the 94th Army Reserve Command in Boston and Hanscon AFB until his retirement in 1987. Bill was an active life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for over fifty five years.

Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 4th at 10:00 AM in Saint Agatha Church, East Milton. Visiting hours at Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE Friday 4-8 PM.

Anthony “Win” Chase

Win was born in Plymouth, NH to Anthony B. and Iris Chase. Win has lived in Milton since 1955. He maintained his New Hampshire roots having a summer home on Newfound Lake in Hebron.  Win was the beloved husband of 62 years to Edith (Leary) Chase. Devoted father of Kathy Ann Chase of Whitman, Anthony Gregg Chase and his wife Alice of North Easton and William S. Chase (M.F.D.) and his wife Gail of Milton. Grandfather of Rebeccah, Justin, Ethan and Moriah Pereira all of Whitman, Courtney, Jeanine and Anthony Michael Chase of N. Easton, Rudy Winston and Liam Scott  Chase of Milton.  Brother of Alma West of Bristol, NH, and the late Virginia Somersall and Warren Chase.  Brother in Law of Richard Somersall and Ruth Leary Schaetzl of FL. Uncle of Elizabeth MacLeod of ME, Nadine Leary of Milton, W. Geoffrey Leary of North Eastham, and the late Wayne Somersall .

Win was happiest doing woodworking, carpentry and construction. He was always ready to assist others. He was a faithful Patriot fan. Win was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a Sergeant in the U S Army.

Ivan M. Thelwell, of Milton died January 25, 2017. Beloved husband of Vina Thelwell (Johnson) of Milton. Loving father of Dola Thelwell-Allen and her husband Alexander J. Allen of Dorchester, Keith Thelwell of Rhode Island, Bryant Anson Thelwell of Boston and Dionne Thelwell of Milton. Grandfather of James Thelwell Mullen, Maliak Thelwell Wise, Isiah Thelwell, Briazielle Thelwell and Jenny Thelwell. Great grandfather of James Michael Mullen. Ivan is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters in Jamaica.

Ivan was born and raised in Cascade, Jamaica. After coming to the United States he settled with his wife in Milton, MA. Ivan was a hardworking, responsible business man who owned and operated a successful property management company for many years. Ivan was known for a kind man always stepping up to help those in need. He enjoyed driving on road trips with his family and fishing. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Anne M. ” Nancy” (Ballantine) O’Sullivan, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, died  January 27, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Beloved wife of the late Daniel O’Sullivan. Loving mother of Margaret “Peg” O’Sullivan of Brockton, Daniel O’Sullivan Jr. of Portsmouth, NH, Eileen Yameen and her husband James of Quincy, Joanne Healy and her husband Paul of Rockland, Annemarie Naughton and her husband Bill of Norwell and the late Mary and Anne O’Sullivan. Sister of Eleanor Ballantine, SC, of Quincy, John Ballantine of Great Falls, VA, and Frank Ballantine and his wife Susan of Brewster and the late Patricia Gallant and Elizabeth Joseph. Anne was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester. She was a graduate of Saint Patrick High School in Roxbury and attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. Anne and her husband Daniel raised their family on Robinson Street in Dorchester where they lived for many years before settling in Quincy. Anne took great pride in her home and enjoyed working on it inside and out to make it look beautiful. She was a devoted Catholic and a regular communicant at Saint Agatha Church in Milton.   Most of all Anne loved her family who were the cornerstone of her life. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved her.

James Frederick Squarey

James Frederick Squarey, of Milton, formerly of Dorchester, January 26, 2017.

Husband of the late Helen J. (Isnor) Squarey. Father of Elizabeth DeRosa of Easton, James S. Squarey of Quincy, Christine A. Squarey of Milton and Barbara L. Squarey of San Francisco, CA. Jim is the loving grandfather of six. Brother of Jean Rice of Nova Scotia.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Jim was raised in Nova Scotia and entered the Merchant Marine at the age of 15. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, earning numerous awards and decorations. Upon his  honorable discharge he moved to Boston. Jim was a salesman and owner of John R. Parry Co. Industrial Tools of Quincy. He enjoyed sailing and lived aboard his 30 foot long Cape Dory named Butterfly at Marina Bay Quincy for many years.

In accordance with his wishes, funeral services were private.

Enid H. Toney

Toney, Enid

Enid Harieth Toney was born in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on October 3, 1937 to Jonas Toney and Josephine Dick Toney. She migrated to the United States of America in 1969. On Tuesday January 24, 2017, Enid made her transition from life to eternity.

During her early teenage years, Enid attended elementary and secondary school in Sangre Grande, Trinidad. She was very outgoing and loved to dance. She was baptized in the Anglican church in Trinidad and her faith in God continued throughout her adult life.

As a young woman growing up in Trinidad, she loved playing mas. During the late 60s early 70s she was crowned the Queen of the Bands for six consecutive years during Carnival competition.

After migrating to United States of America she worked as a necktie operator in the garment district in Manhattan, New York for many years. During this time she taught herself to become a seamstress and was very good at it.

Seeking a change in life she relocated to Massachusetts and was employed at Reebok International Limited in Stoughton, MA where she excelled as a sales clerk. She was also a small business owner of a clothing boutique in Brockton, MA where she excelled in making wedding gowns, tuxedos, prom dresses, and embroideries. Her main hobby was playing Bingo.

Enid touched many lives during her life on earth. She was an ordinary woman that did extraordinary things. She would go out of her way to assist everyone. Her heart was filled with love and kindness. She leaves to mourn her sisters Emelcia, Evelyn, Jocelyn, and brother Harold. She leaves to cherish her memories with her sons Ian, Chet, Stern, and daughter Beverly along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
