Mary A. Cormican

Mary A. Cormican (Haverty) of Mattapan died peacefully on December 29, 2017. Beloved wife of  the  late Francis C. Cormican.  Loving mother of John F.   Cormican and his wife Paula of Shelburne, Mary Horan and her husband David of Bristol, CT, and  Anne  Donovan and her husband William of Bedford, NH. Sister of  Catherine  “Buba” Desmond of Weymouth.   Cherished Nana of  Molly, Eileen, John Christopher and Maura Anne. Also survived by  her nieces and nephews.

Mary was born and raised in Boston.  She was a Secretary for many years at B & M Railroad and Saint Gregory High School before retiring.  Mary enjoyed singing Irish music and dancing Irish step with her sister  “Buba”  at family gatherings, she  was very proud of her Irish heritage.  Mary was a devoted Catholic and tuned into Catholic TV on a regular basis.  Most of all Mary loved her family and spending time with them whether it  be  traveling with them or just a visit.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on FRIDAY JANUARY 52018 AT 11:00AM in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester.  Visiting hours 4-7 PM Wednesday January 3, 2018  in the Dolan Funeral Home,  1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS.  Interment  in Milton Cemetery, Milton.

John Lenane

John Lenane, age 42, formerly of South Boston and Dorchester, of Randolph, passed away peacefully  December 27,  at Seasons Hospice, Milton.

John was an accomplished Special Olympics Athlete winning many medals.

John was the beloved son of the late Catherine Lenane  Coronity. Brother of Daniel Lenane of South  Boston.  Grandson of Ann Menzler of South Boston. Nephew of Barbara Johnson and her husband Phil of Quincy. Cousin of Erik Johnson of Quincy. John also leaves many other family members and friends.

Visiting ours in the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, Saturday, December 30, 2-5 pm. Interment Private.

Gregory-Jamal Seymour Christophe of Boston, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017.

Beloved son of Gregory Christophe and Fadia Jean-Louis.

Joseph F. Timilty

Former State Senator and Former Boston City Councillor, age 79 of Canton, passed away in his home on December 22, 2017.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Elaine (Benson). Son of the late Walter Timilty and Elizabeth (Sullivan) Timilty. Brother of Norfolk County Superior Court Clerk Walter Timilty, Jr. and his wife Marcia of Milton and the late Elizabeth Ann Tessier. Loving Father of Joseph, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Canton, Patrick of South Boston, Norfolk County Treasurer and former state Senator James and his wife Mary of Walpole, Gregory and his wife Jennifer of Boston, Bart of Canton and the late Governor’s Councillor Kelly Timilty and Kara Timilty. Beloved Grandfather to Olivia, Maryjane, Patrick, Kaitlin, Gregory, Madeleine and Taylor Timilty.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, December 27 from 3 pm-7pm at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 28 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester. Burial will be private and memorial service will be held at later date.

Essie Samuels

Essie Samuels of Dorchester died on December 18, 2017 in Boston.

Beloved mother of Beverly Barr, William Samuels, Ronald Samuels, Robert Samuels, Hazel Hutcherson, Sherry Samuels, Richard Samuels, Curtis Samuels and the late  Lacey Samuels Jr., Christine Samuels Bettie Jean Reed and Ruby Evans.  Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on December 30, 2017 from 9:00-10:00am in the Greater Zion Church, 70 Wayland Street, Roxbury.  Service will follow at 10:00am.  Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park.

Colonel Charles E. Colson

Colonel Charles E. “Jack” Colson of Milton and Duxbury, December 17, age 101, Colonel Colson was predeceased in 2004 by his cherished wife of 61 years, Frances (Quinn).  He was born in Chelsea MA to the late Charles Colson and Cecilia (Nelson)Colson.  He is survived by his beloved daughters, Roberta Smith, and her husband, Bruce, of Berlin MA, Rosemary Colson of Hopkinton MA, his grandson Doug Smith and his wife Melinda of Hillsborough, NJ, his granddaughter Kathleen O’Brien of Franklin MA, his cherished great grandchildren Brett and MacKenzie Smith and their mother Jennifer and Tyler and Dylan O’Brien and their father Sean.

Mr. Colson excelled in school, graduating from Chelsea HS with High Honors, earning a scholarship to Harvard College, from which he graduated, Cum Laude, in 1939. He studied and became fluent in multiple languages during high school and college.  His mastery of German and French was particularly helpful when he entered military service and served as a Specialist with the mechanized and armored units during WWII in North Africa and Italy.  Following the war, he attended law school in the evening while working full time during the day.  He passed the Bar Exam with honors less than two years after starting law school.  He served with the legal department of Liberty Mutual for 20 years, defending policy holders in a variety of cases.  He went on to practice law privately for 30 years, representing plaintiffs and defendants in the state and federal courts and at the Industrial Accident Board, retiring at the age of 77.

Colonel Colson also remained active with the Army Reserves until he was 57.  In the USAR,  he served as an intelligence officer on the General’s staff of the 94th Infantry Division and then instructor and Commandant of the USAR School.  He continued his education, completing all courses at the Army’s Intelligence School, graduating from the Command and General Staff College at Leavenworth, Kansas, and from the Industrial War College.

In Milton, Mr. Colson served as a town meeting member for many years.  He was a member of the Harvard Club of Boston, Boston Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers, American Judicature Society.  He was a Notary Public and a licensed and bonded real estate broker.

In his 80’s, Mr. Colson became an avid computer user, teaching himself how to program his PC and amazing all with his prowess and speedy ability to master this brand new area of interest.  Mr. Colson’s curiosity and desire to learn were constant throughout his life.  During his free time, Mr. Colson enjoyed swimming, particularly enjoying long swims and long walks at Powder Point Beach, Duxbury MA.  He and his dear wife also enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing together.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 350 Reedsdale Rd., MILTON, Thursday,  Dec. 21, at 10 ‘clock.  Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury,  MA at 1:15 pm. There are no visiting hours.   Arrangements under the direction of the Dolan Funeral Home Milton.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to www.Advocates. org, 1881 Worcester Rd., Framingham, MA 01701.  Advocates, based in Framingham MA was led for more than 30 years by Colonel Colson’s late nephew.

Anne Marie (Jerome) Bellevue

Anne Marie Bellevue, 78, of Mattapan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday December 10, 2017, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born April 11, 1939 in Mirebalais, Haiti to Ellie Jerome and Annemie Nelson.  She married her childhood love, Joseph Bellevue, who survives, on December 28, 1965.  Throughout their 52 years of marriage, they were blessed with eight children.  In 1985, the couple migrated to Boston, MA to work towards a more promising future for their family.  Once here, she was employed at Copley Plaza Hotel.  After many years of hard work, she and Joseph were able to provide this pathway to a better life for their children.  In June of 1998, she was finally reunited with her children when they too migrated to Boston. Anne Marie devoted her life to St. Angela Church where she was active in the Legionary, The Holy Family, Senacle, and Charismatic groups.  She enjoyed traveling with her church family to many destinations across the states and abroad and cherished spending time with her grandchildren as they grew. Anne Marie will be missed for her loyalty to friends and family, her generosity, kindness and compassion to everyone she encountered and how she lovingly and selflessly cared for her family’s every need.

Surviving in addition to her husband are seven children Cayet Bellevue of Mattapan, Cyrus Bellevue of Everett, Carmel Bellevue Clinton and her husband Harry of Haiti, Andre Bellevue and his wife Myrlande of Brockton, Viana Pierre-Gilles and her husband Volvems of Apopka, FL, Ruyter Bellevue and his wife Allison of Stoughton, and Anel Bellevue and his wife Pamela Tavares of Hyde Park.  She was the cherished grandmother to Vivems, Sterden and Valendy Pierre-Gilles; Jacques-Hannel Clinton; Erudgy, Jeffrey, and Lucas Bellevue; Victoria, Viandy and Ralph Bellevue, and Olive Bellevue.  She was the great-grandmother to Jayce Pierre-Mays.  She was the loving sister of Albert Jerome and Eliot Jerome both of Haiti. Anne Marie is also survived by a large extended family including many nieces and nephews.

Anne Marie was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Elissie Jerome and Noresse Jerome, her sister Amelie Jerome and her daughter Nettie Bellevue who passed in 1977 at the age of 2 years old.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday December 22, 2017 from 7pm-9pm at St. Angela Church, 1544 Blue Hill Ave Mattapan, MA 02126. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 23, 2017 at 10am at St. Angela Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park, MA. All are invited to celebrate her life at a reception following interment at St. Angela Church.  The family has entrusted her care to Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. Dorchester, MA.

Rev. Raphael D. Bonanno O.F.M., of Saint Anthony Shrine, Boston, formerly of Waltham, December 15, 2017.

Beloved son of the late Anthony J. and Carmela J. (Codina) Bonanno. Loving brother of Anthony P. and his wife Geraldine Bonnano of Waltham and Sandra M. and her husband William Wolfe of Mechanicsburg, PA. Fr. Raphael is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province.

Visiting hours Monday December 18 in the First Floor Church at Saint Anthony Shrine, 100 Arch Street, Boston from 3:00-7:00 pm with a Wake Service at 5:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Second Floor Church at  Saint Anthony Shrine, Tuesday December 19 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Rosemary L. (Ryan) Lucia, of Milton, formerly of Brighton and Dorchester, December 13, 2017.

Beloved wife of the late Edmund A. Lucia. Loving mother of Maureen and her husband Jason Michael Pippenger of New Orleans, LA. Grandmother of Emma Grace and Maximus Anthony. Sister of George T. and his wife Mary (Roper) Ryan of Milton and the late Eleanor Ryan and John Ryan. Aunt of Edward J. Ryan of Canton, Mary L. Ryan of Milton, George T. Ryan of Orleans and Kathleen Ryan Lavery of Milton.
