Lourenca Lopes

Lourenca Lopes, age 90, passed away on Thursday August 2, 2018. Beloved wife of Severino Lopes . Loving mother of Maria Barbosa, Laurinda Depina, Antonio Lopes, and Jose Lopes. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, August 5 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dolan Funeral Home , 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 6 at 11:00 AM at Dolan Funeral Home  460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Brockton.

Catherine Jean Darcy

Catherine J. Darcy, formerly Freedman, born on September 7, 1977 to Claire Rice passed away on July 12, 2018.

She is survived by her two daughters, Caitlin and Taylor, her mother and step-father Claire and Jim Rice, along with her sisters Nancy, Chrissie, Dawn, Stephanie and Amy, and her brothers James, Tony, Brian, and Michael and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE, Saturday, August 4, 2018 3:00-5:00PM. Interment Private.

Dorothy E. (Newhook) Chamberlain

Dorothy E. (Newhook) Chamberlain, of Milton and Lakeville, Monday July 30, 2018. She was 91 years old.

Born in Boston and raised in Mattapan, she moved to Milton in 1955. Mrs. Chamberlain enjoyed making braided and oriental rugs and playing Mexican dominoes at the Milton Council on Aging events.

Beloved wife of the late Harold I. Chamberlain. Loving mother of Blair B. and his wife Susan Chamberlain of Milton and the late Bruce M. Chamberlain. Grandmother of Kimberly A. Chamberlain of Mansfield and Victoria G. Chamberlain Maze and her husband Neal of Colorado Springs, CO.

Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday 4-7 PM. Interment Friday at Rockhill Cemetery, Foxboro.

Annette M. (Curley) Everett

Annette M. (Curley) Everett, of Norwell, formerly of Milton, Friday July 27, 2018. She was 78 years old.

Born in Boston, Annette was valedictorian of the Monsignor Ryan High School Class of 1957 and graduated from the Boston School of Business Education. After graduation, she worked for many years for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce then moved on to raise a family. Years later she returned to the work force at TJ Maxx in Norwell where she’d regale anybody who would listen with stories of her childhood at Crescent Beach in Hull.

Beloved wife of Willard C. “Bill” Everett Jr. Loving mother of Dana B. Everett of Norwell. Sister of Marie Singh of Largo, Florida (formerly of Milton) and Francis Curley of Milton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 3rd at 9:00 AM in Saint Helen’s Church, 383 Washington Street, Norwell. Interment Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Friday at 11:30 AM.

Gloria (Melvin) Whalen

Gloria F. (Melvin) Whalen, 86, of Easton, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester,July 26, 2018.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Whalen and the mother of the late Mary A. Whalen, sister of the late Regina Donovan, David Melvin, Mary Hilliard, John Melvin, James Melvin and Paul Melvin.  Survived by her brother, Thomas Melvin, of Stoughton and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Gloria was born in and raised in Dorchester and lived most of her life in the city she loved.

Gloria was a pioneer in the insurance industry at a time when it was dominated by men. She worked for many years at Cameron & Colby and was well-known and respected as a sharp business woman.  Through her years of working, she traveled extensively to conventions and seminars and loved every minute of it.

The love of her life was her daughter, Mary.  Gloria dedicated herself to her daughter, helping her with all the health struggles her daughter endured.  It was her main purpose in life.  Gloria also cared for her husband, Joseph, for many years with his health issues.  She was such a strong person for all the caring she gave during her life.

Gloria was the matriarch of her large family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews who looked to her for guidance in life.  She will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory’s Church,2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Wednesday  August 1st  at 10:00 AM. Relative and friends invited.  Visiting hours in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Tuesday 4-8 pm. Interment Private.

 

Klebert Laurent

Klebert Laurent, age 82, passed away on July 11, 2018.

Klebert was preceded in death by his beloved wife Edith Laurent. Loving father of Erna Jean-Louis, Kerting Laurent, Solange Laurent, and Marie Klely Laurent.

Visitation will be held Friday, 27th of July, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Valley of Blessings Church.  The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 9:00 AM at Valley of Blessings Church. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery

Frank LaCambria

Frank LaCambria, of Milton, died Monday July 23, 2018. He was 100 years old.

Born and raised in Boston, he attended Boston Public Schools and entered the United States Army in 1941. A Purple Heart recipient, he was discharged in 1945 as a corporal. Frank joined the Boston Fire Department January 22, 1947 and served as a firefighter on Engine 10, Mount Vernon Street, Beacon Hill for 34 years.

Frank was a life member of Disabled American Veterans #79 of Quincy, St. Florian Society and member of International Assn. of Firefighters.

Beloved husband of the late Barbara Anne (Holub) LaCambria.  Frank is survived by nieces Camille LaCambria (John) Oliver, Cornelia Kelley (Luco LaCambria), Elizabeth Holub (Brian) Kauffmann and nephew Raymond A. Holub, III (Nancy) and several grandnieces and grandnephews.  He was preceeded in death by siblings Charlie LaCambria, Josephine LaCambria Sordello, Marie “Mary” LaCambria, Ralph LaCambria, and Antonio LaCambria and several beloved nieces and nephews.

George Ethernoy Fenton

It’s with great sadness we announce that on Wednesday July 18, 2018, George E. Fenton, father, and friend passed away suddenly at the age of 73.

George was the son of Priscilla Shiell nee Fenton   and Joseph Sweeney. George grew up in Montserrat, where he attended the St. John’s Primary school, and after the family moved to Plymouth, George attended the St. Mary’s Primary School. In 1960 George left Montserrat for England where he stayed for many years. While living in England George worked at a clothing factory and many other clothing companies. George then left England for New York in 1977 where he lived until he moved to Boston. While Living in Boston George worked as a carpenter, George soon opened his own Record shop. After several years living in Boston George decided to retire to Florida where he enjoyed the weather. George loved music, cooking, and family.

George will forever be remembered by his children Samantha, John, Sean, Kevin, George Jr, and Monique, his sisters and brothers Hilton, Cedric, Molly, Raymond, John, Elvira, Sylvia, Leslie, and the late Edlyn and Sylvan. George will also be remembered by his precious grandchildren, Amelia, Faith, Syaed, Nhyim, Jwahir, L’Oreal, Shantay, and Shaniya.

A funeral Service will be celebrated at the Greenwood Methodist church, 378 Washington Street, Dorchester, on Saturday August 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM. The viewing will be held from 9 am-10am at the church. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

John Michael Hughes

John Michael Hughes, 90, of Milton, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, July 23, 2018, surrounded by family.

Born on December 29, 1927 to Charles and Elizabeth Hughes. John was raised and educated in Boston. After graduating from Boston Latin School and Boston College, he embarked on a career in education.

John worked in the Boston Public Schools for more than forty years, including two decades as Principal of the Richard J. Murphy School in Dorchester. He enjoyed a second career as the Founding Headmaster of the Willauer School on Thompson Island in Boston and spent a decade as Adjunct Faculty at Simmons College School of Education.

He spoke multiple languages and taught Russian, German, French, Latin and Greek. He enjoyed painting and playing music, whether it be piano, organ or cello. Above all John’s greatest joy was his family.

Beloved husband of the late Barbara F. (Connolly) Hughes. Loving father of John M. of New York and David A. Hughes of Vermont. Cherished brother of the late Agnes Brackett, Jeanne E. and Charles J. Hughes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary of the Hills Church, Milton, Friday July 27 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited.  Interment Saint Joseph Cemetery.
