Priscilla Tasonis

Priscilla (Barrett) Tasonis, 78, of Bridgewater, formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Beloved mother of Lisa L. Tasonis. Loving grandmother of Liam M. and Conor J. Fitzpatrick. Sister of Paula Grimes and the late Joseph T. Barrett.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary of the Hills Church, Milton, Monday July 8 at 10:00 am. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Sunday, 3-7 pm. Interment Private.

Ida B. Goodman

Ida Bell (Jones) Goodman, born on August 12, 1934 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, was the eldest child of Milton Jones and Viola Frederick Jones. Ida received her primary and secondary education at Sacred Heart School in Lake Charles. Shortly after graduating from high school, she moved to Boston, MA. There, she met her beloved husband of 42 years, Guernsey L. Goodman, who preceded her in death.

Ida and Guernsey were the proud parents of four beautiful children, Patrick (Monica), Guernsey Jr. (Lolita), Janene, and Jeanette Goodman-James. Ida worked as a nursing assistant at The New England Medical Center for over 20 years. Throughout her time in Boston, Ida was a faithful member of the Holy Cathedral Church family. Ida became a supportive, devoted friend to many in her work place and church.

Ida was the epitome of a loving, caring grandmother. The delights of her life were her eight grandchildren, Larkin, Chelsea, Faith, Kenneth, Gideon, Peyton, Madison, and Avery. Christmas and birthday celebrations were her hallmark events.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Ida is survived by sisters, Mildred Richard, Marian Jones, and Shirley Jones-Turner. She was preceded in death by brothers Rubin Leroy (RL) Jones, and Milton Jones, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Saturday, July 6 at 10am. Visitation will be held in the church prior to the Mass at 9am. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.

Francis “Frank” X. Mahoney

Francis “Frank” Xavier Mahoney, 77, of Quincy passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Born in Quincy on January 31, 1942 to his loving parents, Francis and Helen (Landers) Mahoney.

As a young man Frank worked as a funeral director alongside his father. He later took over the family business before changing careers. Frank went on to work for the City of Boston for over 35years. At the time of his retirement he was a Senior Boston Housing Authority Agent responsible for of the 4 larger city owned public housing units.

Frank was an avid Corvette collector owning 3 different models and a longtime member of the South Shore Corvette Club.

He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality and friendliness.

Beloved son of the late Francis and Helen (Landers) Mahoney. Loving brother of Judy Gibson of Sarasota, Florida. Uncle of Scott Newcomb of Waltham and Elana Gallagher of Sarasota, Florida.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary’s Church, 115 Crescent Street, Quincy, Tuesday, July 16th at 10:00 AM, family and friends invited. Interment New Calvary Cemetery.

Marjorie A. McDonough

Marjorie A. (Sullivan) McDonough of Dorchester, Humarock, and Ft. Pierce, FL, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2019, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Daughter of the late Cornelius and Marjorie Sullivan. Beloved wife of David McDonough. Loving mother of Sheila McDonagh and her husband John of Scituate and Joseph McDonough of Atlanta, GA. Devoted grandmother of Shea Patrick, Stella Rose, and Finn Kevin McDonagh of Scituate. Dear sister of Thomas Sullivan of Dorchester, Maureen Cellucci and her late husband Stephen of Dorchester, Rita Alvarado and her husband Peter of Quincy, AnneMarie Daly and her husband Stephen of Plymouth, and the late John Sullivan, William Sullivan, and Patricia Sullivan. Loving aunt to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Marjorie was born and raised in Dorchester. She graduated from Dorchester High School and Catherine Laboure Nursing School. She went on to be head Nurse at the Carney Hospital and volunteered at the Marshfield Senior Center and in the St. Lucie County, Florida public school system.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mark’s Catholic Church, 1725 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester on Wednesday, July 3 at 10AM. Visiting hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE on Tuesday from 4-8PM. Interment at Blue Hills Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.

Nicholas P. Calos, I, (Ret. B.F.D.), of Milton, passed away June 27, 2019, at 83 years of age. Beloved husband of Christine C. (Adams) Calos. Beloved father of James J. Sullivan and his wife Leslie, of State College, PA, the late Paul C. Sullivan and his wife Suzanne, of Milton, Michael R. Sullivan of Dorchester, Joanne M. Peterson and her husband Terry of Maynard, John P. Calos of Milton, Benjamin A. Calos, and his wife Mary Lou of N. Reading, Nicholas P. Calos, II and his husband Jay Hargis, of NY, NY, Christopher E. Bridget (Mellett) O’Donnell, 93, of Quincy, passed away in her home on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

Beloved wife of the late Patrick J. O’Donnell. Loving mother of Ann M. Scalia and her husband Natale of Milton and Patricia J. O’Donnell of Quincy. Cherished grandmother of Mark Scalia and his wife Jennifer of Needham, Christina Scalia of Milton and Michael Scalia and his fiancé Rachel of South Boston. Great grandmother of Mason and Andrew Scalia. Sister of Nora Lydon of Plymouth, Colm Mellett, Margaret Mannion, Thomas Mellett all of Co. Galway, Ireland and the late Kathleen Mellett, Mary Grealish, Michael Mellett, John Mellett, Patrick Mellett and Ann Glennon.

David E. Sweeney

Sweeney, David E. of Quincy died after a brief illness on June 20, 2019.  Beloved husband of Lisa Sweeney (Anglin) of Quincy.  Devoted father of Meghan Sweeney of Quincy.  Brother of Alicia Sweeney of Mashpee, Michael Sweeney of Hanover and the late Donald, Kevin, Peter, Jeana Sweeney and Paula Lahey.  He is also loving survived by many extended family and friends.

David was born, raised and educated in Boston.  He was a dedicated Union Electrician and member of Local # 103 for over 30 years. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf and was an amazing cook who loved to entertain.  Most of all the love of his life was his wife and daughter who were the cornerstone of his life.  He will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday June 30, 2019 2PM-5PM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, East Milton Square.  A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday July 1, 2019  at 10:30am in Saint Mary Church, Crescent St. West Quincy. 

Ida Lois Johnson

Ida Johnson, 83, of Boston, passed away on June 21, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

If you know us, then you probably know this woman.  Loving sister, aunt, cousin, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother … you were always greeted with a smile & warm hug and never went hungry because you always had a seat at her dinner table.

Born in 1935 she used to share countless stories of growing up Jim Crow, learning to navigate life according to rules/conditions we couldn’t even dream of.  Expressing her feelings of finding hope in countless leaders Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, Malcolm X, Bobby Kennedy just to feel the heartbreak and disappointment of seeing all those lights prematurely extinguished.  She saw a lot in her nearly 84 years, everything from a man walking on the moon to the election of the first African American US President.  She was pure Class with a little bit of Sass and a whole bunch of Love.

Born and raised in Tennessee to the late Leander and Katie (Boddie) Wiggins.  Beloved mother of Don Johnson, Phyllis Johnson-Da Rocha, Judith Johnson, Katherine Blicker and Lori Mitchell. Loving grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Tuesday, June 25th from 4-8 PM.  Family and friends invited.  Interment Bethel Cemetery in Henning, Tennessee at a later date.

Robert F. Petchell

Robert F. Petchell, 63, of Milton, formerly of South Boston, passed away on June 18, 2019, after a courageous battle of declining health. Beloved husband of Melissa (Hamilton) Petchell with whom he shared over 35 years of marriage. Loving and devoted father of Nicholas and Corridon Petchell of Milton. Son of the late Robert and Marilyn (Sheehan) Petchell. Devoted grandson of Nana and Grandpa, the late John and Marion Sheehan of South Boston. Brother of Kathleen Dixon of Norton and the late Cynthia and Donald. Cherished son-in-law of Helen and the late Andrew Hamilton of Milton. Bob is also survived by his in laws Andrea (Paul) Endres of Dennis, Paul, Patricia and Maura Hamilton, Tracy (Arthur) Attaya and Sheila (Michael) LeBlanc all of Milton and predeceased by Mark (Christine) Hamilton. He leaves a large and extended family and many wonderful friends all of whom loved him dearly. The most important aspects of Bob’s life were his family and his friends who surrounded him with love. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Bob was a longtime friend of Bill W. A proud Veteran of the United States Navy. Bob was employed at UMass/Boston for nearly 30 years when he retired due to ill health.

Patricia G. Lloyd

Patricia G. Lloyd, age 72, of Revere, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019.  

Patricia, aka Pat, Tricia, was born and raised in the Neponset area of Boston, she attended St. Anne’s School, Mount Saint Joseph Academy and Graduated from Northeastern University.   Tricia retired from New England Telephone Company and afterword went back to work with Social Security Administration.  She enjoyed traveling around the world and had met many lasting friends throughout her travels.  Pat loved her condo life looking out onto the ocean, always felt like a vacation home.  She volunteered with the Revere Public schools for many years in assisting in the class room reading to the children and spoke of the kids so fondly.  Pat was an avid reader, loved giving recommendations of books, loved the Irish hour on Saturdays and her classical music.  She looked forward to celebrating social gatherings with friends and family, although always late! 

Patricia was the beloved daughter of the late Gerard J. and Winifred (Lennon) Lloyd.   Devoted sister of Gerard Lloyd and his wife Margaret of Milton, Carol McKenna and her husband Robert of Harwich, Winnie Horgan and her husband John of Milton, John ‘Jake’ Lloyd of Abington and his partner Diane Brugman and the late Teresa Lloyd.  Cherished Aunt of many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  Patricia also leaves behind her beloved cat, Pinto.
