Miracia Saintilus died peacefully, surrounded by her loving and care giving family at her home in Dorchester, Wednesday June 1, 2011. She was 88 years old. Born and raised in Haiti, she had owned a grocery store for many years before retiring and moving to Boston. Beloved mother of Wally Monestime of Mansfield, Odette Gerbier of Medford, Robert Monestime of Holbrook, Sylvanie Pierre-Louis of Montreal and Evens Monestime of Everett. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service at Boston Missionary Baptist Church, 336 Dudley Street, Roxbury, Saturday June 11 at 9:30 AM. Catherine M. (Casey) Angland

Catherine M. (Casey) Angland, of Milton, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Saturday June 4, 2011. Wife of the late David J. Angland, she was the mother of Robert D. Angland and Denise Angland Edinger, both of Milton; grandmother of Michelle Angland Cole of Hyannis, Michael D. Angland of Scituate, Christopher J. Angland of Peabody and David W. Edinger of Milton; great-grandmother of Robin Angland, George and Sean Cole and Owen and Sydney Angland; brother of the late Thomas F. Casey. Maria Fernandes, of Dorchester, died at home unexpectedly Thursday June 2, 2011. She was 90 years old. Wife of the late Amancio Lopes. Beloved mother of Augusto Lopes, Arthur Lopes, Daniel Lopes, Albert Lopes and Maria Lopes, all of Dorchester. Maris is survived by 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Josephine M. McAteer

Josephine M. McAteer of Milton, died June 3, 2011 at the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Home. Ms. McAteer was the former Town of Milton Accountant and also served as Treasurer of the Milton Council of Aging. She enjoyed spending time at her vacation  home in Biddeford, Maine. Beloved daughter of the late James B. and  Josephine E. ( Lydon ) McAteer. Loving aunt of Richard McAteer of N.H., Diane Duclos and her husband Mike of N.H. Martha McAteer of Virginia, Joyce Mackey of Falmouth, Pat Valentino and her husband Rudy of Milton and Kathleen McDonald of Brockton. Also survived by 15 grand nieces and nephews and 2 great grand nieces and her beloved cat, “Susie”. Susan A. (Whalen) Kelly

Susan A. (Whalen) Kelly, of Milton, died on May 27, 2011. She was the beloved wife of James O. Kelly. Loving mother of Jana O’Neil of Weymouth, Thomas Kelly, James Kelly and Liam Kelly, all of Milton. Daughter of Anne E. (Flaherty) Whalen of Milton. Ruth Gertrude (Taylor) McClenning

Ruth Gertrude (Taylor) McClenning, 89, a resident of The Virginian, Fairfax, Virginia passed into eternal life April 28,  2011  Ruth Gertrude was born  September 16, 1921 in Boston, Massachusetts to Eugene A. Taylor and Irene Genesee Taylor.  She was reared in Dorchester with her older sister Helen C. Taylor. After graduating from secretarial school Ruth moved to Washington D.C and was employed by the Department of the Navy.  Later she enrolled in specialty classes that prepared her to become a legal recorder working for Ward and Paul, until her retirement.  In Ruth’s professional life she was often requested to be the recorder for hearings and proceedings in the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.  Both Ruth and her husband Forest, had a passion for travel and adventure that took them to see the wonders of the world while visiting most countries during their years of marriage. Mrs. McClenning had many interest; first would be her cats Scrappy, Silky and Tawny.  She also enjoyed monthly train trips to New York to go to the opera where she held season tickets and seeing Broadway plays before she retired.  Even after retirement Ruth was busy keeping houses and entertaining, she loved to read, and was an ardent follower of movies from black and white thru the latest releases; between watching movies, T.V. and listening to a broad array of music, she followed current events and the political scene in the daily Washington papers, she remained vibrant and involved throughout her life. Ruth attended S. Leo’s Catholic Church in Fairfax, Virginia for over 30 years.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Catholic Church, Dorchester, Friday June 3 at 10:00 AM. Interment at Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.  Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Forest L. McClenning, her parents Eugene and Irene Taylor and her sister Helen C. Taylor. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made in Ruth’s memory to the charity of your choice.

Herbert H. Pekkinen

Herbert H. Pekkinen, a lifelong resident of Quincy, died at John Adams Nursing Home in Quincy on Friday, May 27, 2011. Born in Quincy and a graduate of Quincy High School, he entered the Merchant Marine and served for several years. Upon discharge from the Merchant Marine, he entered the carpentry field and worked on several construction sites around the South Shore. He also built his own home. He enjoyed fishing and canoeing on Herring Pond in Plymouth with his family. Husband of the late Elizabeth (McDonald), he was the loving father of Kathryn S. Shea of Milton, Stephen P. Pekkinen of Quincy, Karen M. Gilmore of Norfolk and David T. Pekkinen of Quincy. He was the brother of the late William Pekkinen. Herbert is survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren: Joseph James Gilmore and Kailey Mae Gilmore. Visiting hours and services are omitted. Alfred W. Ferrara

Alfred W. Ferrera, died in Milton, Wednesday May 25, 2011. He was 87 years old. Born in Boston, he grew up in Orient Heights and graduated from Arlington High School (1943) and Boston College (1951). Mr. Ferrera served in the United States Navy during World War II. He is the retired President and Treasurer of James Ferrera and Sons, a wholesale food distribution Company. An avid golfer, Al was a member of Quail Ridge Golf Club in Florida and Wollaston Golf Club, Milton. Beloved husband of the late Barbara (Fearon) Ferrera. Loving father of James J. and his wife Sue Ferrera of Milton. Dear grandfather of Alfred J., Joseph, James and Colin Ferrera. Brother of June Gibson of Canton and the late Lillian Antonelli, Arthur Ferrera, James Ferrera, Don Ferrera, Harold Ferrera and Walter Ferrera. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ann T. Murphy

Ann T. Murphy, of East Weymouth, died on May 26, 2011 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles “Chuck” Maloney.  Loving devoted older sister of Madeline Bartlett and her husband Bob of Hingham, Jeanne Bowes of Marshfield, Brenda Madden of Braintree, Judith Weston and her husband Jeffrey of Hull and the late Mary Girton. Stepmother of Daniel Maloney and Kate Conway and several grandchildren.  Ann is survived by several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and a special friend Edward Regan.  Prior to her retirement, Ann worked as a Nurse at Tufts-New England Medical Center for forty years and also at Hancock Nursing Home. She loved travelling, reading and her cat Marley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton on Wednesday, June 1 at 10:30AM.
