Euclides Baptista

Euclides Baptista, 67, after a long illness, passed away August 11,2012. Euclides immigrated to the United States from Cape Verde in 1987. He was a self-employed woodworker in his native country and a machinist in the Boston area. Euclides is survived by his wife Luisa Pereira Baptista,and 8 loving children, Jorge, Jose, Anastacio, Antonio, Euclides, Joaquim, Maria Correia, Joaquina and the late Kevin.  Brother of Jose, Antonio “Nho Nho”, Fatima and Maria “Nunuca”. Also survived by 2 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday in St.Patrick’s Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Edward J. O’Brien, of Milton suddenly August 11, 2012. Beloved husband of Paula A. Bonarrigo. Loving father of Sara O’Brien and husband Russ Cox of Cambridge, Alosha, Sam and Lily O’Brien all of Milton. Gertrude C. (Sullivan) Shields

Gertrude C. (Sullivan) Shields of Milton, Aug. 11, died in the Coyne Health Care Center  Nursing in Rockland. She was 86.  Gertrude was born in Boston and grew up in Mattapan and was active in St. Angela’s Parish.  She moved to Milton in1948.  She  was  a member of St. Mary of the Hills Parish and a member of the Women’s Club of the Church.  Gertrude worked in the medical records department of Carney Hospital for 30 years.  She was not also a long time volunteer at Milton Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Shields. Loving mother of John Michael Shields of Milton, Maryellen Morse of Norton, William F. Shields of Bradford, Elizabeth A. Harrington of E. Bridgewater, and the late Mark S. Shields and James M. Shields . Proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren. Sister of John Sullivan of Milton  Longtime employee of Carney Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at Saint Mary of the Hills Church, Milton Tues. Richard J. Connors

Richard J. Connors, a retired printer, of Dorchester, at Boston Medical Center, Monday August 6, 2012.  Beloved son of the late Gertrude M. (Murphy) and John B. Connors.  Loving brother of John J. Connors & his wife Nanci of Charlestown; Rosemary E. Connors of Newton; Elaine M. Connors-Cooker of Bristol, CT and the late Robert F. and Mary Ellen Connors.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Richard was a lifelong resident of Dorchester; A graduate of Don Bosco High School; Served his country for six years in the United States Army National Guard, during the Vietnam Era.  He had a successful career in the printing industry; Was a life member of the  James J. Rice Post #28; and a Honorary Member of the Knights of Columbus.  He loved music and the outdoors, especially the beach.  Richard also loved spending time with his family and friends.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Ann Church, 251 Neponset Avenue, Dorchester, Thursday, August 16 at 10:00 AM.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visitation at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Wednesday 5 – 8 PM.  Interment New Calvary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Richard may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Waltham, MA 02451.

Christine M. (Lyons) Kelley, of Milton, formerly of Dorchester and Mattapan, August 7, 2012. Beloved wife of 53 years of John F. Kelley. Devoted mother of Christine M. Tynan and her husband Steven of Milton, John J. Kelley and his wife Krisann of Marshfield and Marianne E. Pekrul and her husband Todd of Pembroke. Cherished Nannie of Sean and Kevin Kelley, Christopher, Colleen and Caitlin Pekrul and Lily Christine Tynan. Daughter of the late John J. and Marion C. Lyons, niece of the late Helen “Lullie” Barry, also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Ann E. White

Ann E. White, nursing and health care executive and long time Milton community activist, died Monday, August 6, 2012. She was 64.  Born in and raised in Worcester, she was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School, St Vincent Hospital School of Nursing, Northeastern University, and Boston University.  During her career, Ann held positions in various health care organizations in and around the Boston area, including Vice President for patient care services at the Dana Farber Cancer Center and at the Carney Hospital and most recently, a member of senior administration at the Joseph M. Smith Community Health Center in Allston.  Ann was very active in the Milton community serving as a town meeting member for many years, chair of the town personnel committee, and a board member at the Fuller Village Retirement community.  She enjoyed drawing, painting, poetry writing, and spending time in Provincetown.  She leaves her spouse and best friend Ann M. Hallett; her beloved children, Ana Christina White of Dorchester, Margaret “Maggie”  Hallett of Milton, and Abigail ” Abby ” White of Dorchester; and her two grandchildren, Maria Byrd and Robyn Wise-Harris.   She was the loving sister of Helen A. White of Washington, DC; Kathleen S. Murray of Worcester, Susan Saint John of West Palm Beach, FL; and Martha White Skogh of Brussels, Belgium and the late Andrew White.   Wonderful aunt to seven nieces and nephews. Mildred E. (Dubay) Smith, of Milton, age 92, August 5, 2012.  Beloved wife of the late Louis B. Smith. Devoted mother of Karen (Smith) Bowes and her husband Jack of Quincy and Jack Bernard Smith and his wife Jill of Maine.  Sister of the late  Dorothy Pickering, Robert T. Dubay and Edward Dubay, Jr., .  Grandmother of Jeanette Downing of Hanson, Carolyn Shields of RI, Justin and Emily Smith both of Maine. Great grandmother of Megan, Colin, Ryan, Addison, Liam and Owen. William J. Higgins

William J. Higgins, a retired contract negotiator, died at Massachusetts General Hospital, suddenly, Sunday August 5, 2012. He was 66 years old. Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, he was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy and attended Quincy College. Mr. Higgins retired from Parsons Engineering and had been employed by Stone and Webster Engineering for over 20 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Elaine R. (Riccio) Higgins. Devoted father of Neil D. Higgins and his wife Gina of Milton.  Loved grandfather of Ryan V. Higgins and John W. Higgins of Milton. Brother of Elaine Hynes and her husband Joseph of Westford and Alice Castaldini and her husband Paul of Holbrook. Brother-in-law of Nancy Riccio of Quincy and Vincent Riccio and his wife Kristina of Foxboro. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
