Elaine M. Riley

Elaine M. Riley,  a former pre-school teacher, died at her home in Canton, suddenly, Friday April 12, 2013. She was 65 years old. Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph P. and Sarah (Hagan) Riley. Elaine was raised in Quincy where she had lived for many years before moving to Norwood and then Canton. She was an active volunteer at Neponset River House in Norwood and The Salvation Army. Elaine was a great communicator, reaching out to people of all ages so that they knew someone cared about them. She was a great admirer of the Kennedy family and the Lennon Sisters. Elaine is survived by her close friend Victoria Shapiro, niece Ariel Joy Shapiro and many cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Wednesday April 17 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON, Wednesday 9:00 – 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Francis J. Brown

Brown, Francis J. “Brownie”, 87, of Milton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 10, 2013. Born to Francis J. Brown Sr. and Kathryn (Keenan) Brownie lived most of his life in Milton until he went into assisted living in Wayland. Brownie was predeceased by his wife Mary (Linehan), they leave behind their son Jim, his wife Dawn, and their three children Bryan, Kate, and Colin of Wayland, and their daughter Maryanne (Peterson), her husband Russell, and their two children Hannah and Joe of Westford. Brownie was an ex-Marine who saw heavy combat in WWII in the South Pacific. Returning home after the war he worked 45 years as a Pressman for newspapers in and around Boston before retiring from the Boston Globe in 1990. Brownie loved hunting, fishing, his dogs, as well as cooking and traveling especially with his friend of 80 years Bobby Sandblom of Milton. A special Thank You to Carlos and Roxanne Campos and to the staff at Sunrise of Wayland and to the caregivers of Hospice of the Good Shepherd,for all their loving care.

Virginia M. (Sullivan) Smith, of Milton, April 8, beloved wife of the late Edward J. Smith. Beloved mother of Pamela S. Hansen and her husband Donald of CA, Edward J. Smith and his wife Madelon of Milton and William T. Sullivan of FL. Sister of the late Elizabeth A. Woods, William T. Sullivan and Lawrence Sullivan. Philip J. Hennessy, Jr.

Philip J. Hennessy, Jr. of Milton  on April 7, 2013.  Devoted son of the late Philip J. and Agnes E. (McCarthy) Hennessy.  Brother of  John J. Hennessy and his wife Olive of Ocala, FL.  Survived by niece, Lisa Hennessy of FL and great nephews, Darrien and Kalon.  Also survived by cousins, Jane Belliveau and her husband William of Brookline, Susan Walsh of FL and Mary Reed and her husband Jake of Stoughton and close friend,  James Coleman.  A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 12 at  2 PM, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON.  Relatives and friends invited to attend.  Interment  Mass National Cemetery, Bourne  will be private.   In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The  Boston Elks #10, 1 Morrell St. West Roxbury, MA 02123.  Late Korean War, US Army veteran.  Late past Exalted Ruler, Boston Lodge # 10. 

Jose L. Barbosa

Jose Barbosa, 61, of Boston, passed away April 8th, 2013. Beloved husband of Maria Barbosa. Devoted father of Severino Barbosa, Lisa Barbosa, John Barbosa, Rinardo Barbosa, Neluza Barbosa, Marcelina Barbosa, Oceano Barbosa, Jose Barbosa, and Tete Barbosa. Grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also survived by nine brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, Roxbury, on Thursday, April 11th at 10 o’clock. John Dunston Jr.

John Dunston Jr., of Mattapan, a retired machine operator, died at Tufts Medical Center, Friday March 29, 2013.  He was 69 years old. Father of Patricia Winbush, Darin Scott, Ronald Dunston and Shawn Mendenhall. Brother of Dorothy Dunston, Melvin Russell, Ida McAffee, Lucy Russell, Annie Ablorh, Bernice Watkins, William Russell, Barbara Williams, Otis Dunston and Vivian Corbett. John is also survived by four grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces nephews and friends. Mary McSharry, 79, of Milton, March 31, 2013. Wife of the late Thomas P. McSharry. Loving mother of the late Thomas P.
