Mary Frances (Connolly) Hartnett

Mary Frances (Connolly) Hartnett, of Milton, November 23, 2013. Beloved wife of the late George J. Hartnett. Devoted mother of George D. Hartnett of Lake Forest, IL, Richard F. Hartnett of West Wareham and Mary Elizabeth (Hartnett) Pattavina of Stoughton.  Sister of Rita (Connolly) Atchison of Quincy.  Mary is also survived by eight grandchildren.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth’s Church, Milton, Saturday November 30 at 9:30 am.  Interment was in Milton Cemetery. Thomas Howard Ochs

Thomas Howard Ochs, 70, of Sanbornton, NH, passed away at Mountain Ridge Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 with his loving wife by his side due to injuries sustained in an accident. Born in Boston, MA, on September 22, 1943, he was the son of Howard and Marion (MacKinnon) Ochs. Thomas was raised in Quincy, MA attending local schools. He furthered his education by earning an Associate’s Degree from the Wentworth Institute of Electrical Engineering, in Boston and also attended Northeastern University. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Thomas loved snowmobiling and playing volleyball. He was also a talented gymnast. He had a successful forty plus year career with Grass Instrument Co., working at both the Braintree and Rockland, MA plants. He was a resident of Weymouth, MA for thirty one years, raising his family there before retiring with his wife to the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Thomas spent many summers growing on Bear Island, Lake Winnipesaukee. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Lillian R. (Chiano) Ochs, of Sanbornton; daughter, Julie Dempsey and husband Ryan, of Norfolk, MA; grandsons, Zachary and Nathan Holmes, both of Norfolk, MA; sister, Janet Ochs, of Quincy, MA; sister-in-law, Maria Martell, of Bourne, MA. Donations may be made in his memory to the: Brain Injury Association of America P.O. Born January 13, 1931 in Milton, MA. Daughter of the late Frank and Alice Hannigan. Mother to Lisa McSharry of Windsor, CT., Anne Waite of Morristown, NJ her husband Edward, Patrick McSharry of Westport, CT., Kathleen Friday of Chatham, NJ her husband Richard, Christopher McSharry of Hyannis, MA, Michael McSharry of Monroe,CT and James McSharry of Portsmouth, NH. Sister of Sr. Anne Michael, SND of Dedham and the late Francis Hannigan, Ann Sheehan, John Hannigan and James Michael Hannigan, Grandmother of Judson and Connor Waite, Julia M. McSharry, Katherine and Jack Friday, Mark and Dennis McSharry. Katherine was a graduate of Milton High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She was a homemaker caring for 7 children. Katherine loved decorating and entertaining friends and family on the Cape. She was an active member of Our Lady of The Cape Church when in East Dennis and loved Mass when in Milton with her sisters and best friend. John W. Balboni

John W. Balboni, 79, passed away at Sunrise Senior Center, in Braintree, Massachusetts, Friday November 29, 2013. He was born on August 2, 1934 in Hartford, Connecticut to John and Josephine (Pontacoloni) Balboni. John grew up in Glastonbury, CT. He graduated in 1953 from Glastonbury, High School where he was an active student council member and avid soccer player. After high school he attended University of Hartford Hillyer College where he continued playing soccer and graduated in 1957. John’s working career was dedicated to The Hartford Insurance Company where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. John married Joyce Goode of Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts in 1964. They were happily married for 42 years until her passing in 2006. They lived in Glastonbury, CT where they raised their four children until The Hartford moved John to New York City to work at Thompson Mckinnon Securities Inc. The couple moved to Murray Hill, NJ until 1988 when John was transferred back to Hartford where they resided in West Hartford until John retired in 1999 and he and Joyce moved to their summer home on Martha’s Vineyard. Together they enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home, traveling, visiting with friends near and far, visiting with their children and being grandparents to their ten grandchildren.
John is survived by his four children Jessica and (Milton) Gonzalez of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Jon and (Brenda) Balboni,of Springfield, New Jersey; Jennifer and (Brian) Tracey of Dorchester, Massachusetts; Jason Balboni of Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Christine and Grace Gonzalez, John, Joseph, Amanda and Victoria Balboni, Alison, Sarah and Erin Tracey, Colby Balboni; his step-grandchildren Devin and Eva Balboni; his sister Joyce (Balboni) McDonald and nieces and nephews and other relatives. A visitation will be held at Dolan and Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Ave.,  MILTON VILLAGE from 12-2 pm Friday, December 6, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 22 Massasoit Ave., Oak Bluffs, MA at 9:00 am Saturday, December 7, 2013. Virginia F. (McViney) Hourihan

Virginia F.  (McViney) Hourihan, age 93, of Quincy, passed away on December 3, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was a DEVOTED homemaker and the family matriarch, keeping the extended family up-to-date on everyone. She was born in Cambridge and lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Quincy 46 years ago. She was the daughter of Penelope and Francis J. McViney. Wife of the late Joseph L. Hourihan, she is survived by three sons, Joseph of Ringgold, GA, Dennis and his wife Jo-Anne of Marshfield, Kevin and his wife Vinette of Marshfield and a daughter, Nancy of Quincy; six grandchildren, Ryan and his wife Tara of Pink Hill, NC, Craig, Corey, Olivia and Sophia of Marshfield and Carrie Stack of Lynn; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Matthew of Pink Hill, NC. She was also the sister of Dorothy Ready of Somerset and the late Paul McViney, Ruth Christiano and Albert McViney. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock Street, Quincy, Saturday December 7 at 11:15 AM.
