Dennis Corbett

Dennis Corbett, age 74, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 18, 2020 after suffering from complications related to cancer.

A lifelong resident of Dorchester, Dennis was the eldest of nine children born to Patrick and Mary Corbett.  Dennis was a devoted brother to Julie Corbett of Dorchester, John Corbett of WA, Kevin Corbett of TX, Patrick Corbett of Brockton, Mary Nipper of NC, Teresa Jimenez of Braintree, Brian Corbett of NH and Kate Casanova of Braintree (predeceased).  Dennis was a cherished uncle to his 19 nephews and nieces and a loving Godfather to Anthony Littlefield of Quincy.

Dennis always believed in service, a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era, that service continued later to the City of Boston.  Dennis retired as a Lieutenant from Boston Fire Alarm in August of 2013 after 30 years of dedicated service.  A true New Englander, Dennis loved to spend his time in the mountains of NH and on the beaches of Cape Cod.  Dennis was an avid reader, but his true passion was anything related to the Fire Department, as evidenced by his extensive collection of fire memorabilia.

Visitation at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE Tuesday July 21, 4-7 PM.  Due to current pandemic protocols for large gatherings, the Funeral Mass will be private.  Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Dorothy Ann Sacchetti

Dorothy Ann (Danubio) “Dot” Sacchetti passed away peacefully at age 90, Thursday July 16, 2020.

Dot was born on April 5, 1930 in Weymouth, MA. She graduated from Weymouth High School and worked as a secretary at General Dynamics. After marriage Dot and Anthony made their home in Quincy, where they raised their eight children. Dot worked alongside her husband for more than 25 years owning and operating their plumbing and bath retail business.

Her talents were many, but Dot loved to cook and bake and was amazing at both. She was an active member of the St. Boniface church community where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, raised funds to build a hospital in Haiti and traveled to Israel. Dot loved her European cruises with close friends, family vacations on Hampton Beach and annual trips to Aruba. Dot was known for her kindness, loving personality and immense devotion to her faith and family.

Preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony, her parents Rose and Enrico Danubio and 6 siblings. She is survived by her children Anthony and his wife Cheryl, Sandy and her husband Doug, Steve and his wife Peggy, Cheryle and her husband Mike, Michele and her husband Mike, Lisa and her husband Bob, Mike and his wife Cindy and David and his wife Linda, along with 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one more on the way as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth, Tuesday July 21. Interment Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

John Kevin Sullivan

John Kevin Sullivan, of Dorchester passed away on July 15, 2020.

Beloved husband of the late Susan (Cantara) Sullivan.  Loving father of Matthew Sullivan and his fiancé Kailyn Moore of Dorchester.  Brother of Cornelius J. Sullivan and his wife Brenda of Dorchester and the late Joseph F. Sullivan and Mary H. Dolan.  Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.

John was born, raised and educated in Boston.  He was a graduate of Bentley University.  John worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 20 years at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Mattapan as an accountant.  He was an active parishioner, lector, eucharistic minister and CCD teacher at Saint Gregory Church.   John is remembered by his family as a private man who always put his family first.  He was especially happy to share in the joy and be present at the engagement of his son Matt and his fiancé Kailyn on this past Saturday. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known and loved him.

Visiting hours on Monday 9:00am-11:00am in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS.  Funeral Mass and interment are private.

John J. Puleo (Det. Sgt. BPD, Ret.)

Beloved husband of the late Mary T. (Killilea) Puleo. Loving father of Sr. Marie T. Puleo MFIC of Rome and Newton, Kathleen A. Coughlin and her husband Michael of Dorchester and the late John J. Puleo Jr. and his surviving wife Lorraine of Braintree. Grandfather of Nicholas Puleo, Matthew Puleo, James Coughlin, Joseph Coughlin and Mary Coughlin. Great-grandfather of Sam, Maeve, and Marshall Puleo. Brother of Ann Mazzone of Dorchester and the late Carmello Brillo and Rose Strack.

Visitation at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE Saturday July 18, 8:15 – 9:15 am. Funeral Mass private. Interment Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

After leaving the Navy in 1951, He became a member of the Boston Police Department from 1951 to1995. He was most proud to have been part of the Tactical Patrol Force and Mobile Operations.  As a lieutenant in Mobile Operations he was among a group of superior officers recognized by the Provost Marshal of the Army for his “professionalism and exceptional leadership which contributed significantly to the efficient accomplishment of the Army mission in the Boston area”.

Joseph Mazzone

Joseph Mazzone, of Dorchester, died at home, surrounded by family, Monday July 13, 2020.

Joe will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Born in Pennsylvania, Joe grew up in Naples, Italy. He returned to the USA as a young man where he met Ann, the love of his life. They raised six children in Dorchester, MA, where he was known for his beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Anyone who knew Joe knew of his silly sense of humor, love of yellow roses, and red wine. Born on the fourth of July, Joe was most proud of being a US citizen. He loved the USA and displayed his flag with pride.

Beloved husband of Ann Marie (Puleo) Mazzone. Loving father of Joanne Paul of Bridgewater, Michael Mazzone of Houston, TX, Theresa Dickey of Scituate, Maryann Mazzone of Dorchester and Annmarie Scarlata of Braintree. Grandfather of eleven and great grandfather of two.  Brother of Diomede Mazzone of Italy and the late Theresa and Sandra.

Visitation, Mass of Christian Burial and interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery are private.

R. Mike Sugrue

R. Mike Sugrue, of Weymouth, July 11, 2020.

Beloved husband of 45 years of Pauline (Lunny) Sugrue.  Devoted father of Maura Doyle and her husband John of Weymouth and Tim Sugrue and his wife Hillary of Millis.  Grandfather of Norah Sugrue, Aidan Sugrue and Patrick Sugrue all of Millis, John Henry Doyle and Michael Doyle both of Weymouth. Brother of Barbara Boudreau, Joan Sullivan, Ed Sugrue, Walter Sugrue and the late Eleanor Hennessey and Daniel Sugrue. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Francis J. “Bucko” Finerty III

Francis Joseph “Bucko” Finerty III, of Rockland, formerly of Braintree and Milton, passed away Thursday July 9, 2020. He was 78 years old.

Born in Quincy, he was raised in Milton and graduated from Milton High School with the Class of 1960 and Northeastern University Class of 1966. Bucko was actively involved in both school communities throughout his life. He was the Milton High School Reunion Committee Chairman and Coordinator of the Mystery Man Dinner. At Northeastern University, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the hockey team, ran the 50/50 Raffle at home games and was an organizer for many Frozen Four hockey trips.

An avid boater, Bucko was a lifetime member and past Commodore of the Milton Yacht Club, member of the Port Norfolk Yacht Club and co-manager of the Tiki Bar.

Beloved husband of Linda C. “Honeypups” (Dolan) Finerty. Loving father of Kristen Finerty Child and her husband Brian of Marshfield and Sean Finerty and his wife Heather of Rockland. Papa to Madison Child, Patrick Child, Andrew Finerty, Elyse Finerty and Ryan Finerty. Brother of Joyce Finerty of West Yarmouth.

Karen Rey

Karen Rey of Brockton, passed away on Tuesday, June 30 2020 at the age of 39.

Beloved daughter of Kathleen (Lake) Rey and the late Carl Rey. Karen leaves behind many relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Saturday, July 11 at 11:30am. Visitation will be held from 11-11:30am. Interment private.

Yvonne E. Holbrook

Yvonne Elizabeth (Theriault) Holbrook died at Jeanne Jugan Residence, Somerville, Wednesday June 24, 2020. She was 92 years old.

Born and raised in South Boston, she was a graduate of Gate of Heaven School and raised her beloved family in South Boston. Yvonne was an editorial assistant for G.K. Hall Publishing, retiring in 1993. In 1998 she moved to the North End of Boston.  Always inquisitive and eager to learn, she enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Spain, Morocco and Israel. Yvonne’s Catholic faith was an important part of her life. She was a Third Order Franciscan and a communicant of Saint Anthony Shrine and Saint Leonard’s Church. Yvonne moved to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence, in 2010.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Holbrook Jr, and her brothers, George Theriault and Joseph Theriault. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Theriault, four children; Janet (Holbrook) McIndewar of Pensacola, FL, Norman “Rawd” Holbrook III of Medford and his partner Denise MacDonald, Steven Holbrook of RI and his wife Paulette, Lisa (Holbrook) Lungo of Pittsfield and her partner Drew Finn; four grandchildren: Elizabeth (Holbrook) Subasic, Tristan Holbrook, Kylie McIndewar and Leith McIndewar; a great granddaughter, Una Subasic and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Gate of Heaven Church and interment will follow in New Calvary Cemetery.

Yvonne enjoyed her time at Jeanne Jugan and took great comfort in the tender loving care given by the Little Sisters. 

Donations can be made, in Yvonne’s memory, to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville, MA 02143.

Joseph Francis Chase

Joseph Francis Chase, died at his residence in Hyde Park, attended by his friends and the hospice community. He was 68 years old.

Joe was a longtime kitchen helper at the former Donovan’s Tavern in Dorchester Lower Mills.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester.
