Tino A. “Tim” Spatola

Spatola, Tino 001Tino Anthony “Tim” Spatola, of Milton and Vero Beach, FL, 92 years young, died at his home in Milton, Tuesday November 10, 2015.

Beloved husband of the late Frances C. (Smith) Spatola. Loving father of Michael A. Spatola and his wife Patti of Hingham, Margaret T. Wilesmith of Palm Beach, FL, John F. Spatola and his wife Jane of Milton and Mary E. McCourt and her husband Gary of Milton. Brother of Rita Spatola of Siracusa, Sicily and his “bro” John Spatola of Brockton. Tim is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, Reedsdale Road at Randolph Avenue, Milton, Saturday November 14 at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON, Friday 4-8 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.

Tim was the founder and President T.A. Spatola Co. Inc. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corps and graduate of Boston College, Class of 1944.

An active community member, he was Past President Catholic Alumni Sodality of Boston, longtime member and past director and officer of Wollaston Golf Club, former member Marshfield Country Club and Past President Milton American Pee Wee League.

Stefano LoCoco

LoCoco, Stefano of Pembroke  formerly of Dorchester died November 5, 2015 after a brief illness.  Beloved brother of Rosalia Cefalu  and Maria G. Nigro  both of Milton, Ignazio LoCoco of Needham, Salvatore LoCoco of Medford, Pietro LoCoco, Maria Antonia LoCoco and Angela LoCoco all of Italy and the late Nicolo and Giovanni LoCoco.  Partner of 50 years of the late Rafaela  LouiseConti.  Stefano was a cherished uncle  to  many  nieces and nephews.

Stefano was born to Giuseppe LoCoco and Maria Rosa (Sanfilippo) LoCoco on November 21, 1941 in Porticello (Palermo) Sicily, Italy.  He was a graduate of the Technical School in Palermo.   Stefano was a self employed businessman in the real estate industry for many years before  his retirement.  He  enjoyed  spending  time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews  who were truly the cornerstone of his life.  He will be missed by all those  who had the pleasure to have known and loved him.

Marilyn J. Hill Burrell

Marilyn J. Hill Burrell Of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at age 81.  Born in Boston on August 7, 1934, Marilyn was the daughter of William J. Hill, Jr. and Marjorie A. (Hemingway) Hill.  She attended Boston Public Schools and retired from the student services/financial aid department at UMass Boston.  Predeceased by her brother, William J. Hill and sister, Evelyn Kathleen Hill, Marilyn is survived by her brother, Robin Hemingway, and sister, Thelma M. Hill.  She was the beloved mother of Wanita Burrell Boyar of Halifax, Marjorie Burrell Ellis and her husband Matthew of Columbus, Ohio;  Stanley J. Burrell III and his wife Mary Anne of Brockton; and Marchelle  Burrell O’Grady and her husband  John of Columbus, Ohio.  Marilyn was Grammy to T. William Ellis, Tristan Burrell, Benjamin Ellis, Alexander Burrell, Matthew Burrell, Jason Boyar, Alice O’Grady, Jack O’Grady, and Jordan Burrell.  She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Stanley J. Burrell, Jr. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 7 at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. LOWER MILLS, at 10AM. Visitation will be held from 9-10AM. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Kathryn Kelly Murphy

Murphy, Kathy 2 for website only 2nd versionKathy Kelly Murphy of Dorchester, and Fountain Hills AZ.   Kathy was called to heaven on Monday Nov.2, All Souls day. Kathy is survived by her mother Florence Kelly and the late Paul Kelly of Dorchester, sister of Janice Duval and her husband Robert of New Bedford, John Kelly and his wife Michelle of Weymouth, Anne Flaherty and her husband Joseph of Marshfield, and Eileen Foscaldo and her husband David of Foxboro.  Kathy was an amazing aunt to Kelly, Katie, Brendan, Julianne, Caroline, Shannon, Olivia and Jack. She is also survived by many cousins and hundreds of loving friends.

Kathy was an avid Boston sports fan!  Although she lived in Arizona, her love for Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox was unfounded. She enjoyed her daily 5 mile walk through the hot deserts of Scottsdale always wearing one of her Red Sox hats to keep from sun burning.   Taking in the AAA baseball games with her “work friends”, and bowling with the gang in AZ.  Most importantly Her long time love the Kansas City Royals finally won the world series… She was energetic, and sassy, never losing her “Dorchester Edge”, and always thought of others before herself.   Kathy’s love of family and friends gave her life meaning.  Her brother and sisters and nieces and nephews filled her life with love,  She was most proud of her lifelong friendship with grade school friends, Vida, Annette, Meg, and Debbie, and her Arizona friends Diana, Nancy, Joshua, and Rene and many more.   She will be missed immensely. . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Gregory’s Church, DORCHESTER on Fri., Nov. 6, at  9 o’clock. Joan C. (Sullivan) Dolan, a lifelong resident of Milton, MA passed away on October 31, 2015 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of Judge James W. Dolan for 53 years, cherished mother of daughter Christine Plouffe and her husband Dean of Braintree, daughter Barbara Connly and her husband Gregory of North Easton, daughter Jennifer Dodge and her husband Moore of Braintree, daughter Colleen Fitzgerald and her husband James of West Roxbury, son James Dolan and his wife Meghan of Tampa, FL. Devoted Nana of Connor and Abigail Plouffe, Caroline, Aidan and Veronica Connly, Nicholas and Alexandra Dodge, Nathan and Andrew Fitzgerald. Beloved youngest sister of Patricia Rowe of NY, Mary Good of Milton, Kathleen Downing of CA and the late Geraldine Kendrick and John Owen Sullivan. She was the daughter of the late Gerald and Amelia Sullivan of Milton, MA. Joan lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. She spent many years working as a nurse at the former Quincy City Hospital and later as a health careers teacher at Dorchester High School. Sister Mary Laurana Lernihan mfic, of Newton, a beloved member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception for 77 years, died at Saint Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, Thursday October 29, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Ellen Mary (Murphy) Lernihan. Sister was preceded in death by her twin sister Hanna Dinneen and siblings Sr. Ruth Lernihan OP, Helen Howick, Fr. William Lernihan, Patrick Lernihan, Michael Lernihan and Brid Galligan. She is survived by her sisters Lucy Brady, Clare O’Connell and her husband Padraig, Ann Wilson, sister-in-law Margaret Lernihan and her brother Thomas Lernihan and his wife Mina and several nieces and nephews and her Missionary Franciscan Sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel at Mount Alvernia Convent, 790 Centre Street, Newton MA 02458 Wednesday November 4 at 10:00 AM. Visitation in the Chapel beginning at 8:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA. A life-long teacher, Sr. Mary Laurana’s ministries included Mount Alvernia Academy in Chestnut Hill and many years in Egypt, Pennsylvania and Georgia, prior to retirement in 2000. Margaret “Peggy” (Flynn) Miller

Margaret “Peggy” (Flynn) Miller, of Englewood, Florida formerly of Milton, died October 21, 2015. Wife of the late James E. Miller. Peggy was born in Brighton, Massachusetts on April 11, 1927 to John J. and Margaret M. (O’Connell) Flynn. She was the sister of the late Sister Elinor Rose SND, Anne Marie McDonald, Edmond Flynn, Catherine Nichols, John Flynn and Mary (Rita) Flynn. Peggy lso leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She will be sorely missed by all. Prior to her retirement Peggy worked for over 40 years as secretary to the Board of Directors at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). She was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Englewood, Florida, The Englewood Elk Doe’s, Helping Hands as well as many other organizations and charities. Peggy loved life and lived exactly how she wanted to. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Saturday, October 31 at 10:30am. FLANAGAN, Ruth, A (Murphy) of Chevy Chase, MD, formerly Milton, MA and Centerville, MA, October 20, 2015, age 88. Beloved wife of Joseph V. Flanagan (deceased). She is survived by her son Mark D. Flanagan and his wife Laurie (Gamble) of Sudbury, MA; her daughter Susan A. Flanagan of Washington, DC; her son Stephen G. Flanagan and his wife Karen (Dix) of Wilton, CT; and her daughter Kathleen L. Flanagan and her husband Larry L. Orr of Chevy Chase, MD; as well as her seven grandchildren: Kathryn (Flanagan) Espinal and husband Rich; Connor M. Flanagan; Matthew D. Flanagan; Brooke H. Flanagan; Lindsey E. Flanagan; Elizabeth C. Orr and Natalie R. Orr and two great grandsons: Leonel and Callan Espinal. She was the sister of the late David L. Murphy, Robert P. Murphy, Charles P. Murphy, Suzanne McKeown and  Philip T. Murphy. Ruth was a nurse educator and graduate of Milton High School and New England Hospital for Women and Children and she attended Boston College School of Nursing. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved Syracuse University football, basketball & lacrosse and the Washington Nationals. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at St. Agatha’s Church in Milton, MA at 10:30 am.   The interment will follow at the Milton Cemetery. Family and friends are invited. Ansello, Kathleen M (Manos). of Plymouth formerly of Easton, died October 23, 2015.  Beloved wife of the late Louis A. Ansello.  Loving mother of Dr. Alan  Ansello  and his wife Jean of Plymouth. Cherished grandmother  of Dr. Dawn Ansello and her companion Ivan Ndanga of Ipswich.  Great grandmother  of Jordan and Maya Ndanga both of Ipswich.  Sister of Charles Manos of Peabody and the late   Aristedes  N. Manos, Eleanor Lee and Florence Richards.  Kathleen was also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen is remembered by her family as a vibrant woman with a remarkable zest for life.  She enjoyed her  time at Laurelwood where she embraced the entire community with her personality and her love of people.   Most of all Kathleen loved her family who were truly the cornerstone of her life.  She will be missed by all those had the pleasure to have known and loved her.

A funeral service will be held in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS,  Saturday October 31, 2015 at 11AM.  Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.  Visitation will b e held from 10-11AM prior to the Funeral.
