Alice P. “Pat” Callahan

Callahan, Alice P. “Pat” (Murphy) of West. Dennis formerly of Scituate, died January 1, 2016.  Beloved wife of the late   Francis P. Callahan.  Loving  mother  of Patricia “Trish” Mahoney and her husband Robert of Hanover, John F. Callahan of Medfield and Brian Callahan and his wife Susie of Huntington, NY.  Sister of Carole Murphy of Norwell, Nancy Fehrm   of  Harwichport,  Brenda Sullivan of Sandwich and the late Joseph Murphy. Cherished grandmother   of Erin, Patrick, Colleen, Jacquelyn, Patrick, Andrew and Timothy.

Pat was born in Boston and raised in Dorchester.   She was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School class of 1953.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, music, knitting and spending time on the Beach in West Dennis.  Most importantly Pat loved  her  family who were the cornerstone of her life.  She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known her.

A  Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Wednesday  January  6, 2015 at 10:30AM.  Relatives and friends invited. Marie Sayola (Codio) Jean

Marie Sayola (Codio) Jean, 69 , formerly of Dorchester, of Brockton December 19, 2015. Born in Haiti, Marie immigrated to the United States in 2003 and settled in Dorchester. In early 2011 Marie moved with her family to Brockton.

Marie is survived by her husband Michel Jean, daughters Renette Odije and husband Paul, Yves Michelle Jean, Gerda Jean Demeus and husband Evans, Melida Jean and and son Bachemy Jean and wife Paulina. Also survived by 7 grandchildren.

Callahan – Marie (Geanacopoulos), of Dorchester, died at Helenic Center, Canton, Monday December 28, 2015.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Callahan. Loving mother of Joseph W. Callahan and his wife Sheila and the late Jeanne Ilteris and her husband Edward. Grandmother of Michael, Stephen, Daniel, Alena, Matthew and Luke Ilteris, Catherine Callahan and the late Jennifer Ilteris. Great-grandmother of Liam, Elsa Jeanne, Quinn, Ella Jeanne, Ben and Harper Jeanne and Xue Xun Thang. Sister of the late Thomas and Nicholas Geanacopoulos. Marie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Rudy Dormitzer

Rudy Dormitzer, 38, formerly of Milton, passed away on December 25, 2015.  Born November 21, 1977, Rudy leaves behind his mother Madeleine Dormitzer, his sister Kristen and her husband Scott and their son Jackson, his father Gregory Dormitzer, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rudy was gifted in many ways and from an early age displayed a love and talent for music, especially the piano.  He will be remembered for his unique perspective on the world that manifested itself in his independent spirit, his sense of humor, and his passion for interests that included the welfare of animals and people less fortunate than he.  More recently his goal had been to climb the 7 highest mountains in the world of which he had completed two: Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Elbrus.  Rudy has now climbed his final mountain.

Warren F. Averill

Warren F. Averill, of Milton, died after a period of failing health, Wednesday December 23, 2015.

Born in Watertown, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and graduated from Boston University and received his Master’s degree in Chemistry from Simmons College. He retired after over 30 years of teaching at Northeastern University. Mr. Averill enjoyed sailing his boat in Osterville and following his grandchildren’s sports teams.

Beloved husband of the late Mary T. (Devine) Averill. Loving father of Mark F. Averill and his wife Mary V. of VA, Diane M. Cempellin and her husband Peter L. of Dover, Gerard W. Averill of CA and Lynn Ann Averill and her husband Peter Gravallese of Milton. Devoted Papa of Sean, Nicole and Colin Averill, Laura and Andrew Cempellin and Grant, Ian and Max Gravallese. Brother of Robert Averill and his wife Claire of Falmouth, Beverly Gelezinis of FL and the late Victor Averill.

Ronald L. “Butch” Venis

Venis, Ronald Butch for website onlyRonald L. “Butch” Venis, died peacefully at the age of 80 while surrounded by his loving family December 21, 2015 after a courageous 4 1Ž2 year battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

He was born in Boston and a longtime resident of Dorchester. He worked as a plumber in the Cambridge area for 48 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially loved the Red Sox. He enjoyed spending time summering on Cape Cod in Pocasset with his children and grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Madeline (Druzdis) Venis for 49 magical years. Loving father of Andrew and Jennifer of Chestnut Hill, Dan and Stacy of Stoughton, Rick of Maynard and Suzy and Dennis Kenny of Easton. He was the very proud Papa of Olivia Venis, Madeline and Claire Kenny and Bree and Tristan Venis. Brother of Carol Huggan of Groveland and the Late Jerome Venis of South Boston and special cousin to Debbie Venis of South Boston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

William E. Haynes

William E. Haynes died after a brief illness Tuesday December 22, 2015.

Born in Boston and raised in Milton, he was a graduate of Milton High School , College of the Holy Cross and received his Masters Degree in Science and Geophysics from Boston College. Mr. Haynes served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He retired from Exxon Mobil as a Mechanical Facility Engineer. Mr. Haynes was a member of the Milton Yacht Club, where he enjoyed spending time and taught CCD at Saint Elizabeth Church for over 20 years.

Beloved husband of Nancy T. (Flynn) Haynes. Loving father of Elizabeth Sellers and her husband Scott of Wakefield, Maggie Clark and her husband Mike of Milton, Rebekah Sadr and her husband Patrick of Plymouth and William Haynes and his wife Allison of Standish, ME. Grandfather of Dylan, Noah, and Sydney Sellers, Jack, Benjamin, Caroline, Charlie and Henry Clark and Cecelia and Matthew Sadr. Brother of Katherine and her husband Dr. Jim Dunphy of Milton, Mary Lou and her husband Tom Kuhlman of Omaha, Neb., Martha and her husband Richard Giovenelli of Ithaca, NY and Christopher and his wife Martha Haynes of RI.

Ernest A. Durant Jr.

Durant, ErnestErnest A. “Ernie” Durant Jr., a retired assistant produce manager for Roche Bros, died at his home in Hyde Park, Sunday December 20, 2015.

Born in Woburn, he was raised in the South End of Boston and attended Brandeis Vocational High School, Boston. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Hugh Purvis, DD 709, during World War II. Mr. Durant lived in Dorchester prior to moving to Hyde Park.

 

Beloved husband of the late Helen (Maloney) Durant. Loving father of Michael Durant (BPD) and his wife Annmarie of West Roxbury and Sean Durant (MSP) and his wife DawnMarie of Braintree. Grandfather of Mary, Sarah, Lauren, Shannon, Colleen and Kylie Durant. Brother of Thelma DiCostanzo of Carver and the late Andrew Durant and Lorraine Baum.
