Ronald L. “Butch” Venis
Ronald L. “Butch” Venis, died peacefully at the age of 80 while surrounded by his loving family December 21, 2015 after a courageous 4 1Ž2 year battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
He was born in Boston and a longtime resident of Dorchester. He worked as a plumber in the Cambridge area for 48 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially loved the Red Sox. He enjoyed spending time summering on Cape Cod in Pocasset with his children and grandchildren.
Beloved husband of Madeline (Druzdis) Venis for 49 magical years. Loving father of Andrew and Jennifer of Chestnut Hill, Dan and Stacy of Stoughton, Rick of Maynard and Suzy and Dennis Kenny of Easton. He was the very proud Papa of Olivia Venis, Madeline and Claire Kenny and Bree and Tristan Venis. Brother of Carol Huggan of Groveland and the Late Jerome Venis of South Boston and special cousin to Debbie Venis of South Boston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory’s Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Tuesday December 29 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Monday 3-8 PM. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Ronald’s name to Dana Farber Cancer Institute at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, 736 Cambridge Street, Boston, MA 02135.

Rosie and I are so sad to hear of his passing. He put up such an incredible fight. I have so many memories of Butch, a kind and loving patriarch, making sure everyone in his family and in his company was taken care of, always with a smile of course. I hope the Venis family can find peace in that he is no longer suffering and that he will always be watching over you.
