Elizabeth J. “Betty” Kelly

Elizabeth J. “Betty” Kelly, passed away December 7, 2011. Betty was a Braintree resident at the time of her passing, but a lifelong resident of Dorchester.  She graduated Dorchester High School in 1947. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Kelly.  Loving mother of Catherine Kelly of Mansfield, Sheila Barends of East Bridgewater, Pauline Kelly of Stoughton, Michael Kelly of East Bridgewater, Paul Kelly of Canton and the late; Jane Kelly, Eileen Kelly and Sean Kelly. Betty is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass in St. Gregory Church, DORCHESTER, Tuesday, December 13 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours omitted and interment private. Betty worked as a sales srRepresentative for Zayres in Roslindale for over 20 years.  She also worked as the box office lady for Stoughton Cinemas for over 13 years.  In her free time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed walking  around Castle Island.

Michael A. Austin

Michael A. Austin, of Jamaica Plain and formerly of Hingham, at home Wednesday December 7, 2011.  Survived by his beloved wife, Nolly Corley, his son Ted, of Swanzey, New Hampshire, and his son Jeffrey, of Brooklyn, New York.  Father of the late beloved Jessica.  Also survived by his sisters, Jeanne James and Patricia Austin, both of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, his stepson, Nick Flower, of West Roxbury, and nephews and nieces Mark James, Jeffrey James, Kim James, Jill James, Leah Friday, Matthew Friday, and Anthony Solito, Jr.  Loved, missed, and always remembered. Funeral services and interment are private.

Mary M. (Pashby) Mullen

Mary M. (Pashby) Mullen, 79, of Quincy, at home Monday December 5, 2011. Beloved wife of the late Francis L. Mullen; loving mother of Susan Mullen of Quincy, David Mullen and his wife Carolyn of Abington, Janet Higgins and her husband Peter of Weymouth, and Steven J. Mullen of Quincy; adoring grandmother of John and Christine Higgins and Leo and Alex Mullen; sister of Clare Hietala, Frank Pashby, and the late Rev. Jerry Pashby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday December 9 at 10:30 at St. Agathas Church, Milton. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave, MILTON,  Thursday 4 – 8 p.m. Interment will be at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Mary completed her Bachelors Degree while raising four children and began her lifes work educating youth and went on to receive her Masters Degree in Mathematics. She loved her job at East Braintree Junior High, contributing over 35 years as a teacher of mathematics. Mary was raised in Revere but spent much of her later life in Quincy with her family of six. She developed a passion for travel, bringing her entire family abroad on many occasions. She had a deep appreciation for life and family. Sr. Marion Morrissey, mfic

Sr. Marion Morrissey, mfic, a member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Newton, formerly of Dorchester, died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. Daughter of the late Marion (Leary) Morrissey and William T. Morrissey, former Commissioner of the Metropolitan District Commission and for whom Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester was named. Sister of the late William T. Morrissey. Sister Marion is survived by her nieces Deborah Katsiroubas and her husband Nicholas of South Natick and Jayne Gansler and her husband Stephen of Medfield and her nephew William T. Morrissey and his wife Rosemary of Bourne. Also survived by her grandnieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Mount Alvernia Convent Chapel, 790 Centre St. Newton, MA 02458 on Wednesday, December 7 at 10:00 AM.  Relatives and friends invited.  Visiting hours at the chapel on Tuesday 4-7:30 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Retirement Fund of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters at the address listed above would be appreciated. Virginia “Ginny” (Van Veen) Miscioscia

Virginia “Ginny” (Van Veen) Miscioscia, of Dorchester, December 3, 2011, after a battle with cancer. Beloved wife of 44 years to Joseph L. Miscioscia. Sister of Frederick Van Veen of Kennebunkport, ME. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins in Ireland. Daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Van Veen. Daughter-in-law of Michael and the late Frances Miscioscia. Predeceased by sisters-in-law Julia Van Veen and Eleanor Miscioscia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester on Wednesday, December 7 at 10:00AM. Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Tuesday, 4-8PM. Interment private. Ginny was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton, Class of ’57 . She was a late employee of Mass. Teachers Assoc. Ginny wished to thank all of the volunteers who assisted her in raising funds for education at St. Gregory’s Bingo and Mt. St. Joseph Bingo. Dorothy Murray Gardner

A Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, December 6 at 10:00AM at Saint Elizabeth Church, Milton for Dorothy Murray Gardner. She died on December 3, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Boston and attended Nazareth High School, Fisher College and Boston University. She has been a resident of Milton since 1951 and active in community affairs for many years serving on the Warrant Committee for three years and as a Town Meeting Member since 1975. She served as president of many local organizations including the Milton PM Club, the Milton Circle of the Florence Crittenton League, the Milton Woman’s Club and the Amateur Gardeners of Milton. She served as a Director of Milton Campership and Milton Meals on Wheels. She was a trustee of the former China Trade Museum and continued as a trustee of the Captain Forbes House Museum for 17 years. She has been a Corporation member of the Milton Hospital since 1973 and has held positions as President of the Friends of Milton Hospital and the Milton Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Milton Hospital Development Fund Board since 1989 and served as chairman for 7 years. She was a member of the Milton Hoosic Club, an avid golfer, playing in many tournaments on the South Shore. She was a member of the Quincy Neighborhood Club.

She had been associated with Milton Academy for many years as Executive Secretary of the Graduate’s Association.

She leaves her husband, Hugh D. Gardner, Jr., a daughter Jean Gardner of Villanova, PA, two loving granddaughters, Lauren and Allison Sottile, one sister, Mrs. Ruth Wilcox of Martha’s Vineyard and the late Mrs. Marion Bowman of Boston and Francis Murray of Canton, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Stephen Gardner.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday 3:00-7:30PM at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. MILTON.

Robert Perkins, of Milton, a teacher in the Boston Public School System, died at his home after a brief illness on November 27, 2011. Beloved husband of Aida Quinones Perkins and father of Jamie Christina Perkins. Private family funeral services have been held.

Kathleen M. (Devin) Mullen

Kathleen M. (Devin) Mullen, after a long illness, November 28, 2011. Daughter of the late Madeline L. (Connolly) and Arthur A. Devin. Wife of James G. Mullen, Jr. Mother of Molly A. and Julie D. Mullen. Sister of Brian V. and George M. Devin and the late Michael A. Devin. Niece of Mary E. Connolly. Aunt of seven nieces and five nephews. All of Milton. Kathleen was a graduate of Saint Agatha School, Fontbonne Academy and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Boston State College. She taught in the Milton Public Schools for thirty years. Most of her teaching years were spent teaching first grade, she also taught kindergarten and second grade. She served as an elected Town Meeting Member in Precinct Seven and Precinct Five and was also elected to the Milton Housing Authority. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Friday December 2 at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. No visiting hours will be held. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.

Barbara S. (Sorensen) Griffin

Barbara S. (Sorensen) Griffin, of Dorchester, November 28, 2011. Beloved wife of the late James W. Griffin. Loving mother of Kevin Griffin of Dorchester and the late Dorothy Griffin, James W. Griffin Jr. and Barbara Robicheau. Barbara is also survived by nine grandchildren, 11great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
