Ann Marie Hannigan Sheehan, RN  of Milton, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 7, 2013.  Born January 5, 1928 in Milton, MA.  Daughter of the late Frank and Alice (Martin) Hannigan.  Mother of Mary C. Rown of Milton  and the late Jeremiah F. Sheehan.   Mother in law to John W. Rowan and grandmother of Jennifer and Jeffrey  Rowan.  She is sister to  Sr. Anne Michael Hannigan , SND of Dedham and Katherine M. McSharry of New Jersey, her brothers of  late  Frank , John and James  Hannigan.  Ann was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1945,  St. Margaret’s School of Nursing in 1950, she attended Bridgewater State College  where she received her Bachelors in Psychology in 1979.  Ann served as a registered nurse for 40years.  Her  work experience included, Boston City Hospital, Carney Hospital, Quincy, City Hospital, Milton Hospital  before joining the Boston School System as a school nurse, retiring from the system in 1992.  Ann enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adeline’s Choral Group for a number of years.  She was very active in St. Elizabeth’s Church as a member of the choir, Religious Ed teacher and Eucharistic Minister for 53 years.  She was an active participant in the Pro-Life Movement.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday,  August 10 at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Church, Reedsdale Rd  at Randolph Ave. . Carolyn (Ambrose) Hayes-Donovan

Carolyn (Ambrose) Hayes-Donovan, formerly of Milton, MA and Newtown Square, PA,  died August 5, 2013 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Carolyn was born on June 18, 1934 in Boston to John F. Ambrose and Anna M. (Murphy) Ambrose.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother John F.X. Ambrose, and her husband Francis X. Hayes.  She was the dear wife of James M. Donovan of Newtown Square, PA.  She was the beloved mother of J. Ambrose Hayes and his wife Kerry of Milton, MA; T. Christopher Hayes and his wife Kathy of Jamaica Plain, MA; and Carrie Greenberg and her husband Bruce Greenberg of Wayland, MA.  Carolyn was the cherished ‘Nana’ of Keegan, Hannah, Reilly, Declan and Mairead (Maggie) Hayes, and Elizabeth, Erin and Zachary Greenberg.

A Boston Public School teacher for over three decades, she spent most of that time educating the most needy students as a special education teacher, as well as an Evaluation Team Leader (ETL).  What she loved most was spending summers at the family’s house in Dennisport on Cape Cod, surrounded by family and friends.

A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched so wonderfully.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Ignatius Loyola Parish, 28 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, Thursday August 8, 2013 at 10:00 AM.  Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON, Wednesday 4-8 PM.

Robert G. Hart “Unc” 78, of Weymouth formerly of Dorchester and West Roxbury passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 2, 2013.  Devoted husband of the late Lorraine Sprague.  Bob is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his siblings Mary Kirven, Margaret Vaughn, Joseph Hart, Catherine Corbett, Francis Hart, Alfred Hart and Helen McKenna.  Bob served in the Air Force from 1960-1963, Bob went to work for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and retired after 40 years of service.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Theresa Church, 2078 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Wednesday, August 7 at 10:00 A.M.  Visiting hours will be held in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON, on Tuesday from 4-8 PM.  Interment Saint Joseph’s Cemetery.  In Lieu  of flowers a donation may be made in Roberts name to South Shore VNA Hospice, 100 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184. 

Dennis J. O’Sullivan

O'Sullivan_DennisDennis J. “Denny” O’Sullivan, a  Milton resident since 1956, died Saturday, July 27, 2013.  Born in Bantry, Ireland he was the son of the late Mark and Hannah (Mimihane) O’Sullivan.  A union electrician with Local 103, Mr. O’Sullivan had been with the former Donnelly Advertising Company for many years.  He was a World War II history buff, having read just about every book on the subject in both the Boston and Milton Librairies.

He was the brother of the late Eileen Finlan.  Survived by niece, Bernadette Somers and her husband Stephen of Reading, nephew, Michael Finlan of Boston, grandnieces;  Allison Somers and Laura Somers.  Cousin of  Anne T. Madden of Quincy, Marcus Keyes of TN, Cait Keyes of Ireland  and  the late Daniel O’Sullivan and Mary C. O’Sullivan .  Also survived by many more cousins.

John Whalen, suddenly, age 53, died Thursday, July 29, in Dorchester.

Born in Boston, grew up- in Dorchester and upon graduation from High School went on to attend Massachusetts Home Builders Institute.

After graduating from Massachusetts Home Builders Institute, John excelled in his field of carpentry and quickly rose to Project Manager, working in Boston and Metro-West Areas.  He loved his work and continued to wood work throughout his life.

He never  an opportunity to spend time in the outdoors, whether it be  camping, fishing, or hiking. John most recently took trips to Montana and Florida.  Over the past few years John was able to spend many wonderful hours with his family enjoying outings and meals remaining the jokester and comic for many of these events.

Being a true Bostonian he was an avid Bruins, Pats and Red Sox fan he most enjoyed watching every game from home with his wife, Judy and 3 dachshunds by his side.

“Talented yet humble, compassionate and giving, John loved volunteering helping other less fortunate. In his quiet style, his gentle smile gave comfort to many in a very self-effacing manner”. This is how one of John’s friends Mercedes described him.

John was the beloved husband of Judith (Gamble) Whalen. Devoted son of Mary (Myron) Devine and the late Albert Devine.  Brother of Rosemary Leone of Needham and Stephen Whalen of NC.  Mourned by several nieces, nephews,  aunts, and uncles.

Deneen, Marie 001Marie Deneen, July 29, Lifelong resident of Milton Loving mother of Janet O’Connell and her  husband Tom of Milton. Beloved grandmother of Ryan and Caitlin O’Connell of Milton. Sister of Henry Nalli and his wife Diane of Somerville. Marie graduated from Lasell College and worked as a medical technologist, before leaving to raise a family.  Marie worked at Milton Hospital before her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, vacations on Nantucket, and spending time with  her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Elizabeth’s Church, Milton, Thurs. We lost such a beautiful life a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly.  Yes we lost her but we gained an Angel who will watch over us.  Vovo Maria Lopes was born in fogo, Cape Verde Fogo to Joana & Americo.  She came to America in 1976 and worked hard to make a life for her children working at Polaroid for many years.  Vovo is survived by sisters  Maria Lina, Mama, Maria Lina and Dina. Vovo was a loving mother to her three daughters and two sons Odete, Chalino, Graciete, Patricia, and Ima, An amazing grandmother to Giza, Kathe, Micheal, Edalgiza, Zeleno, Willie, Charlie, Felicia, Nayara, Melissa Dino, Nana, Sasa, Arneia, Alex,Branden and Brianna.  A wonderful great-grandmother to Dajour, EJ, Karinah, Kyliah, Kendall, Jaylen, Zaylyn, Aziyus, Josiah, Justin, Khyrese, Jakhari Jamari, Ethan, Jorden, Adrian,and Marciea. Vovo leaves behind nephews, nieces, cousins and other loving relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Vovo Maria touched everyone she came in contact with and has lesft a piece of her with everyone. She was a beautiful person and we will miss her deeply . we will love her forever and keep her in our hearts.

A mass christian burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Church on Wednesday 10 am. Visiting hours in the Dolan Funeral home 1140 Washington Street 4-8 pm relatives and friends welcomed. Interment Cedar Grove Cementery .
