I am so very sorry to hear of Joyce’s death. I had the very good fortune of working with her at the old John Hancock, where she worked in the underwriting and contract departments and I was an attorney. As we worked on cases together, I found Joyce to be bright, knowledgeable, and extremely hard-working. Beyond that, she was spirited, compassionate, and most of all, wanted to help people. She really cared. Joyce gave extraordinary customer service to each and every John Hancock policyholde whom she encountered, in the days before customer service became a corporate byword. Joyce knew it instinctively. Her warm smile and upbeat personality brightened many a conference room along Berkeley and Clarendon Streets and are surely missed. My deepest condolences to her family on such a great loss. May she rest in peace.

I worked with Joyce for 17 years at JH. I was an Underwriter also
who enjoyed her personality and warm smile. She was brilliant and
helpful to all. She lived in the North End for a short time while I was born and bred there. She will be missed. I could go on to name people that knew her but it would take forever. May she rest in peace.
