John W. “Jack” Wright

wRIGHT_jOHNEWEBJohn “Jack”  W. Wright, of Milton, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Arden Courts in Annandale, Virginia surrounded by his family. He was 91.

A graduate of Milton High School and the Florida Military Academy, Jack was proud of his service to his country in the United States Army during World War II.  He later attended Boston University and Boston University Law School and established a law practice in Quincy. During his distinguished legal career serving the Commonwealth, he was an Assistant Attorney General as the Chief of the Contracts Division and the General Counsel of the Metropolitan District Commission.

He was an active outdoorsman. An avid sailor, he passed his love for the sea on to his children. He spent most of his weekends sailing aboard the Que Sera in Boston Harbor or around Cape Cod and the Islands. He was also an accomplished skier and spent winters with his family skiing in New Hampshire. He was a life member of Savin Hill Yacht Club.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Emily (McGarrahan) Wright,  his parents, two brothers, a sister, and his granddaughter Elizabeth.  He is survived by his seven children and their families:  John Jr. (Ann Morgan) of Blythewood, SC; Carolyn Darnell (Gerry) of Tulsa OK; James of Plymouth MA; Andrew (Ginny) of Arlington, VA; Amy Larson (Paul) of Arlington, VA; Rosanne MacRoberts (Richard) of Plainville, MA, and Robert (Carole) of Arlington, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lily, Owen and Ava Wright; Emily and Caroline Larson, and April MacRoberts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Milton, Monday, March 13,  at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours in the Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, Sunday March 12,  3-6 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
