Julia A. (Hegarty) Ernesti

Ernesti, Julia for website and acs onlyJulia Agnes (Hegarty) Ernesti, of Milton, passed peacefully, surrounded by her large family, amidst tears, laughter and song on March 4, 2016.

Beloved wife of Dr. Manfred Ernesti. Loving mother of William Ernesti, Richard M.F. Ernesti, John Ernesti, Alexander Ernesti, Monica Ernesti and Cecelia Bailey. Grandmother of Riordan, Altan, Aidan, Alessia, Julia, Sophia and Maximo. Sister of Brenda Breen, Virginia Flaherty, Mary Theresa Seaman, David Hegarty, Anne Hegarty and the late Peter Hegarty and Patricia Hegarty.

Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of St. Gregory’s High School and Katherine Gibbs School and began working as a social worker at Carney Hospital, where she met her husband. She enjoyed reading, gardening, travelling and cooking.

As co-owner of The Little Book Room, Julia championed the written word and was an avid reader. She spent many hours tending to her beautiful flower beds. Ever the excursionist, she loved the experience of world travel, and with her attention to detail and planning she took great pleasure in cooking and entertaining for family and friends. Mrs. Ernesti was active with the Ladies of Charity at both Carney Hospital and Milton Hospital and in fundraising for the Milton Public Library.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Wednesday March 9 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home,  5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, Monday 4-7 AND Tuesday 4-7.
