Helen Durant

Durant, Helen for website onlyHelen Durant was born and raised in Dorchester.  She was the daughter of the late Louis T. and  Helen E (O’Connor) Maloney.  She attended St. Peter’s School, Archbishop Cushing Central High School, class of 1958 and Burdett School of Business.  Helen retired in 2002 from the Boston Water and Sewer Commission as Executive Assistant to the Director. During which time, she received the Commisioner’s Award in 2000 and was recognized for her charity fundraising efforts. She previously worked at the Probation Department of the Boston Municipal Court for many years.

She enjoyed spending time crafting with her friends and lovingly designed needlepoint keepsakes for her sons and sister.

Helen was a member of the ladies golf league at Ponkapoag and George Wright golf courses.  She Enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod in Chatham and Dennisport every year with her family and friends.

She enjoyed listening to the live Irish music of the Fenian Sons in which her son is the lead singer.  Above everything her most precious time was spent with her six beautiful granddaughters.

Helen will be greatly missed by her loving family, her large circle of friends and her many nieces and nephews.

Helen was the beloved wife of Ernest A. Durant, Jr. for 43 years.   Devoted mother of Michael F.  Durant ( B.P.D.) and his wife Annmarie  of W. Roxbury and Sean C. Durant (M.S.P.) of Braintree and his wife DawnMarie.  Grandmother of Mary, Sarah, Lauren , Shannon, Colleen and Kylie. Sister of Joseph L. Maloney of Weymouth, Francis X. Maloney of Quincy, William F. Maloney of Dennisport,  Richard J. Maloney of Easton, Claire A. Koch of Wakefield, and the late George P. Maloney and Mary C. Maloney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anne’s Church, READVILLE, Fri , May 30, at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Thurs., 4-8 pm.  Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
