Helen Joann Jenkins
Mrs. Helen Joann Jenkins, daughter of the late Jessie & Alverna Johnson Booker was born in Greenville, South Carolina on June 26, 1934. On Wednesday, February 20, Helen was called home after years of battling cancer and other illnesses. Helen was a fighter. Everyone who knew her understood and admired her strength, determination and feisty ways. Her love for her family was undeniable. She would back you all the way if you were right but if you had your faults you would also know as well. She didn’t bite her tongue. In her final days Helen enjoyed the comfort of her family, especially her grandchildren, an occasional trip to Foxwoods, scratching lottery tickets and shockingly developed a love for Trey Songz. Every time she heard a song from him, especially his song “Heart Attack”, she would just dance and sing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Jenkins; 1 daughter, Sybil Joyner; 1 son, Michael Jenkins; 5 brothers, Fred, Albert, Charles, Elford and Jessie Booker; 2 sisters, Ollie Coleman and Doris Love; and 2 bothers in-law, Carlyle Coleman and Cornell Jackson. She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: children, Carol Jenkins Sapp, Dorothy (Bernard) Sneed, Milford (Louise) Jenkins, Robert (Lorna) Jenkins, Cassandra, Cheryl and Talisa Jenkins all of Boston, MA; Randall (Francis) Jenkins of Fall River, MA; son in-law Frank Joyner of Boston, MA, sisters, Marie Jackson of Plezer, SC and Margaret Booker of Kansas City, KS, ; sisters in-law, Peggy Killebrew of Bronx, NY and Hattie Booker of Kansas City, KS; 30 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also her very best friend Nancy Dobson. Visitation in Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Friday March 1, 10 – 11:30. Funeral Service Friday at 11:30. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mattapan.

We would like to send our heartfelt sympathy and love to the family. We will miss my beloved sister and aunt and will remember the fond memories. We’ll keep the family in our prayers and may Jehovah God give you strength to endure. We’ll all look forward when His Son, Christ Jesus, comes and all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and will come out. John 5:28,29.
