Francis X. "Inga" Walsh

of Milton and Naples, FL, died on June 29, 2009 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Born in the Dorchester section of Boston, MA, Mr. Walsh was a Hall of Fame Basketball Player at Northeastern University and at Milton High School.

He was the first basketball player ever inducted into Northeastern University’s inaugural Hall of Fame. After graduating from Northeastern, Mr. Walsh played under contract for the New York Knicks.

Upon the conclusion of his playing career, Mr. Walsh became a banker in South Boston where he worked until his retirement. He was also a longtime volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in Immokolee, FL.

Mr. Walsh was a veteran of the US Navy and the US Army, and he served during the latter years of World War II and Korea.

Beloved husband of Carolyn M. (Turner) Walsh. Father of Edwin P. Walsh and his wife, Cathleen, of Milton, Francis M. Walsh and his wife, Debra, of Concord, and Dennis W. and his wife, Suzanne, of Houston, TX. Brother of the late H. Robert Walsh, Annedith Tomasello and Elinor Walsh. Grandfather of Matthew, Colin, Katherine, Meagan and Caitlin. Master of his favorite dogs: Elvis, Lucy and Roger.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton on Friday, July 3 at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Monday, July 6 in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline at 12:00PM.
