Donald R. Gregory
of Boston and Owls Head, ME, died at his home in Boston on August 20, 2009.
Born in Rockland, Maine, Don graduated with honors from Rockland High School in 1960 where he was a member of the championship Debating Society.
Don furthered his education at Duke University (Class of 1964) and received his Masters Degree in International Politics from the University of Maine-Orono.
After school, Don worked for three years as a Journalist for the Bangor Daily News and the Rockland Courier Gazette. He covered human interest stories throughout Europe. His time in Italy was a highlight for him, and he made many lifelong friends there.
Upon his return home to the United States, Don resided in Arlington, VA where he worked at the Bureau of Hearings and Appeals for the Social Security Administration. He then became the Legislative Director for the Republican Senatorial Committee.
Don also worked as the Director of Public Relations for the Amway Corporation, and later became a Political Consultant and specialized in U.S. Senate races.
The thing that he liked best was spending time with his family and friends at The Cottage at Owls Head, Maine.
Beloved husband of Mary K. Ames of Boston. Brother of the late David D. Gregory And Brother-in-law of Jon Bonsall and his wife Kathy of Wellesley. Beloved uncle
of Matthew and his wife Megan Bonsall , Daniel Bonsall, Kate Bonsall, Carson Burnham and Erin Forbes. Beloved son-in-law of Sallie Ames.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Joseph Church, West End, Boston on Monday August 24,2009 at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited.
