Michael William Finneran : Dolan Funeral Home

Michael William Finneran, 42, of Bourne, formerly of Milton and Dorchester, November 11, 2020.

Beloved son of the late Linda Marie (Brennan) Finneran and the late William “Billy” J. Finneran Jr. and his surviving partner Madeline Piper of Bourne. Michael was the loving and cherished brother of Christopher Finneran and his wife Trish of Marshfield, Mary E. and her partner Kevin Delaney and Suzanne Bridges and her husband David, all of Milton. Loving and devoted uncle of Brendan Patrick Finneran, MaryKatherine Grace Finneran and Christopher Luke Finneran Jr., all of Marshfield, Kate Finneran Bridges, Emma Eileen Bridges and Linda Ann Delaney, all of Milton. Michael is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He attended Milton Public Schools, Milton High School and Saint Anselm College. Michael enjoyed sports and traveling. He took great pleasure from the shared achievements of his teammates. He played varsity golf and hockey and was a member of the 1993 Bay State League Hockey Champions. Michael enjoyed playing golf with friends and family and enjoyed some beautiful destinations, including Hawaii, Scotland and Kiawah Island. He also enjoyed baseball and softball and was a member of The Milton Fighting Irish Amateur Baseball Club and The Swinging A’s Men’s Fast Pitch Club.

Michael was a kind, gentle soul. He was engaging, charismatic and was always happy to see you. He enjoyed his cherished 8^th grade graduation trips with his nieces and nephews and loved his time with them. Trips to the mountains on the West Coast, Nova Scotia and Saratoga Springs were delightful destinations for them, bonding loving times with “Uncle Mike”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Monday November 16 at 10:30 am. Seating is limited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Sunday 2-6 PM. Interment Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Rest easy Michael. You were always such a sweet and funny guy. The Hirl’s all enjoyed our family get-togethers, Christmas Eve together every year, and any other time we got to see each other. Give your mother a big hug from all of us. You will be missed.

To the Finneran Family;

I am saddened to hear the news of Michael’s passing. Please accept my condolences.

I am a fellow St.A’s alum. I enjoyed his company talking politics, sports, being from the Quincy/Milton area and chatting about mutual friends and acquaintances.

I haven’t spoken or seen Michael since our days in school. But when I heard the news, a smiled. I smiled remembering some of those college days spent with Michael.

I hope he rests in peace. I am sorry for your family’s loss.

My heart is completely broken over your loss. Even as an adult, I don’t think I ever stopped thinking of Michael as the little brother running around Grove St with his he-man figures. I’ll remember him with that boyish face and happy happy smile. You were so blessed.

Michael not only listened to my “oldies” with me, he also liked them. One of a million great memories of the time we had together and the joy he gave me. So Mike I hope you are listening to “some sweet sounds coming down” and doing your smooth dance moves. There’s a chorus down here singing “la la la la la means I love you” for you. Dear Chris, Mary, and Suzanne, our sincere thoughts and love go out to you and all of your children during this difficult time. Our lives will be forever changed without Mike in them. I mourn for you all, for us as his friends, and for my husband who has lost his best friend. He will never be the same without Finn. Mike took so much joy in good food, friendship, and the beach. Rest in peace my old friend. Mike, or Gumpa as I called him, was such a character who had that ability to make you laugh no matter what your mood was. I’m glad to have shared so many great moments with him and even though we had lost touch over the years, just hearing his name brought up in conversation would bring a chuckle and smile to my face knowing the good times we shared. My deepest condolences on your loss.

I’m part of the hockey clan down here in the Bourne area. Mike (“Finn” to us) wandered into the group a couple of years and made fast friends of us all. His light-hearted trash-talking on the ice and casual conversation over a beer after the games will be remembered very fondly.

We’re all deeply saddened to hear of his passing. We will speak of him well and smile as we recall his witty chirps and tales of good times past. Mike will be in our pre-skate prayers, as will his family and friends. In this most trying time, I hope you find some little peace in the knowledge that Mike was so very well admired.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of meeting “Finneran” and Mary through my brother, Mark Stevens. I enjoyed watching them play football and swim in the ocean with my nephew Myles. Myles followed calling him “Finn”. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Hello Finneran Family,

I was Michael’s drum teacher here in Milton a few years back. He came out to a few shows back then and we hung out a little bit. I’m sorry that we lost touch since then. He was a lot of fun to teach and really nice guy. My condolences and love to your family.
