Harvey Williams

Harvey L. Williams Jr. longtime resident of Boston, Massachusetts, was born in Covington, Georgia to the late Harvey L. Williams Sr. and Annie Mae Davis.

Harvey was the owner of H&J Commercial Cleaning Company for over 20 years. Previously, he worked for Belchers Catering Company. Harvey was an Alto Jazz Saxophonist who also played the flute and piano. Harvey loved teaching others how to play the piano and discussing music theory. He enjoyed playing at various venues with his band especially at the well-known “Wally’s of Boston.”

One of his favorite past times was fishing especially when joined by his buddy Harold Truitt. He also enjoyed watching professional boxing with friends and family. Harvey is best known for sharing his philosophies, guidance, and wisdom about life with anyone willing to listen.

Harvey and his wife Dorothy, “Dottie” played a meaningful role in the lives of a multitude of children, who they nurtured, parented and loved.  Opening his home and his heart in this way leaving several children who will miss him deeply. They include Theresa Daley (Sylvester), Jerry Adams, Sheryl Speed, Susan Purcell (Andrew), Hassan Sadberry, Joy Henry and Reginald Lucien. Along with their children and grandchildren, too numerous to name.  Harvey was preceded in death by Melissa Rookard (Marlon).

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Williams, his children Cheryl Chapman (Grayson) of Boston; Rodney Williams (Tammy) of Greensboro, NC; Staverne Miller (Renard) and Nadine Adams all of Boston.  Grandchildren:  Marcus Williams, India and Zariya Miller.  Great-Grand Children: Sanai Williams and Caleb Lewis; his siblings: Alice G. Dunn of Boston; Kent Davis (Ann) of Atlanta, GA. Harvey will be missed by family members including: In laws, nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
